Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Karyn Porter enough! As a first-time home buyer, I was nervous about the process, but Karyn was incredibly thorough and went the extra mile to ensure I was getting everything I needed. She took the time to truly understand my individual needs and, more importantly, ensured that I would not be financially over my head, offering realistic and honest advice. What truly set her apart was her proactive attention to detail—she even took the extra step to thoroughly look into the HOA docs, which I wouldn't have known to do! She recommended a high-quality team of adjunct professionals (inspectors, lenders, etc.) to work with but with absolutely no pressure. Finally, her communication was excellent; she would respond to messages or phone calls within minutes, making me feel supported throughout the entire process!

Negative experience: Edit to respond- the buyers contractor came out on 12/18, and stated he did not need to go inside, the only concerns were boards on the deck. So I’m not sure why Karyn is stating that they needed more time to evaluate interior “issues.” Regardless, submitting an extension request two hours before the deadline ends is technically allowed, but I wouldn’t want my realtor acting that last minute! I don’t usually post things like this, but after our recent home sale fell apart, I feel it’s important to share our experience for anyone choosing a realtor. Karyn Porter represented the buyers on our home sale, and throughout the process, communication was consistently slow and last-minute. Our due diligence period was scheduled to end on 12/23. The inspection took place on 12/10, yet an extension request wasn’t sent until two hours before the deadline, followed by a repair request sent 15 minutes before expiration. Although we could have declined and proceeded, we chose to act in good faith and agreed to a repair credit—especially since both the buyers and Karyn are our neighbors. Then, three days before closing, the buyers terminated the contract. The termination was sent to our realtor with no greeting, explanation, or context—just the document. Our realtor attempted multiple calls, emails, and texts seeking clarification. Much later, the only response received was a brief text stating “personal reasons,” with no apology and no advance notice. Had we been informed even 24 hours earlier, we would not have packed our entire home into a moving truck and traveled hours away. Again, as our neighbors they knew our situation, and still gave no heads up (despite the termination being signed 23 hours before we received it, according to the time stamp). The lack of communication and professionalism caused significant, avoidable stress and financial disruption. This is our personal experience, but based on how this transaction was handled, I would not recommend Karyn. If you are choosing representation, I strongly suggest asking detailed questions about communication standards and how late-stage issues are handled.

While we were house hunting, she paid close attention to what mattered to me and showed great homes that matched my priorities - I never felt pressured to look at something I didn't like.
