I have seven rentals and I was always worried if I took a vacation or trip out of town that an issue with one of the properties would arise when I left. Now I travel and never give this a second thought. An even bigger bonus is that I don’t have to keep up with all the laws and regulations that seem to change each year. Negative experience: My experience with Key Realty Center as an inherited tenant was incredibly disappointing and reprehensible. I had been a reliable tenant for over 8 years under the previous landlord, but the transition to new management brought confusion, aggressive paperwork demands, and a clear lack of professional communication. I was issued an eviction notice due to a disagreement about updated application paperwork—even though I had already provided the necessary information multiple times and still paying rent throughout the transition. The office appeared overwhelmed, and his single staff member admitted to managing 150+ properties with very limited support. I was eventually forced to move out at my own expense, despite consistent communication the past 8 years and a clean tenancy record. The move-out process included questionable charges, such as repainting rooms that had remained the same color since I moved in. It felt like a typical nickel-and-dime tactic from a company focused on cheap management. The posturing and condescending tone during the whole experience was combative, "my way or the highway" and frankly embarrassing. I hope future tenants—especially long-term ones—receive clearer, more respectful treatment. I strongly recommend documenting everything in writing, and if possible, consider working with a more professional and transparent property management company. P.S. You forwarded my paltry $200 check to the same address I was leaving instead of the new address I provided to your team. Sheeesh ‍♂️

In the time that we’ve lived here (2.5 yrs), they have responded promptly to our needs and concerns and are extremely amicable to partner with. Negative experience: Found the property on Zillow. Scheduled on Showmojo and day of no one shows. Then Rod has the audacity to send me a thank you email acting like we met. So unprofessional just trying to cover his tracks.

Negative experience: Do not trust or believe Rod Luman. He is unethical and a liar. I'm in the process of looking for a new house to rent. Rod reported to a property manager who i was looking to lease a home from. He reported I had 1 late payment(have leased the house for over 2 1/2 years) i always paid my rent on the 4th of the month..i paid it by putting in mailslot at his office. He said one month I paid on the 5th. Payment was made at 11:45 pm on the 4th and when he went there on the 5th he pick up the rent payment. He then gave me a 3 day pay or quit and threatened to evict me if it wasn't paid. Keep in mind I have never been late. He then told the property manager who i was going to rent from that he would never rent to me again, but would never say why. I am filing a complaint with fair housing and the DRE (Dept of Real Estate) and will be filing a lawsuit against Key Realty and Rod Luman . Mr. Luman you messed with the wrong guy ! He charged me $315 for the late charge.

Key Realty Center stands head and shoulders above previous property management companies that I've worked with. Rod and his office staff(namely Ana) truly understand the needs of home owners as well as tenants and do an exceptional job in terms of customer service and most importantly communication. They are diligent and timely with any reported repairs, issues, and concerns. Their experience level in terms of property management consultative advice is evident once you being working with them. Negative experience: I recently, moved out of a rental home of Key Realty. I had a horrible year renting from them with more than 15 repair visit's. The cost of extra water, electricity and time off from work to mention a few problems. Then they took over half of my deposit. As an older single female, I felt I was unfairly targeted and subjected to dishonest practices that ultimately cost me significant portion of my deposit. Including, a 300 dollar charge to call a house cleaner and carpet shampoo company. Even though I paid to have that done. I feel I was taken advantage of, lied to and deceived. I would caution others about renting from this disreputable company.

Fantastic experience: My mother passed away 2 years ago (she was 94). We had built her a home on our property so she could spend her last days close to us. She insisted we rent it out after she was gone, but w/all the tenant nightmares we hear about, we were reluctant. We met w/Rod from Key Realty. He convinced us w/his screening process, background checks and extensive contract he would find a clean caring tenant that would be respectful to mom's house. Six months later and the tenant has been friendly and quiet. He even keeps the house as clean as mom.. Thank you Rod and the folks at Key Realty..!!

