RE/MAX On the Water / Bolivar Escapes Vacation Rentals

Experiencia negativa: We stayed at a property in mid April managed by Bolivar Escapes. They were wonderful to work with during the booking; however, that quickly changed when we reached out regarding an old rusty garage door broken and lying on the ground upon arrival. As soon as we opened the front door, the home smelled very musty. We soon discovered mold on numerous air conditioning ceiling vents, baseboards and a bathroom wall. Numerous pieces of the outdoor furniture was broken and rusted as well. Boluvar Escapes stated we would not be refunded because they didn't deem the stay to be life threatening and I should have notified them of an allergy to mold. They also let me know the property owner was remedying all the issues now, which certainly means they knew they had to fix them but refused to refund for the poor quality of the rental. At first I thought only the property owner was the problem in taking guests money but not maintaining the property, which is true. But the bigger issue lies with a professional management company that doesn't properly resolve clear issues and instead becomes childish by placing a one star overall review for me as a guest on Vrbo with 5 stars for communication, cleanliness and following property rules (that clearly equates, LOL!!). Do better Bolivar Escapes and own up to issues like a professional company should!! Offering a discount on a future stay was comical, as I would never stay at one of your properties again!!

Experiencia positiva: We stayed at One more day for Thanksgiving. When we arrived none of the beds had sheets and we did not have any towels. Also all the remotes needed new batteries. We have stayed at several rentals before so this is a first for us to come across this issue. The house is very comfortable but there aren’t any extra blankets so if you get cold bring extra. There also aren’t very many cups and all dishes are plastic. Good thing we had an informal Thanksgiving dinner! Also recommend getting a golf cart it’s is pretty far from the beach to walk.

Experiencia negativa: Don't trust their website to give you anywhere near accurate pricing. Just be honest about how much you charge. Dramatic difference from the description to the checkout. When is it actually $85 /nt? Don't give me seasonal pricing/surge pricing. From $85 is just a flat out lie if it goes all the way up to $587.40 plus tax.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a great expereince booking with Bolivar Escapes & really enjoyed our stay at the Coco Beach home. House was beyond clean, spacious with a perfect 2nd row location with a clear view of the water. Will book through them again without hesitation! We had zero issues except for responsiveness with one minor hiccup - we did not have our free Margartitaville passes in our rental. I tried contacting someone via text, email & through the portal they provide but got no response. If you have any issue just pick up the phone & call them instead! They answered right away on a Saturday & had someone immediatley bring over our passes. Great resolution & happy guests!

Experiencia fantástica: Bolivar Escapes made our impromptu beach getaway so easy! We made awesome memories at a beautiful vacation rental. The whole experience was wonderful - hours on the deck hearing the soothing surf, feeling the relaxing breeze and and watching the amazing coastal birds; plus, the beach was only a short walk away.

Experiencia fantástica: I would highly recommend Bolivar Escapes and particularly the home we stayed, Casa Chillax! The home was as advertised in photos. When we arrived the hot water heater was shut off. Maintenance arrived within minutes. An hour after that there was a power outage for the entire block. Electrical company issue. The home had a back up generator and with assistance from extremely friendly and helpful neighbor, we did not have to sit without power for few hours the outage lasted. Awesome home. Awesome little neighborhood in a central location.

Experiencia negativa: My opinion and 1st amendment right based upon my personal experience. If I could give negative stars, this company would get it. Horrific experience using them as my property manager in Crystal Beach. Their staff was extremely rude and unorganized. When I say unorganized, it's only because I have no proof they were renting out my property under the table and not paying me for the rentals. I had to request my revenue every month and was always given an excuse to why I have not received it. I do not recommend this agent or office for any Real Estate transactions. TREC will be notified as well.

Experiencia fantástica: Fabulous week at a wonderful beach house! Boliver Bliss was the perfect place for our 4th of July family vacation. Plenty of room for the whole family and just steps to the beach. Kitchen was full of all the necessities; beds were comfy; bathrooms were clean (good water pressure, too). Porch had a great view of the water with deck chairs to relax and watch the sunrise or just gaze at the waves. Lower patio has a grill, picnic tables, and porch swing for family to hang out. Office was easy to contact if needed with prompt responses. Definitely recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: We had a great experience renting Seas the View over spring break for an extended family gathering. We were super comfortable with 4 adult couples and 5 children under 8 years old. Beautiful view, house was very clean and amenities were exactly as described. The management was very responsive and came within hours to fix a few minor issues we found on arrival. I would definitely stay with them again and would recommend, especially if you are considering booking directly rather than through an app.

