Experiencia fantástica: I have worked with McKenna & Vane since the end of 2025 on the rental of a townhouse. They are great at what they do and I have had no issues at all. I had been unsure about renting but know that it was the right decision using McKenna & Vane!

Experiencia negativa: As a tenant, this company consistently would schedule maintenance people without informing us. Pest control would come and spray chemicals in our yard and constantly left the fence open and we would have no idea, letting our pets out into the yard. Our concerns were ignored a lot by the property management team, include incorrect solar panel billing, asking for water stipends after they used a ton of water pressure washing the porch to paint, etc. I would be ignored for weeks by their employee Erin. The worst was at move out. They never sent us the move out inspection despite having a very detailed move in inspection. They said they don’t typically share that with tenants. I find that highly suspicious, in not outright illegal. Our lease stated we needed to pay for cleaners since we had pets. We did so and supplied them the receipts. Despite this, the company charged us after the fact for a cleaning service that occurred 17 days after we moved out and after the owner had had access and been doing work to the house. So essentially they billed us for cleaning their mess before the house went back on the market. Only after repetitive asking did they hand over the move out inspection, which lo and behold it did not mention anything about the house being “dirty” and was clean from our cleaners in all photos. The company has since completely ghosted us when we inquired about this inconsistency. Very dishonest property management.

The level of service they provide makes us the homeowners feel like they always have their eyes on our property, and we don’t have to worry about anything. With being transferred to Maryland from Florida, First Julie Kelley assisted me in finding a rental through her best colleague with me having my pets, from this point Shannon helped in a time of need when things were being delivered the day before my move she worked with her maintenance team in getting my items placed in the garage until my move in the next day. Shannon is very heartfelt and makes you feel welcomed and like family working her has been the best experience in my life, I could not ask for a more heartwarming property manager!!!

Experiencia negativa: I’ve reached out to this company multiple times over the past few months and have found their communication to be extremely poor. Their listing agents rarely respond or follow up, which makes it very difficult for prospective renters to even schedule a showing. It’s also concerning that their rental criteria appear to make it nearly impossible for many qualified applicants to be considered. While all property management companies are required to provide equal housing opportunities, this company’s high credit score requirements and rigid policies seem to discourage fair access to housing. For instance, I’ve been interested in the same property since July, and it’s now October. Despite my repeated efforts, I’ve never received a proper response or opportunity to view it. Instead, the property has been sitting vacant for months—listed, relisted, and even had the price lowered—rather than being offered to qualified applicants who meet fair housing standards. Based on my experience, this company does not demonstrate a genuine commitment to equal housing or responsive communication. I would not recommend McKenna & Vane Property Management to renters seeking fairness, accessibility, and professionalism.

Experiencia negativa: [ Tenant Experience Regarding Structural Damage and Mismanagement ] I am writing this review to share my deeply concerning experience with this property management company, which has demonstrated a pattern of negligence, legal disregard, and ethically questionable conduct in handling a serious structural issue at the property I'm renting. A couple of weeks ago, I reported a clearly structural and worsening issue involving a bowing wall and a severely cracked doorframe in a room that had previously been converted from a garage. The damage appears to stem from internal structural stress—not any misuse or accidental cause by the tenant. Photos clearly show that the exterior siding is fully intact, and the damage is progressing from within, suggesting a serious foundational or framing defect. Despite these facts, the management company immediately attempted to shift blame and financial responsibility to me, the tenant, without conducting any on-site inspection of their own. I was told that if I wanted an inspection, I would have to pay for it myself—and only if they later determined it wasn’t my fault, they might reimburse me. This kind of response is not only unreasonable, but also potentially in violation of Maryland landlord-tenant law, which places the burden of maintaining safe and habitable housing on the property owner—not the tenant. What is even more disturbing is that this company, which claims to have years of professional experience, should be fully aware of these legal obligations. Their continued insistence on pushing the cost of inspection and repairs onto the tenant—especially when the damage is clearly structural in nature—suggests an intentional effort to avoid their legal and ethical responsibilities. Furthermore, they have repeatedly delayed taking action, even as the damage has worsened. This is not just a matter of poor service—it is a clear breach of duty, and potentially a risk to the safety of occupants. I have documented all communication and evidence and am prepared to escalate the issue to the relevant state housing authorities if necessary. Tenants should not be forced to absorb costs for structural problems that they neither caused nor can control. If you are a prospective tenant considering working with this management company, I strongly urge you to reconsider. In my experience, they have acted in a way that is legally questionable, ethically wrong, and deeply unprofessional.

Experiencia negativa: Unethical and Untrustworthy Experience I had a very disappointing experience with these agents Deborah and Shannon. I was the first to tour the rental property and clearly disclosed up front that I had a small guinea pig that stays in its cage. These agents confirmed with the owner that it was okay before I paid the non-refundable $90 application fee. After our application was approved and we were told we were likely to get the home, the agent suddenly informed us of a surprise $250 “pet fee” — something that was never mentioned earlier. When I tried to discuss this fairly, communication became delayed and vague, and eventually I was told the owner had moved on with other applicants. This kind of behavior feels misleading and unprofessional. I strongly advise anyone applying through this company to be extremely cautious — and make sure all terms are confirmed in writing before paying anything.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. The maintenance side of the house is terrible and will try to press you into unnecessary repairs - that they would be glad to do for you for a charge (not trivial). Both Bill and Michael “investigated” a maintenance issue and informed me that I needed a new shower surround. I asked if they looked in the access door behind the shower - No. was their answer. Took me 10 mins to figure out the issue was nowhere near what they reported. So I fired them. Also, They will keep the $1000 holding account at the end. Just write that off, when you terminate them, they charge you for it. They charged different amounts for different townhouse (had 2 with them) just to deplete the holding account. Just like a bad landlord that keeps your security deposit for themselves. Do not use this company!!!! Under any circumstances.

Then we paid a professional cleaning service 2 clean as we were leaving. They took our security deposit and sent a $700 bill 2 collections. We stayed at their property 5 year w no incident. Owner begged us to stay. But they are underhanded. STAY AWAY FROM THEM.
