Fantastic experience: Our family moved from Jersey city to Bergen county this summer. Initially we thought that we would be able to find our home by going to open houses and looking online. However, that quickly proved a daunting task. We met Barri Plawker at an open house and quickly realized that if we needed a realtor to help, she would be the one. Fast forward a few weeks and we signed her to be our agent - boy was it the right choice. Initially, she took us to check a few different houses to get a better understanding of the kind of houses we like - layout/features/finish. Then every other weekend we would look at houses with Barri, and virtually every day we would speak with her. She patiently educated us about Bergen county - desirable neighborhoods, potential flood zones, etc. We never felt rushed. Barri helped us expand our horizons. When we were looking on our own, we were focused on one town. Barri helped us realize that other towns were very close (3-4mins drive) and had homes that might work better for us. Her in-depth knowledge of the market and attention to detail helped us avoid over bidding for a house. Barri also cautioned us against another house that initially appeared desirable to us. After viewing it with Barri, we realized some of the potential problems with it. Avoided a costly mistake! We found our home in one of the towns Barri introduced us to. And her support didn't end once the deal went to attorney review. She was there every step of the way - from home inspection to securing home insurance. One example demonstrates her total commitment: after closing, there was a massive storm and Barri knew that we hadn't moved in yet. She drove to our home and with our permission checked the basement for any flooding/water damage. Thankfully, there wasn't any but we were so grateful that Barri had our back. We are so happy we went with Barri and would whole-heartedly recommend her.

She is so knowledgeable about real estate in this area so I had no hesitation in reaching out to her when we decided to start looking for a house in the Closter/Demarest/Cresskill area. She was quick to show us a few houses in all of those towns so we could get a feel for the type of homes and each town. Barri has an amazing ability to figure out what her client wants. When showing us homes, she would be honest about the pros and cons and was not pushy but was also realistic about the current market and the fact that we couldn’t wait too long to make a decision. We recently sold our home in Englewood Cliffs and had no hesitation calling Barri. Barri helped us from beginning to end, starting with advising us on how to best present our home to maximize its value. She walked through our home and gave us advice as to how to make things “better”, ranging from advice on how to remove hard water stains to staging of furniture. She was practical in her suggestions and we never felt like we had to do anything, but we trusted her guidance, her experience and the process. Barri told us what we needed to do to prepare the house for photographs. She brought in a professional photographer and videographer who were efficient and produced beautiful photos and video of the home. The listing went up within a week and the open house shortly thereafter. We had discussed how to price the house and we evaluated the local market to come to a listing price we were happy with. Again, Barri gave us her opinion but ultimately it was our decision. We received multiple offers within 2 days of the open house and we were in contract within a week! To make things even better, several offers were over the asking price. The contract negotiations were smooth and Barri was invaluable in helping discuss certain issues with buyers’ agent. She is honest and straightforward and knows how to focus on the important issues. I attribute that to her years of experience working in the industry and in particular the local area. She was not pushy at all and was not afraid to share with us what the pros and cons were for each house we visited. In addition, Barri is very warm and easy to get along with. You can tell she really cares about her clients. We bought a foreclosed property and Barri went above and beyond in helping us arrange the panel of experts we needed to get comfortable that we really understood the shape the house was in.