Experiencia negativa: We have stayed in two Bolivar Escapes managed homes within the last month and BOTH have had significant issues. Flip Flop Nation didn’t have hot water or soap as advertised. They resolved the problem quickly and we were grateful. Then the worst experience we had was the Sea Esta House off Gulf Shores and Ave J - great view and pretty pictures but the house was awful! We couldn’t stay in the Master due to it being covered in a BLACK FUNGUS - spores everywhere. Air ducts were black and returns were filthy. The master shower didn’t have any pressure and wouldn’t get hot! We alerted the Mgmt company and they came and basically said we didn’t understand how houses work. Oh, we woke up without water - it had been turned off! That is why Mgmt came over - no water - black fungus - items again not provided as advertised - for the amount of money charged - the experience should have matched the advertisement. AVOID THIS HOUSE until these significant issues have been resolved. We have pictures too just couldn’t load them. We don’t typically give reviews as we know sometimes things just happen out of anyones control however in this case it was too much NOT to warn consumers. We were surprised by the perceived lack of care taken of the home. We were told the owners didn’t want to address the issues so AVOID Sea Esta until it’s cleaned up.

Experiencia fantástica: We stayed at the Hawk’s Inn and had a great time. Cabin is in great shape, clean, convenient location, and good value relative to other rental cabins. Cabin is on the canal and our 2 year old enjoyed feeding the turtles and birds. Mosquitos were basically non-existent in the middle of August, which was a nice surprise.

Experiencia negativa: BEWARE of renting from Bolivar Escapes. The fine print on their contract says they can switch the house on the contract without confirmation and refused to give me a refund. They have corrupt policies focused on profit and they don't care about customers. The beach house we rented was sold by the owner 3 months before our rental date. Bolivar Escapes sent me 2 emails in less than 1 week but I didn't see the emails in time. So without my acknowledgment, they changed my reservation from a Beach View house to a house that was so far away from the beach that they admitted it would require a Golf Cart rental to get to the beach. They never contacted me through the VRBO app (where I made the reservation) and never attempted to call me directly. Just emailed me a contract with the address changed. But I didn't realize it was different until closer to the trip when I looked it up on Google Maps. They refused to give me a refund because the full refund date was passed. The lady in the front office was polite but firm that this is their company policy. They have the right to switch houses on you! After many calls, they finally told me that they would give me a refund if someone else rented the new house that I never selected. On VRBO, I could see that the house became fully rented. After more calls, they gave me a partial refund and charged me for what looks like 1 night stay. Over 1 month later and 3-way calls involving VRBO, they still have not explained why they did not refund $347. They spout random policies when we call them. But there is no explanation for this in the fine print of their contract. The house was fully rented to new people so they got all their money. They simply decided to keep my $347 because they could

Experiencia negativa: We had rented the “Sea La Vie” beach house from here 2 years ago and it was excellent. We just recently rented the same beach house and we were sadly disappointed. The beach house wasn’t cleaned very well at all. The floor hadn’t been swept or vacuumed, there were stains on the furniture, and when you came in the front door, it smelled like cigarette smoke, something that is not allowed in the beach house. My wife stepped on a small sliver of glass from some sort of bottle on the floor in the kitchen and sliced the bottom of her foot, which caused her to start bleeding, which is of special concern since we were going to the beach and going to be in the ocean. The AC vent was covered in dust and had looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or the filter hadn’t been replaced in a very long time. 2 of the lights were out in the kitchen and the doorknob to the deck was barely hanging on, which is a huge safety concern. When I called about those things, they sent the supervisor of the cleaning crew over and gave us disinfectant spray and other little things that didn’t really help. One of the kids beds had a stain on it and the lady said “It’s just dirt”. And “Can you just live with it?” She said that they are understaffed and have 70 beach houses to keep up and they have only 2 hours to flip and clean. Our check out time was 10 but our check in time was 4. That’s 6 hours in between. If that’s the case, then they need a longer turn around period for cleaning and etc for cleanliness and safety reasons, especially since we are still under a pandemic. They said that they would send someone from maintenance to check the AC vent, but they never showed up. The furniture had turned a yellowish color from all the smoking that had been done in the house. We couldn’t leave the windows open because the mosquitos were really bad. On top of that, one of our kids accidentally forgot to pack her doll and we know exactly where we left it. When we called about it, they said that no one has found anything and that they always turn in whatever they find, basically saying that we were lying and didn’t know what we were talking about. As teachers we recommended this beach house to others, but not anymore.

Experiencia negativa: This vacation house has been the about worst one we ever stayed in. Absolutely worst. Floors weak and actually falling in flooring coming up description was not right. And it started by us not being able to rent our normal house that we have stayed in for the last 3 years they moved us 3 times and say this house is better and it cost more a day and is a pot nicer. This house should not be rented until they have fixed the floors

Our rental property had power for 6 out of the 24 hours we were there. When the power was on the air conditioner did not. The place was infested with ants. It reaked of cigarette smoke. When we tried to contact the owner of our rental we were told that person did not really exist. So they are cheating airbnb out of reviews. They refuse to contact us but keep denying us a refund for the two nights we could not safely stay in the house

Experiencia fantástica: We stayed in 'Sea La Vie' July 5th through the 8th (2019). The rental was in excellent condition. We included linens with our rental to minimize what we had to bring with us. We had a great long weekend, and loved the semi-private porch.

Cody works very hard for what you need and want. If you need something Cody will find it. He's great in our community. Cody is very well known and loved man. He has a great family.

