Fantastic experience: We are on our second go around with Lakestone after moving to Madison and back again. Everyone there is wonderful to work with. Their maintenance staff is professional and competent, not to mention friendly. Jess and the others in their office perform equally as well and respond almost immediately to inquiries and requests. We have experienced not so stellar property management at other properties that we have lived at. Lakestone is better in every aspect.

Fantastic experience: New resident to Lakestone Properties.Put a maintenance request in. The very next day a maintenance supervisor came to discuss my needs. Some items had to be ordered. But within 2 weeks all was completed. All was done as I requested. All was done without any issues.

Negative experience: Lakestone Properties (which is the same owner / registered agent of Lakestone Storage) purchased the building from which I was renting a storage unit. They significantly improved the building by paving the lots and adding much-needed security upgrades. Unfortunately, within 12 months, my rent DOUBLED. I communicated with their office personnel several times before the rent increase, and the interactions were very congenial; they were helpful and friendly in all our exchanges. When my rent doubled, I contacted her immediately, and the conversation took a dramatic turn. The friendly, helpful person was gone, and I was dealing with someone who didn't care about me at all. It was night and day. She explained that they only raised my rent once and that while the previous owner may have raised it, it was of no concern to her or Lakestone. Besides, "you're still below the market rent." I explained to her that "market rent" meant nothing to me as the customer and she couldn't care less (as if I should be thankful that I was able to rent from them at all?). That's what you can expect - just be advised. As a real estate business owner, I would never, and never have, treated my customers this way. Would I do business with Lakestone again? Maybe. If I had other options, I'd probably look there first. Buyer be advised.

Fantastic experience: Lakestone actually pays attention to what's going on at their properties...much more than most managers!!!! The building is clean, quiet and feels like a small community. From what I can tell, Lakestone is a small, local, family run, business & I love every bit of it!!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve rented from Lakestone Properties for nearly 6 years now and have not a single complaint to make. When I had my payroll companies change (only twice) and was going to be a day late paying the rent, I called and they understood. When the garbage disposal, dishwasher, and garage door failed (not their fault) they remedied the issues with expediency. I’ve outlasted a few of their property managers and everyone of them has been accommodating and accessible. Over the last few years I’ve heard horror stories about rents and landlords … but my experience with Lakestone has been nothing but exceptional. Thanks guys!

Negative experience: I would read all the reviews here, because it seems as if this company pays people to leave positive reviews. They own storage facilities as well. My wife and I were looking for a storage unit in Wisconsin. We have a vacation home up there and we're from the Chicago Suburbs. We've been storing nearby and would like to change that so that we aren't moving our boat and a our snowmobiles from here to there. We went looking for some places online that would be easy to access from both Chicago and our getaway home. We always read reviews before we call. We plan to look at three places Saturday morning, if possible. We were simply looking for other people's experiences since we aren't from there and Saturday hours. Most people would assume unless it's a parking garage that if a place is open, someone is there. I saw the most odd behavior form this woman Brooke in the reviews, so my wife called, because she thought the customer was in the wrong. My wife put the call on speaker, and she had the same woman named Brooke answer the phone that there was a to-do with online, answer her phone call, and the customer was DEFINITELY telling the truth. Look at my other review on their storage facility, and you'll see what I'm talking about. The one man from years ago simply wanted to use the bathroom, and that same snide attitude I heard over the phone but in writing. Ordinarily, I'd say disregard some of the bad reviews, because people are more likely to complain than to compliment, but in this case, our experience was nothing like the positive reviews, and I've been told to watch out for companies paying people to leave positive reviews. This stinks that some businesses are so dishonest, because I've had such success with reviews leading to good experiences and away from bad experiences. I have no idea what's going on, and I'm just trying to be a good Samaritan here.

Negative experience: I have lived in this property since October 2020 the first few months were excellent until things break/ need maintenance/ have concerns. Water was gushing in my storage closet due to a water drain not properly connected to the garage door that came down on top of my car due inches of snow on the ground going up the ramp out of the garage and birds getting stuck in my vent. The rental management’s answer is sorry we are not liable call your insurance. Sorry we cant, we’ll call the contractors sorry this and nothing is done. We are left to our own vices, what they charge for rent is the same as in Madison because they can! I know they have a waiting list it’s why they are in capable to not help. The rental manangement is not knowledgeable when tenants need them and the sad part is no where could I find who is in charge of Lakestone properties Mcfarland / Madison WI. I would think twice about renting they are nice apartments but when you need something they will tell you what they could NOT do VICE what they could do good luck.

Fantastic experience: I've rented from Lakestone Properties for nearly 3 years now and they are by far the Best in Class where rental properties are concerned. A company that is completely committed to tenant satisfaction and no matter how small the issue (bathroom ceiling fan stopped working), repairs were taken care of in less than 24 hours. From location to floor plan to customer service, I could not do better for the price point. Marissa, is THE BEST property manager I've ever worked with - she is very responsive and never fails to follow-up.