Negative experience: We had confirmed a property showing by Key Realty to view a rental on Saturday. Everything was confirmed over email Friday with Ana. Saturday morning we get an email stating our showing has been canceled. I called the number on Google and Rod picked up. I asked why the property showing was canceled and he said because we never confirmed and they reached out multiple times to which we never responded. This was a flat out lie since we have an email confirming the showing. Coincidentally, this happened earlier in the week where we had scheduled a viewing and then day off Ana called and said it wa a canceled because the owner fired them as a property manager. My family has rented properties and worked with property mangers for years and Key Realty is completely unprofessional. I feel bad for the owners who still have vacant homes because of the shady business practices they are doing. Avoid at all costs whether renting or using them to manage your property.

Negative experience: Unprofessional company that lies about not receiving confirmation to see a property.

Negative experience: I called Rod and he told me to apply on the website. He told me I can't even see the place until I pay a fee. I contracted them via their website and even offered to give them an official credit report, criminal history report, drivers license, and pay stubs. I have an 805 credit score, no debt, a good job as an engineer, and no criminal history. They have not contacted me back. I called him again this week after giving them a couple weeks to contact me and he picked up and then hung up the phone. IO'm very confused by this, and if I were you I would NOT pay money to this company just to see a property. I get charging a fee to confirm things before renting, but before even seeing the place? Bad communication, shady practices. No refunds would be fine to me for a background check if I was applying to rent, but I just wanted to see the property. Common sense dictates that you stay away from this property management company. I find this type of business practice to be predatory, and if it's not predatory it is unprofessional. I hope this review helps someone avoid this property manager.

Negative experience: Communication at this place is terrible. The past few weeks, Ive been trying to contact this company via email and phone call in regards to a property. I was hanged up on three times, as I heard the phone pick up. Additionally, I have emailed numerous times, and still no response. When I finally did get through, agent that helped me was not very helpful and answered questions in a non-chalant tone. I believe this is a red flag, as communication is a essential especially when renting. Not a engaging company and zero communication. Mind you this is from a tenant perspective.

Fantastic experience: We’re fairly new, just started renting from Key Realty Center and I must say that they are exceptional at what they do. The house was in top notch condition. Upon move-in there’s paperwork that renters need to fill out—just to notate on what you’ve noticed in/around the property—which will also be used upon move out. In the 6 homes we’ve rented in the last 15 years, this is the only property management that has done this, and I think it’s genius. Rod and Sara are reachable, available, accommodating, and knowledgeable in their field of expertise. If I have questions or concerns I can always call (during office hours), or text or email (after hours) and you can expect an almost immediate response. We have nothing but high praise for Key Realty Center.

Fantastic experience: We hired Rod with Key Realty as our property management company in August 2021. I found them on Google with good reviews and after a phone call and a walk through of the home, Rod gave us some good suggestions to improve the rental potential. Shortly after the meeting, we hired him as our property manager. It wasn't long before he found a good tenant at the rental price we had talked about. Within a few months, I asked for a walk-through of the property and he did it the next day and sent us pictures. The house has never looked so good. Communication has been excellent ... he either answers my phone calls or I get a call back quickly. I also like the "owners portal" where I can access monthly statements and year end taxes. I would highly recommend Key Realty.

Negative experience: Saw rental and nowhere on description it showed criteria for renting. Paid $80 for my husband and I amd got declined cause they said I had a BK within 3 years and low score. I said if I had known I wouldn't have wasted $80 and applied. I feel misled and they rip people off. They should put that in the ad. Other realtys I've dealt with refunded if after seeing application and felt we weren't a fit or don't charge and do prescreening first. Very unprofessional company!

Negative experience: I rented a home in elk Grove where their where rodents in the attic they didn’t believe it we hired Wildlife to come out and take a look they placed cages and found two, very large raccoons there is a whole family of raccoons in the attic of this home 6541 canyon creek way Elk Grove Ca .and still there .My advice is not to rent this home it is very disturbing and frightening. After that there was a very aggressive assistance working at the office that raise the rent at the end of the lease that was very annoying and time-consuming. Otherwise it’s a beautiful home very nice neighborhood if you could get past the rodents and annoying assistant
