Negative experience: After some major snafus with the original real estate agent I was working with almost cost me the purchase of the Manhattan home of my dreams (this agent was randomly assigned through Zillow...lesson learned, don't do that again!!), Laura helped my house purchase go through. Laura was initially very friendly, engaged, and responsive. Communication dropped off as the sale went through, however, and Laura never followed up with several of the things she told me she would do...and eventually she stopped responding to me altogether. Promises made about connecting me with local resources went completely unfulfilled (e.g. handymen, branch trimming - things she reassured me about in response to the home inspection, "Oh I know someone who can take care of that for you cheap!"), and I've had to navigate finding everything I need to fix up my new home in a totally new city & state completely by myself. Which is fine & what I would expect moving to a new area - but why the false promises about linking me to services she has "inside knowledge" of as a local property manager? Was it just to get me to go through with the purchase and avoid negative blowback from the seller's realtor (who she badmouthed & scapegoated after her relative missed a deadline that almost allowed the seller's realtor to FORCE me to make the purchase)? My lingering impression is Laura was much more concerned about avoiding a "bad review" of her real estate work (as the original agent who botched my home purchase is a relative of hers who works with her) than actually caring about me as a person or meeting my needs as a homebuyer. My experience purchasing my home was made 1,000 times more stressful as a direct result of working with Laura & her team. I am not a first time homebuyer, and the next time I purchase a home I am planning to do so WITHOUT a real estate agent because of how awful this experience was. I *LOVE* my home and am grateful Laura helped pull the sale through, but I was left with a sense of fake niceness & false promises - an unfortunate & disheartening initial introduction to Manhattan, which I have otherwise found to be quite caring, genuine, & compassionate. I am SO grateful my experience with Laura Ebert & her office has not been indicative of my broader experience with Manhattan.

Negative experience: So me and my fiancé just bought a house a week ago and we were kind of in a rush to get into our house. She assured us that she was handling everything but, for one the sellers didn’t even move out the house until over a month of us purchasing the house so my fiancé and I had to be at his new duty station before we could move in. We were in a hotel for 3 weeks and of course the army only pays for 10 days staying at your hotel. So when we finally could move in my fiancé had to go sign paper work which she had lied about how much we would be paying a month for our mortgage which really wasn’t a big deal but, then when we move into our house the hot water wasn’t working and finally we figured out that we had to call a gas company to turn it on was never informed.Then when we figured it out we called the gas company to came and turn it on the guy came and he told me the water heater had a part that was broke and that we would have to buy a band new water heater so after already having a higher mortgage then what they said now we have to buy a brand new water heater . Plz just make sure to inspect everything yourself bcuz they will just not do it then when you contact them will not give you any type of help

Fantastic experience: We were relocating to the area in 2018 and Laura was referred by a trusted friend. She was very patient with our detailed list of 'must haves' which was important since most were non-negotiable as we don't plan on moving again. This really left us with a short list in a semi-hot market at the time working with placing contingent offers. It was a chaos for us - selling in one city/buying in another, but she was steadfast. I appreciate her professionalism, attentiveness to answer questions or get us in to see homes {sometimes the same house for a 3rd time - ha!} while I was in town and even helping to negotiate with the builder on getting the keys a tad earlier due to unusual circumstances. She is very knowledgeable about the area, the process and having purchased several homes over the past 25 years - she tops the list as the best we've had!
