Fantastic experience: If you're looking to buy or sell a property on Herron Island (or the vicinity), we can't recommend Karen Dorans enough. We were fortunate to have such a knowledgeable, trustworthy, and professional agent for selling an island property (especially during a difficult time in real estate). You'll be in good hands!

Fantastic experience: Absolute pleasure to work with, highly recommend Karen and her team.

Fantastic experience: Karen is by far the most incredible realtor we have ever worked with (this after having bought and sold multiple homes). She absolutely goes above and beyond to get the job done, is incredibly knowledgeable about the industry and local market, has fantastic communication, and is a delightful person to work with. There is no way we could have had such a fast, successful sale of our Herron Island cabin without Karen’s guidance, expertise, and general willing was to go above and beyond to solve any obstacle. Truly a one in a million professional with our highest recommendation!

Fantastic experience: Aloha! Karen Dorans Realtor is EXCELLENT❣️Very sharp, intelligent, thoughtful, hard working Realator. We are amazing how she went above & beyond her duties. She took us step by step to a Victory os a sale. Class Act! Mahalo nui loa Patrick & Jules

Fantastic experience: Karen is the best real estate agent I have ever worked with and at 70+ I've worked with a few. We had so many questions and relied on Karen for advice She is extremely knowledgeable (none of this "I'll get back to you"), professional, personable, energetic and a joy to work with. Karen made us feel like we were her only clients (although we knew that was far from true). When we were finally ready to list our property, Karen brought out a professional photographer she works with who does beautiful aerial shots. Karen also arranged the staging of our cabin. Within a week of going on the market (only the second showing), we had a full price offer. I believe without Karen's experience and advice, it might not have sold so quickly. She helped us in countless ways. There is no way I could list all of them but I have to mention a few: We had a window that needed replacing but short of calling out a window company, we weren't sure how to fix it. Karen noticed and said she could have it replaced. She removed the window (we didn't even know the windows came out...), took it to a glass company for us, had the glass replaced, expedited the order, picked it up and reinstalled it. Another example, she knew our decks needed pressure washing. One morning she showed up with her new pressure washer and washed one deck and started on the second. When we moved our furniture, she lined us up with 2 strong young men to help us move and even came herself to help. We were done in an hour. There were several concrete blocks left over from projects on our property. Karen said she knew someone on the island that could use them. She rounded them up and delivered them. It just seems to be in her DNA to help others. We needed some contractors for repairs and updates. Karen arranged those for us and even met the contractors at our property while we were off-island. To facilitate the septic tank inspection, she herself dug the trench! She truly has boundless energy and her reply to any problem we were having was "what can I do to help?" and she meant it. Karen told me she loved her job and it shows. I'll miss Herron Island and I am sorry I didn't meet her until we were moving.

Fantastic experience: My brother passed away and so it was my responsibility to sell his cabin. I appreciate the due diligence and the professionalism that Karen provided. There were so many things that she did up and beyond the call of duty. This was a very difficult thing. I so truly appreciate everything Karen did and would like to recommend her services to you.

Fantastic experience: Karen was a constant, thoughtful and comprehensive source of information and assistance, both before I decided to sell my property on Herron Island, and during the selling steps. She was a great listener, an excellent time manager, knowledgeable in all steps of the process and always available. I'd highly recommend Karen for your real estate needs on the Peninsula.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars does not even begin to be enough! 10 might come close. Karen Dorans was an absolute delight to work with, she went above & beyond & made the whole sale process so smooth & stress free. Being an international seller, trying to co-ordinate issues to be resolved pre sale was difficult. Karen didn't hesitate to assist where she could, working with Karen you know it's not just about the sale. Karen genuinely cares about her clients & wants to give them the best experience possible. I bought my property with Karen's help & sold it with her help. I cannot recommend Karen enough to anyone thinking of buying or selling the the area. Thank you Karen, you are a gem.

Fantastic experience: We recently had a great experience working with Karen Dorans for a property purchase on Herron Island. She has a wealth of knowledge that proved invaluable in navigating the intricacies of the location. The island is primarily accessed by a private ferry, and this can pose a serious challenge to someone who is not familiar with the unique and potentially costly nature of the various utilities. She has a great relationship with the island’s residents and is on friendly terms with all of the inspectors and service providers needed to make this location shine. Karen sympathetically went the extra mile in helping us to overcome our ignorance, as she worked to plug us into the Island’s community. The purchase process had a few unexpected turns as we changed lenders halfway through, but again, Karen’s familiarity with the real estate and financing nuances showed their worth. She is pleasant and easy to work with, but she is also diligent and has a keen eye for detail that allowed her to identify and mitigate potential concerns as they arose. All things considered we are so thankful that she made her expertise available to us, and I am certain that she saved us a great deal of time and potential frustration. If you are in the market for a new property, we highly recommend using Karen for your real estate needs.

