Negative experience: Tried to get in touch for 5 days after filling out applications and calling various people in the office, we were told 3 times sherie Hitchcock would be in touch with us, her assistant couldn't even get a hold of her. She has other bad reviews due to communication with customers. After 5 days of trying to view the house we were told that she had just rented it out but never updated the website. Sherie should not be in this business, she obviously does not have the skills needed to properly help people

I had to fire my previous property manager due to rent distributions being provided the last week of the month and sometimes, into the next month?! Previous prop. mang. did NOT protect my investment and argued with me, after they authorized tenants to change fixtures and paint the entire property without providing any communications for any of the changes. With the above, and so much more, I reached out to Marie Hansen Properties and I explain my situation and the constraints I had. CHERYL WAS SHOCKED!!! She personnally completed the property takeover inspection. There was not need to exaggerate the severity of it, unfortunately. With pictures and good communication, I felt at ease oddly enough. Even though we had to coordinate a bunch of changes, freshen up the property, and pay a ridiculously unnecessary amount of money out of pocket to cover everything, I knew I had a team who would take care of me, my investment, and future tenants. She handled the takeover of the property with professionalism, ease, and utilized her monthly training. It was no sweat off her back! She was a breathe of fresh air and it sounded too easy and too good to be true. IT WAS ALL TRUE WHAT HER AND HER TEAM CAN DO. There were no empty promises. She delivered!! I am proof, Cheryl and her team at Marie Hansen Properties, WILL protect your investment. I have utilized their services for over 3 years now and their professionalism and action oriented manner, are why I continue to use their services. Thank you Cheryl for the smooth transition! Fantastic experience: Renting in Honolulu right now is incredibly competitive—every showing I went to had 30+ other people applying on the spot. I took a chance and applied for a unit through Marie Hansen Properties before even seeing it because I knew how fast things go here. I ended up getting a call from Rhonda Hutchinson, letting me know that the original unit was already rented—but she had another one available in the same building that was very similar. She offered to set up a one-on-one showing, which was such a breath of fresh air compared to the big group showings I’d gotten used to, where it was hard to ask questions or get a good feel for the place. Rhonda showed me a unit that was absolutely perfect—exactly what I was looking for. The whole application and approval process was super smooth and straightforward. Fantastic experience: My review is based on a property owner's perspective seeking real estate management services. I was very impressed when I met with Cheryl Kunimoto. Historically we have had very negative experiences with other property management companies who have neglected their duties for our property resulting to a lot of damages, expenses, and losses. We were in a dire situation and Cheryl was very transparent with us. She was very knowledgeable of the situation and was very honest with us when making an evaluation. Unfortunately our property did not meet the standards to be managed by most companies but she was still helpful by empathetically listening to our needs and providing other connections in the real estate industry to help resolve our specific issues even though we were no longer eligible for her services. Most property managers would probably just decline and walk away but Cheryl was truly compassionate and provided us guidance exemplifying exceptional customer service and aloha. I highly recommend consulting her if you own property for rentals and want to protect your investment or additional home you plan to pass on to family so you can prevent any headaches down the road. We really wished we met Cheryl earlier during our journey as property owners because our situation was very preventable but it was too late when we found out.

I found a home on Zillows and called about 8:37 AM Tuesday morning on April 23 and Aunty Liz answered the phone right away. She listened to my questions and answered right away. I had asked to see home and she was able to show the home at 4:30 PM. We were really excited to see home as it is looks so spacious. When we got to meet Aunty Liz she so sweet , happy , always smiling and very patient. She had show us the home , handed us papers about home and to apply , walk us down the stairs to see parking spot , and show us the washer and dryer area. Explained to us about Elevator , what is coming. I wish we got the home but it's okay, we hope to rent home from Aunty Liz one day in future. We had interviewed two other well known Honolulu firms, but it was the professionalism of Ms. Cheryl Kunimoto (President of MHP), her presentation of her company and Sherie's tenacity during our first meeting that made all the difference. For example, Sherie's attention to details, such as home maintenance, experience with nuances of landlord--tenant rules, property marketing, and skills in screening for best qualified tenants served us very well during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our ideal tenants are very happy and ready to renew the lease for another full year. My wife's intuition to choose a strong and respectable woman owned business was absolutely spot on. We cannot imagine leaving our beautiful Hawaii Kai property with anyone else to manage for us while we are away in the mainland. Negative experience: I had contacted Sherie Hitchcock 8 hours after she listed a unit on Craigslist. We happen to rent the unit right next door and are actively looking. I left a message for her explaining I had seen the unit when it was for sale and wanted to speak with her. Never received a call back. I called today and received her voicemail again so I sent a text and nothing. Two hours later she was at the property and I waved her down as she was pulling out. She was completely rude. Told me she was busy and had 7 applicants before me. This is 100% unprofessional! Will not be using this agency ever. ** I just wanted to update my review so people are aware. I received a phone call shortly after this review from Sherie saying she had just heard my message and was available to show the listing. At this point, we were no longer interested and did not move forward that was the end of that, so we thought. We had two calls made to our management company complaining about us from Sherie. Once about are garbage can and then parking to unload the groceries. She sat in her car and waited for the security to come to our door, watched and then drove away. They had told us the Realtor had called. We have lived here for some time and have NEVER had anyone complain about anything we have done. At this point she is being spiteful and harassing us I guess in retaliation to this review and contacting her manager. PLEASE BEWARE!

