This will sound hyperbolic but our experience buying our new home/selling our previous home with Susan is hands down the best service experience we've ever had in our lives. If it was possible, we'd hire Susan to manage/run our entire lives. She's always organized, on it, and will do absolutely everything in her power to make her clients' lives easier. She anticipated all our needs and all the inconveniences that might arise (then addressed those) to make the process as smooth as possible. We didn't need to ask for help — she just gave it. She worked diligently to ensure we understood and felt comfortable with all the ins-and-outs of the process. I could list countless examples of above-and-beyond sacrifices she made to simply lessen the burden of selling/buying simultaneously with two young kids, whether it was driving to our house to meet a contractor on less than 15 minutes of notice after that contractor was late and we had another commitment that required us to not be home; or when she had a plumber at our house within ~30 minutes after a pipe burst the day before we went on the market; or when she sensed our inexplicable emotional attachment to a ceiling fan and had a contractor at the house the next day to install a new one so the old one didn't need to convey. She just took care of it all. And beyond that and perhaps more importantly, she also took care of us as people. Buying and selling is a stressful experience, and she was a kind and empathetic guide through it all. We will always use Susan and will always recommend Susan to anyone without hesitation. She's a special human being, and our gratitude is hard to express. It sounds strange to say about a realtor, but we were genuinely emotionally moved by all that she did for us. I submitted a query to her agency after reading about it and spotting a pride flag at the bottom of the page, and Chelsea was the one who contacted me. To call her ‘tireless’ doesn’t completely encompass how hard she’ll work for you. I didn’t know what exactly I wanted, and I didn’t know where I wanted to buy. The houses I sent her were scattershot over four or five counties, every point of the triangle, and beyond. Not once did Chelsea hesitate or complain, just worked to see every house she could for me. I was buying from 3000 miles away and the videos she sent were beyond helpful; I could tell just from them and her notes whether I wanted to pursue that house or not. We even went so far as to be under contract on a house and leave it upon completion of our due diligence—I apologized to her for all the work she’d done, and she assured me I had nothing to apologize for. I feel like I owe her a spa day and a new set of car tires. She went everywhere for me and worked so hard to make sure I found a place I could love. And I did. It was a long shot, the place we got, but she stuck with it and fought with me to land it. This is the third house I’ve bought, and the most comfortable I’ve ever been closing on a house. Experiencia fantástica: My partner and I just closed on a home with RED—incomparable, incredible work and I’m so grateful to have had our agent, Chelsea Merlini, and the owner, Susan Ungerleider with us on this journey. After months of talking about buying a house and getting out of wasting money on rent, we decided to start looking for an agent. Many, many people referred us to different realtors but I decided to just google “best brokerage in Durham” and RED popped up. I looked through their website and saw a diverse group of people who I thought would understand and relate to what we were looking for. We initially spoke with Susan U. and set up some trial showings to get a feel for RED’s work before signing on with them. Susan showed us a couple of homes, and then introduced us to Chelsea Merlini—seriously a perfect match for us. We did a couple more trial showings with Chelsea, and decided after our first meeting to sign on with her and commit to using Chelsea as our agent. She was flexible enough to show us another house later that day, and we then decided on a whim to go back to the first house we saw with Susan. Things happened quickly as we decided it was the one, and Chelsea immediately was available to start strategizing our offer. We made two offers, the second one getting accepted. As first time homebuyers, Chelsea explained all the steps and phases of a real estate transaction and made what otherwise could’ve been an excruciating, anxiety-inducing experience, a fun and easy one. We got incredibly lucky, and were quickly under contract UNDER asking in this crazy market. Chelsea was there every step of the way, from picking up our DD check, meeting me at my work to quickly go over our plan, to organizing all of our inspections and vendors throughout the process. She absolutely went to bat for us during negotiations, and we closed on an incredible deal thanks to her hard work and dedication. One crucial thing that made working with Chelsea and RED so great was her responsiveness, taking the time to get back to us quickly, and being available for questions or freak outs at any time. In fact, Chelsea made this process so easy for us we almost forgot we were in the middle of buying a house while we were in due diligence. I know she put an enormous amount of time and energy into our deal, and both the work we see and the work behind the scenes made this a super smooth purchase from day one to sitting at the closing table. Even now as we are moving and having work done, Chelsea is quick to respond with vendor recommendations and advice. She shows up to let vendors in if we’re unavailable, and is always a text or call away. I have incredible respect for her and am so grateful to have had the experience we did. While we were still looking at houses and hadn’t decided to make an offer yet, Chelsea never hesitated to climb into an attic or crawl into a crawlspace to examine everything and point out things we otherwise never would’ve noticed. It’s that kind of confidence in your agent that made us feel at ease going into the largest purchase of our lives.