Fantastic experience: Karen was super helpful all the way through selling my house on Herron Island. She has a fantastic command of the real estate in the local market and macro trends in general. She has an amazing attention to detail in paperwork, so we went through the whole process with no corrective changes needing to be done on our side. Everything was well set from the start, making a sale that made both the buyers and sellers pleased. Thanks again Karen!

Fantastic experience: Karen is the most amazing realtor I have used in my life (I have purchased and sold a number of homes too)! Karen communicates everything well and goes above and beyond. She helped me to work out a county septic mapping issue that needing solving. At one point, Karen dug up the ground to find the tank opening which saved me money! She was able to foresee a survey issue and alerted me so I could resolve before I sold my home. Karen also helped me to get my bank account into a trust account which I needed since home was in a trust. If u want the very best, use Karen Dorans! She will not disappoint!

Fantastic experience: Karen went way above and beyond in representing us in our purchase of a property. She created the best buying experience we have ever had and we couldn’t have been happier. If you are looking for an agent who is knowledgeable, proactive and willing to go the extra mile, Karen should be your first choice.

Fantastic experience: We’ve bought & sold 8 properties over the years & Karen is the ONLY realtor we’ve ever worked with who was proactive and helpful. She took care of everything. She measured so I could plan accordingly for furniture, she set up the septic pump out, she stayed for the inspection, she called multiple contractors for bids…the list goes on. Plus, she knows EVERYONE! She’s got a person to recommend for any job! Excavation? Tree removal? Bath demo? Karen’s got you covered!

Fantastic experience: In our history of selling three homes Karen is the very best realtor we have worked with. Her marketing skills are excellent. She kept us well informed on the market in our area. She is always pleasant, easy to work with, and professional with every facet of selling. We would give her ten stars! Mike & Judy

Fantastic experience: Karen is wonderful to work with! After a job related move out of state that was always intended to be temporary, my husband and I came to realize that we would not realistically be able to return to Washington as we had planned, and so we sadly made the decision to sell our remaining property. Karen was the listing agent when I bought the property years before I even met my husband, so it was natural to call her to help us unload it. I was worried that it would be difficult to coordinate as we live several states away, but it wasn't at all! We thought the property was worth less than Karen helped us to determine, and our biggest fear that we wouldn't be able to sell before the next HOA fees and utility bill cycle was up again also turned out to be unfounded as Karen priced it perfectly to sell before our looming deadline. Karen's valuable experience, professionalism, and appropriate level of contact throughout the whole process made this "big ordeal" that we'd be dreading for so long very quick, easy, and painless. We highly recommend Karen Dorans as a realtor, and if we ever find life pointing us back to the region, she'll be the one we will call to get resituated for sure.

Fantastic experience: Karen Dorans is an amazing, dedicated realtor. Karen is passionate, knowledgeable and spends the time researching the properties she sells

Fantastic experience: Karen helped my brothers and I sell our mom's family cabin and was AMAZING. She was extremely professional, kind, and patient. She gave us great advice to get our cabin sold quickly for top dollar. But most of all, she went WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND the expectations of scope of work for most realtors by facilitating the needed work to be done on the cabin before it could be listed. This was accomplished through her vast network of contacts and intimate knowledge of Herron Island that only she can provide. Thinking of buying or selling on Herron Island or surrounding areas and need an experienced realtor? Just go with Karen. You will be very happy you did.

Fantastic experience: Karen is a knowledgable and hardworking realtor for Herron Island properties. She knows the island well, and I strongly recommend her for buying or selling Herron Island property.

Fantastic experience: Karen was so helpful and knowledgeable. She truly made our selling and buying process super easy. She’s fabulous!

Fantastic experience: Karen is by far the best realtor to have when selling your home! She helped in every way possible and got our home sold in just two days. She is always there for you and helps in any way she can. I wish we could use her anywhere we go!!

Fantastic experience: We recently had Karen Dorans sell our home on Herron Island, which she did an outstanding job with our buyer. Then she negotiated the purchase of our new house. That was quiet the feat, It involved Karen making three trips up to Shoreline through all the Seattle traffic and craziness. If it wasn't for Karen's persistence, we don't think the sale would have gone through. Many thanks, Karen, for your awesome job.

Fantastic experience: We are very happy to give Karen a five star rating for the following reasons: 1. She lives on Herron Island and is available within minutes to solve any problems that might come up. 2. She knows all the people that can make repairs and fix things 3. It's a small island and she is known and well-liked by all the islanders. 4. It was very valuable to have someone on-site when we could not be there. 5. She took the stress out of the situation for us, going above and beyond what we expected or even hoped for. Bravo!