Negative experience: As my wife previously stated below, they are shady. Kim screwed us over and taking away money from our deposit after telling us at the inspection that we would receive full deposits back is WRONG. Don’t use this company unless you want to get screwed over. :)

Negative experience: DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! RUN!!!!!! I would just like to let everyone know that Marie Hansen Properties is a JOKE & to NOT use them when renting!!!!! We cleared out of our house on the 24th of November, our property manager who went through the house with us for the inspection said everything was PERFECT and that we would receive BOTH full security & pet deposit back. On November 30th, (coincidentally the last official day of our lease) our property manager sent us an email at 7 pm (11 pm our time as she knew we were on the mainland for the holidays) stating that she just so happened to turn off the a/c and pet odor became noticeable in the house. Again, this was the last day of our lease, SIX days after we cleared, and there was no way for us to go back into the house. She told us a professional carpet cleaner would be hired at our expense and they were waiting on an estimate, even though the carpets had already been professionally cleaned by a company we hired and she had receipts of that and had said that everything was perfect. She then proceeded forward with scheduling new carpet cleaners without telling us the estimate. We emailed her a week before our inspection asking if the receipts we had from the cleaners would be accepted, to which she did not respond until a couple of hours before our inspection saying if the carpet cleaners did a good enough job it would but that they usually require a professional carpet cleaner (which the carpets WERE professionally cleaned!!!) We also previously emailed her asking about what paint colors were needed for touching up the house to which she said she would get ahold of the owners and get back to us, and again never did because she stated at our INSPECTION that the owners never got back with her. Coincidentally she also never had a problem at responding to emails quickly until we said we were moving out. When we called the main office to discuss with someone other than her what had happened and to see what we could do about getting our money back because regardless of pet odor (which we cannot confirm or deny as we couldn’t go back in the house) the carpets were professionally cleaned like stated in the rental agreement and she had already told us we would be receiving everything back, BUT they stated they didn’t even have any of our receipts we had given her at the inspection!!! They said they would talk to her and someone else in the office that deals more with these kinds of things and that we would be receiving a phone call by Friday about the situation. Today, we just received our security and pet deposit but of course still with the money taken out for the carpet cleaners, SHE hired. I don’t usually rant about a company but what happened here was very unprofessional and I would hate for anyone else to get screwed over by them.

Even major problems that arose, she kept me in the loop of what was happening even got me a new unit in the building to stay in since problem would take a prolong time to fix. She was difficult to communicate with (it took her 7 months to tell me a plumbing job had been completed at my place); she did not complete an interior project that was required by my AOAO and avoided the subject as not to disclose that she had neglected to get it done; she was difficult to reach by my AOAO during a water leak incident that led to a new lock on my front door, installed out of necessity after a locksmith "broke in." These are not minor offenses yet her boss at MHP, Mrs. Kunimoto failed to acknowledge any of these as meaningful concerns and was unable to apologize for her company's poor performance with my property. I will look elsewhere and maybe you should too.

Negative experience: The rudest company I have ever spoken with. The woman who answered was not helpful at all and said point blank that they had no properties that accepted pets and that none of their owners would even consider allowing pets. Did not even want to try to help us because we had pets.

Fantastic experience: Excellent company, very professional, friendly staff, quick response, high integrity and trustworthy.