Positive experience: Overall Apartment is great. They respond extremely quickly to maintenence and are very clean. Snow removal is not as great especially with the ramp you need to get up. I tried reaching out to the offices and got no response.

Negative experience: I would not recommend living at a Lakestone Properties building to anyone! Below are some of the most agregious things we dealt with during our two years at the apartment building. Although we were told the new building would've complete by our move in date, it was not. We were unable to use our walkout access for an extended period as there was a construction site outside our front door for the first 3 months we lived there. On 2 separate occasions, our apartment was entered without the proper notice being given. We discussed with owners of the company both times and were assured it wouldn't happen again, yet they could provide no support for this and it had happened multiple times. During the second conversation, an owner was reluctant to even say the management company was at fault as it was their vendor that entered. However, Lakestone gave them the codes to have access to our apartment. On another occasion, we were given proper notice, but the time of entry was a window of the whole day and one of the members of the household was walked in on naked while in the bathroom even though there was loud music playing, the lights were on, and it was clear there was a person inside. A small rent reduction was given for this occurrence. On yet another occasion, an employee had entered our apartment to add shelves and when they left, they not only left the door unlocked, but also ajar. When the person came to apologize for their error, he said "are you sure it was unlocked? I swear I did it" instead of just apologizing for his mistake. It was difficult to feel comfortable living at our Lakestone Properties apartment.

Fantastic experience: Lakestone is awesome! They became our land lord halfway through our lease and I can say that they care about their tenants and do a great job in managing properties. Any questions or requests I had for them were answered in a very timely and professional matter. When my wife and I began looking to purchase a home, Lakestone provided us with all the information we needed to transition out of our lease early. They even found a sublet for our unit for the exact time frame we requested! When we were in the process of moving out, Lakestone even went above and beyond to rectify an error for us that was made by the PREVIOUS land lord (a very well-known Madison-based company). Again, they took it upon themselves to correct an error that they had absolutely NOTHING to do with just because they thought that it was unfair we had been put in that situation. I would recommend Lakestone to anyone looking for a great renting experience!

Fantastic experience: I've been in two buildings that they manage and I've been very satisfied with both.

Negative experience: Apartment’s are very eye appealing. Nice location. Dog friendly. Very noisy. You can here activity in the halls and outside, as well as plumbing from other units. Management is extremely disorganized. Very slow communication and response time, if any. Expect to have to follow up, long wait/resolution times. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Lakestone Properties provides a comforting environment inside and out. You can’t beat their locations being within a short drive to Madison without having to deal the Madison traffic daily. The experience has been great!

Fantastic experience: I live in the North Cape Commons apartments in Mount Horeb, and I must say, what a gem! The drive out is BEAUTIFUL. The apartment is wonderful. I was taken away by the flooring, and the fact that the walls had color instead of being a plain white. Beautiful carpet in the bedroom. I love my neighbors, and the surrounding neighborhood and community. I also enjoy being just miles from Cave of the Mounds and Blue Mounds state park. The only downside is that it's a far drive for my lifestyle and the things I'm involved in, so I find myself spending so much in gas that it would be cheaper to live closer to town. But every day, I wish that I could pick up this entire community and move it closer to town, because it's truly perfect.

Fantastic experience: I have been with them since May of '16. After getting rid of the previous property manager (she was a bit much to deal with) things have been smooth ever since. The property has always been beautiful and location is great (close to shopping, restaurants and movie theater). Maintenance is prompt with all requests. I love it here!

Fantastic experience: When Lakestone announced they would be building a new apartment building in Oregon, I was so happy. One particular management company had held a monopoly on the rental market in town for years, and it was rent from them or move out of the area. We approached Lakestone/Alyssa right away and through the entire process it was obvious this was a company that actually cares about their tenants.

Fantastic experience: Recently we moved from home owners to a duplex rental at Preston Place in Mc Farland, WI. We are amazed by the benefits provided. Stainless steel appliances (range, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher) and washer/dryer are included and maintained by Lakestone Properties. We didn't have the expense of buying or moving appliances and when maintenance or replacements are required, a simple call is all we need to do. Their maintenance people also cut and maintain the grass, clean out the rain gutters, shut off the outside water come winter and regularly replace furnace filters. About the only things we have to do is set out the garbage weekly, throw in a bag of salt for the water softener periodically, and shovel snow from our driveway. For security, each duplex has lights that automatically light when dark. A bike trail is adjacent to the property. A Pick N' Save grocery store is .6 miles away. There are 8 bar/restaurants within a mile so we can easily bike or walk. How lucky we were to find this place and there was an opening, we give it 5 stars. Bob & Sandy Dzikoski