Experiencia negativa: NOTED I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE The night before we checked out we reviewed the email sent to us about the check out process and what needed to be done. It stated: (Taken from the email) On vacating the property please bag all trash and place outside in the receptacle. ✔ Please empty the refrigerator. ✔ We shall arrange to clean the property after you leave. Tenant is also responsible for removing all personal items from the property. ✔ We did all of what was asked. We left dishes in the sink, and some oil in the frydaddy because we didn't want to dump it down the sink. The email stated WE SHALL ARRANGE TO CLEAN THE PROPERTY AFTER YOU LEAVE. Assuming that since it stated this and there is also an $85.00 cleaning fee, some dishes would be included in this cleaning fee. We were charged an additional $50.00 for someone to do the dishes! We left the rest of the house completely empty and free of trash. We would have done anything else that was asked of us including the dishes. Not to mention $50.00 for 10 minutes worth of dishes is a pretty hefty prices tag, especially when the guidelines of how to leave them is not specified. The biggest issue is how extremely rude the lady from Remax was when she called me. She spoke to me like I was a child and then hung up on me. My husband has called back, asked to speak to someone about all of this, he was also hung up on and no one has ever called him back. We usually rent from Swedes and we will definitely be going through them from now on. I would never rent a property managed by this Remax again. If I owed the property I would be so embarrassed to have a company like this managing my business.

Experiencia negativa: August 5th we booked a house for a whirlwind 2 day trip through Home Away and this company. It cost us over $520 for 2 nights and we were not even allowed to check in until 3-5pm on the first night (and we had to leave by 7 am after the second night due to work schedules). We followed all their rules, had to bring our own towels, sheets, TP, etc, no shoes in house, make up beds (with no sheets) before you leave, fold blankets and put away (apparently they wash nothing), wash and put away dishes, put everything back where you found it, reset thermostat, remove all trash from the home, clean out fridge, etc, etc. On their suggestion sheet (dropped off with the key) I told them the house rocks in the wind and shakes severely when someone walks through the house. I also explained that there was either blood or tomato sauce on one bed and sofa when we got there, a black ring around the shower from not being cleaned, we could not use the oven without setting off the fire alarm because it was so dirty, AND the water was turned off when we were trying to leave to get home in time for work. They were lucky it came back on as we were walking out because I went back in and flushed the toilets for them. Then we had to drive 20 minutes the opposite direction to drop the key off at 7 AM to get home in time for daughter's shift at UPS. I never got so much as an apology. Then they had the NERVE to give US 4 stars on our review for overall experience, cleanliness, house rules, and communication. To make matters worse, they would never send me a link that actually worked to leave my own review.... Shady business and unprofessional. Will never go back there. The only difference between the place we stayed and camping was air conditioning, and it cost an awful lot extra for that. For less money you can get a luxury condo in Port Aransas where the people are friendly and you don't have to bring everything but the kitchen sink, or get charged extra for it. Also you have maid service, a pool, exercise room, elevators, and gorgeous beaches. And, it's CLEAN!

Experiencia fantástica: From T. Hendrickson 6-13 thru 6-19 - We stayed in Barefoot Escape which was clean, spacious, and nice. The bathrooms and kitchen are really great. We had a great time! We would definitely come back to this house - it fit our family perfectly. Re/Max's Customer service was A+ - answered all our questions - great to work with, would highly recommend.

Experiencia negativa: I would like to first: Give praise to the lady at Remax..Brenda. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make us feel comfortable and was as nice as anyone could ever be. However, We checked in on Wednesday and spent the first night sleeping in our car. Upon making the beds up we noticed bug running under the mattress, silver fish to be exact, a dirty diaper, cookies, baby bottle,and opened baby food. When we were in the other bedroom we lifted the mattress, looking for bugs in there, we found a bag of ,what looked like pot and rolling papers, under the mattress. I was not going to let my children sleep on this, I tried to find a hotel and there were no rooms available, any where. So we decided to sleep on the couch..another failed, disgusting attempt.There was blood all over the inside of the arm of the couch, under the cushion .I called the next morning and Brenda was upset that I did not call her the night before. I video taped all this on my cell phone and took several still photos and showed her. She was very apologetic and had an exterminator there within the next 2 hours. I spent the next day washing all the comforters, pillow shams, and mattress pads, that were on the bed at check in. So actually there were "2" days of my vacation wasted and ruined...I can't get these back. Would I ever stay there again..."NO... Would I ever rent from Remax again..."YES".. Just because of Brenda. My suggestion to anyone: "Do not rent Nunzio's" The furniture was falling apart, cheap, and nasty. A rocking chair with the arms falling off of it a table with the legs glued on it falling apart, bar stools with the legs bent. flimsy, nasty, not attached and dirty. The beds are uncomfortable and stained. The accommodations are for 11.. There were only 7 of us and no place to sit comfortably. The rocker was not usable and the bar stools were almost as bad. There was a hard bench like with a high table unusable by anyone to eat or sit and visit. Overall, the rental was a disaster and I could not believe I had shelled out that kind of money, and had to sleep in my car and work all the next day just to be able to sleep there. So if this is the only rental available Nunzio's....."MY ADVISE IS MOVE ON DOWN THE ROAD" Pam Gray
