Negative experience: We visited the open house at 620 E. Glenwood in Fullerton today and left extremely put off by the experience. When we walked in (the door was already ajar), someone called out “come in,” but no one actually greeted us. We had to look around to figure out who had spoken. One agent was sitting at the dining table and appeared busy, which is understandable, but moments later, another couple walked in and she immediately got up, greeted them warmly with a smile, handed them a flyer, and started a conversation. The difference in how we were treated was hard to ignore. Later, I asked a simple question about the neighborhood and neighbors. The response I got was: “how should I know about the neighborhood or the neighbors? I never met anyone or talk to anyone or see anyone.” I was then told to “drive around and sit in my car” if I wanted to learn about it. Her tone was openly dismissive and sarcastic. It was not particularly busy as it was just our family of 4 and the other couple touring the house. Basic courtesy and respectful communication should be consistent for everyone. This experience did not reflect the level of professionalism we expected.

Fantastic experience: In all of our years purchasing and selling homes, James and Martina were the absolute best experience. We had a short window of time moving out of state and the process they put in place made in seamless. The advice and support that each of them provided us made us extremely comfortable with each decision and they made this a very pleasant experience. My wife and I recently bought our first home and worked with James on looking for homes, making offers, and going through closing process. James was exceptionally patient with us throughout the process, including when we decided to take a 1 year pause in our housing search. Fantastic experience: This past spring, after my mother's passing, I was faced with the task of selling her home. She had previously worked with James and Martina Bobbett when selling a house in Fullerton and later buying another, so she recommended that I use them for this sale as well. Having bought and sold four homes in Orange County since 1995, including two in Fullerton, I thought I was familiar enough with the process and initially considered going with an agent of my own choice. Fantastic experience: My wife and I worked with James directly for almost one year to try and purchase a house. Through the process he showed patience and a great understanding of real estate and current market conditions. We eventually found a house and he went all out to ensure we secured the house. When it came to selling our existing property he again showed knowledge of not only real estate, but current market conditions. I was hesitant to list at his proposed price, but he brought forth strong reasoning and facts to support it. In the end he more than exceeded my expectations on the sale. Overall, James is very easy to talk to, honest and doesn’t pressure you to make any decisions. He will have as many conversations with you throughout the process as you need.

Needless to say, it was an emotional time for our family. Martina organized an estate sale as well as painting of the interior and some minor remodeling and repairs to bring everything up to date. I didn't have to worry about any of it - Martina handled every detail. She then staged it beautifully and brought a house that had been lived in for 20 years up to the present day. The results were amazing. Just after finishing the staging, Covid hit and everything was shut down. No open houses could go forward. Trying to show the house was difficult at best. The economy was in a downward spiral. We were certain the home (listed at $1.6 million) would be sitting empty for the next 6 months to a year. Despite our greatest fears, the house closed escrow on July 17, less than four months after going on the market. Every detail of the negotiations was handled expertly by James. He kept me informed every step of the way, gave me the pros and cons of each offer/counter offer, and while giving me sound advice, ultimately did everything he could to make sure my wishes were honored. I never felt pressured in the slightest to "close the deal." Not every home sale involves an emotional life event such as ours, but frankly, many do. James and Martina are experts in their field. But more importantly they are compassionate, understanding, calm and supportive. If you want knowledgeable, experienced agents who will guide you through such a significant life event as buying/selling a home in the manner a close friend would, you would be hard pressed to find a better duo.