Fantastic experience: Karen is very knowledgeable and a hands-on realtor. She keeps you up to-date and is familiar with big and little things that need doing. Karen is a real asset to Herron Island or any real estate she is managing. She is very thorough and her work ethics are excellent.

Fantastic experience: Karen did an excellent job with our property sale. She has excellent contacts to help with all the legal requirements and inspections which helps to facilitate the transaction.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic transaction experience with Karen. She is detail, knowledgeable, and handled everything smoothly and promptly for us, pretty much worry-free. We highly recommend Karen to be your next agent.

Fantastic experience: Our experience selling our cabin on Herron Island with Karen was fantastic!! We had several months of renovation on our property before selling and during that time Karen helped out in many ways to keep us on track toward our goal date to sell. She helped us over many hurdles, to the point of lending many hours of time to move furniture, buying items for the cabin and even giving up her beloved handyman to work on projects, etc.. She even stepped up to the plate by crawling out on our roof to wash off the skylights when we had no time to do it! There was paperwork to be finalized along the way that Karen was proactive on as well. She communicated well with all the details through text and email. Thanks, Karen for a job well done and for fetching us the asking price for our little cabin with the awesome view!

Fantastic experience: Karen was absolutely amazing! Her attention to every detail, listening to all our questions and concerns, and then artfully and successfully handling everything to perfection. She relieved our stress by taking on each real and/or imagined burden! She is very professional and down to earth, a joy to work with. My husband and I are so thankful she was our real estate agent. Karen gets our highest recommendation.

Fantastic experience: Karen has helped us with two different transactions. She helped to make sure that both transactions went smoothly. Karen was very communicative and always responded to questions or concerns in a very timely manner. She went above and beyond normal realtor duties! We would highly recommend Karen Dorans to others looking for an agent.

Fantastic experience: I can honestly say that I have never had a more pleasant experience working with a Real Estate Agent. Karen was the Seller's agent but she worked very hard to make the purchase of our new home as seamless and pleasant as possible (we chose not to use our own buyer's agent). We have purchased and sold 10 homes over the course of the last 30 years and I wish that we had had Karen to help us with all of those transactions.

Fantastic experience: As a full time Realtor who has been in practice for 20 years I couldn't be more thrilled with the results Karen produced for my family. From preparations to our move, she was not just resourceful and efficient, but she treated us like friends. As a testament to this, she went so far as to drive to Portland after the sale to bring belongings we couldn't fit on our initial packing day to us to save us a trip back to the island. Karen went above and beyond during the time our home was listed, made herself available at all hours and showed a commitment I rarely see in our profession. Her effort contributed to my wife and I receiving 27 offers on our cabin. Throughout the time we were receiving offers Karen was in constant communication with me, applying the strategy she and I outlined and ensuring it took its proper course. As a Realtor myself, I know that it is not just how we steward negotiations, but how we engage with our peers and prospective buyers that drives interest and influences offer terms. I had a front row seat to watching Karen juggle dozens and dozens of showings, field hundreds of calls and ultimately produce results that were well beyond the expectations we had for our sale. For anyone reading this who is looking for or planning to sell property on the KP or on Herron Island, trust us when we say there should only be one Realtor you consider -- Karen Dorans. I consider Karen a friend to this day and have put multiple friends in touch with her who all sing the same praises my wife and I do. Karen Dorans is phenomenal at what she does and we consider ourselves lucky to have worked with her and to know her.

Fantastic experience: This Relator was very hands on, knowledgeable and personal! She listened to our needs & concerns and actively and successfully fulfilled them! She was always available via text, email or phone and when presented with challenges was very creative in working through them with ease. If we could not be physically present she would be there on our behalf and kept us updated at all times. I highly recommend her, especially if your emotionally attached to the home you are selling. She defends your heart as well as your pocket book. She is pleasant and encouraging and truly handles all the little annoying details. She made the selling process easier which allowed us to focus on detaching and making peace within ourselves for needing to sell our island home of 23 years. Thank you Karen Dorans of Discover Herron Island LLC!

Fantastic experience: Great realtor on Herron Island

Fantastic experience: Karen was wonderful to work with. She knows Herron Island inside out and was incredibly helpful in walking us through the process of next steps with a vacant lot. I would highly recommend her for anyone looking to purchase on Herron Island!

Fantastic experience: Karen represented us recently in the sale of our home. She was professional, courteous and extremely responsive during the whole process. We feel that she went above and beyond helping us prepare our house for sale. Highly recommend her services.