Negative experience: I have just gone through a similar experience as Michele W. has with Marie Hansen Properties. The incompetent, absent-minded and misleading agent that I dealt with was Druidy. I scheduled a showing with her for a unit in Honolulu. While we were in the unit, she mentioned that another person was interested. She persistently urged me to look at other properties on their website. If that was the case, then she should not have set up an appointment to show the apartment to me. After the showing, I told her that I would think about it. The day after, I spoke with her and she informed me that the other person was taking his time and "talking it over" with his family. She has not heard back from him in days. She assured me that if I submitted an application, she would approve it. I confirmed with her, letting her know that I am in temporary housing and if she would approve my application, I would not extend my housing since I will be moving into the apartment. She reassured me that she was in the office and she suggested for me to submit an application so she could finalize the application. Only if she meant what she said and if didn't lie to me and misled me... I tried contacting her multiple times after I submitted the application. She did not get back to me for days, telling me that she does not give her cell phone number out and that she does not work on weekends. Contradictorily, she texted me informing me that she decided to give the apartment to the other person. Suddenly she does have a cell phone but lacked the courage to deliver the message verbally. The other person had a co-signer that lives on the other side of the country. Meanwhile, I have a great job and excellent credit. It is right now 10:30pm on a Wednesday night. I am a single woman with NO PLACE TO GO tomorrow, on an island by myself. I reached out to her broker, all she could offer was an apology. An apology does not shelter me, nor does it reverse the consequences I have to face based on her agent's unfair and misleading real estate conducts. This is after Druidy making a point in telling me that all of their agents pride themselves in accuracy and helping people finding their homes. This management company is laughable and their business ethics and conducts are highly questionable. Stay away.

Fantastic experience: We are grateful to the excellent team at Marie Hansen Properties for taking very good care of our rental unit in Hawaii Kai for the last 15 years. From finding good tenants, to ensuring that repairs are taken care of, and advising us on a range of issues concerning our home, Cheryl Kunimoto and her team have been there to support us.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend highly enough Marie Hansen Property Management. Cheryl and her team have managed my condo in Makiki for years. As an out-of-state owner of a rental income property, they have taken all the worry and stress off of my shoulders and have handled everything with efficiency and kindness. If I could give them TEN stars I would.

Negative experience: I have had a terrible experience with Marie Hansen, and I am really disappointed because the staff seems so nice. But nice isnt really important if they are unable to do their job efficiently and well. The first sign of trouble was when they told me they would let the condo building know my move in date. I was trying to reserve the freight elevator and they assured me that they would do it for me and that this was normal procedure for them. Imagine my suprise when I called to check the day before my move, and the building had no record of my move. They wanted me to change the date of my move however I had already hired movers and arranged everything else and I could not change the date. This led to an entirely stressful and horrible experience. The next big foul up they did was they were not charging me the correct amount for my electricity usage. Five months after I had already been paying for electricity, they told me that they forgot to charge me an extra 200 $ that I owed for each month. What made me most angry about this was that I had thought I was using electricity within the budget I had given myself, however because they didnt tell me how much I really owed each month, they let me go almost 1/2 a year thinking I was within budget when actually the bill was much much higher, then expected me to just pay it right away. Then when I told them what an inconvenience their accounting mistake was they were completely unapologetic and just kept telling me that I was responsible for my electricity usage. Well.. duh--- of course I am. An apology for the "oops" mistake that you made which ended up costing me more than a thousand dollars would've been nice though. Ultimately, I am really unhappy with this company. I think they do a horrible job on the renters side. They are slow to respond, cant add and subtract correctly apparently and then when they make mistakes its obviously the other persons fault and they expect you to pay. I have never had so many issues with landlords/property management companies in the 20 years I have been renting as I have now, and I honestly dont know what to attribute it to except for the people who work here.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a Management Company on this island look no more. Marie Hansen is the best. They are professional caring people who want to make the needs of tenant and owner met. They treat your property like their own. They go above and beyond to find the right people to fix any problems without being ripped off. Connie will always be there to answer any questions about bills payments etc. and give you what you need promptly. So look no more go to Marie Hansen..

Fantastic experience: I can only speak well of Marie Hansen Properties (MHP). Doing business with Rhonda Hutchinson for almost 3 years as of now, I can report that repair orders have been addressed fast and in a reliable and reasonable fashion. Where previous management companies stall and promise but never act, MHP seems to be a beacon of light. Rhonda H. advocates between tenants and owners trying to negotiate fair market prices for their rentals and she is doing a great job being always available, keeping me updated and simply just doing her job. This is a role-model Property Management company, 5 stars.

Liz Ishimitsu is the property manager I work with and she occasionally provides memos and warnings to remind the tenants in our building when misbehavior is reported. Fantastic experience: After my husband received his PCS orders to Europe, I began researching property management companies to handle our condo. I had several interviews with lined up initially, but after the first interview with our now-agent Sue Bauer, I cancelled the rest. It was the right decision. Sue found us a great, no-hassle tenant and negotiated a rent that was several hundred dollars higher than we expected to get. I literally just signed the contract, handed her the keys and walked out the door. Easiest move ever!!! Since then, she has been incredibly responsive- answering every single email, text and phone call within just a few hours- and has gone above and beyond more than once. For example, when the post office screwed up and didn't forward our mail, she visited the tenant personally, collected the mail, and mailed us the bundle. We have had other rental properties throughout the years and have never had a management company as good as Marie Hansen Properties and certainly not an agent as professional, responsive and caring as Sue Bauer.