Fantastic experience: “Karen is a delight to work with! She is an excellent communicator and real estate professional. Because of her attention to detail, our transaction in the purchase of our property on Herron Island was seamless!”

Fantastic experience: Karen helps the transition process beyond what normal realtors do for clients. With the island ferry limiting access at times, especially for our situation being from out of state, Karen took care of many things for us because she lives on the island. This saved me extra trips to settle issues during the closing of our home.

Fantastic experience: I have used Karen on three transactions. She is very knowledgeable with the market and strategic in negotiations. From meeting with septic companies(so I don't have to be present) to keeping title companies on their toes for a quick closing. She is a great choice if you ever plan on buying or selling.

Fantastic experience: Karen has been a delight to work with. We are now completing our second sale of property with Karen and we credit the sales, in part at least, to Karen's professional skills. Her communication with the sellers has been excellent as is her attention and follow through with detail with the sellers, buyers, and escrow. She follows up on all details of escrow to make sure all requirements are met and escrow closes on time. And all of this is accomplished with a great sense of humor. We highly recommend any buyer and/or seller to use her expertise. Ed and Sue

Fantastic experience: Great Service, Great Communication, Professional, Pleasant Demeanor.

Fantastic experience: Karen was extremely helpful in selling my home while I was out of the state. She not only found the best buyer, but she even went to Home Depot for me to get packing boxes and took my boxes of files to the shredding company. She made sure that the house was vacuumed before buyers came for their walk through. I couldn't have asked for a better realtor. She was responsive and cared about my experience.

Fantastic experience: I have been on both ends with Karen, purchased a lot, then fell in love with the island, sold the lot, and Robert and I bought our forever home. While there were some hick-ups in the process, Karen stepped in and handled everything very professionally. Her knowledge of the local area, how responsive she was with our emails and questions, and how easy she was to work with really made this more of an adventure than a task. Anyone looking to buy or sell out here would be crazy not to have her on your team. She goes above and beyond, she really is a Herron Island Gem.

Fantastic experience: We decided to sell our property on Herron Island after 23 years of enjoying it as a "getaway," a place to collect marine biology samples from the spit, a place for grandchildren to fish and camp, and as a retreat from academia. We asked around the island about a realtor we could trust, and the same name came up each time: Karen Dorans! We contacted Karen and met her at our lot (with trailer and deck), and she was prepared with all the information about the lot specifications, the water and electric systems, etc. We provided the septic tank drawings for a 3 bedroom tank and the drain field -- already in place -- and we signed a contract! Karen kept us informed of responses made by potential buyers, and responded to our inquiries about the procedures once a bid came in. Karen is an exceptional marketer! Her pictures OF our lot and FROM our lot would fill a Pacific Northwest Travel magazine. On top of that....she had a colleague with a drone take pictures from above that showed the property, the spit, and the sandbar (all part of the property). When we signed the sale contract Karen kept us informed of each step necessary for closing. Karen has a great sense of humor, is efficient and accountable, and is a consummate professional.

Fantastic experience: Karen did a wonderful job listing and selling our cabin on Herron Island. She was very helpful locating someone to help with a minor plumbing problem prior to listing our property and helped us work through the three offers that came in on the first day our cabin was listed. Very professional.

Fantastic experience: A++ Karen Dorans has real estate business savvy any buyer and/or seller needs for the entire process. She stays right on top of it all & is committed to making sure everyone is informed in a timely manner - every step of the way.

Fantastic experience: Karen is an exceptional realtor, putting herself out for her clients, both sellers & buyers! Completing all tasks with professionalism & assisting with all queries quickly & succinctly. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Karen is wonderful real estate agent. Karen is very knowledgeable in all aspects of Herron Island and is a very honest real estate agent, which we really enjoyed working with her. We have bought and sold with Karen and it was a smooth process. We really appreciate her and it is a bonus to have a real estate person on the island. (we love Millie too)!

Fantastic experience: Karen was an outstanding realtor to work with when selling my property! She is completely professional with all the advice she gives during the selling process. And she genuinely cares that the new owners are informed of how special Herron Island is and the members are with welcoming new people to our community. Karen is a wonderful lady who loves her job...it shows with the enthusiasm she exhibits with doing this work. I have gladly made numerous recommendations to others to have her sell their properties or to find a nice place through her.

Fantastic experience: I asked Karen to sell my rental property on Herron Island recently. She was FABULOUS with guiding me through the selling process. She was so professional, organized, informative, etc, that I was completely ‘stress free’ and shocked at how quickly my property sold for what she recommended as a fair market value. Consequently, I’ve made numerous recommendations to others who want to purchase or sell a property for contacting Karen. She has made us all happy with her services. I would love to be able to rate her MUCH HIGHER than 5 stars.
