Fantastic experience: This Dan Helwig Inc Realtors review is long overdue. They have managed our properties in Flourtown for almost 20 years and have done an incredible job. Have you ever tried to get a service person out to look at your property? You are lucky if they show up. With Dan Helwig Realtors they Always show up—and on time! Dan Helwig Realtors has the best service people I have ever seen. They are professional, prompt and reasonably priced. The fact that Dan, Mandy, May, Chris and the entire Dan Helwig Realtors team live locally also ensures prompt service. Dan or one of his staff often stops by the properties to be sure all is well. I receive regular emails from May regarding the monthly rents. Chris lets me know immediately if anything needs to be addressed. Communication with the Dan Helwig Realtor team is excellent; they get back to me immediately if I have a question or concern. We are retired and are traveling in our RV. I don’t have to worry about our properties because the Helwig Management team worries for us! They treat our properties as if they are their own. We feel like part of the Dan Helwig Realtors family—and a great family it is!

Negative experience: I speak from experience of Dan Helwig’s company (separate from reality company) that purchases and rehabs houses and then sells the homes thru the reality company. In the summer, we purchased a home that has rehabbed by one of Dans companies with his reality company representing him as the seller. After two weeks of living in the new house, we had new insulation put in. During this process, the workers had to cut into several walls and discovered major issues with newly installed duct work for the HVAC system.We communicated the problem as soon as we were aware to dan’s company doing the rehab. A few weeks later, we followed up with another challenge that was unfolding… in main rooms of the house the mortar in the tile flooring was appearing to “disintegrating.” Pleasant conversations followed with the company stating someone would be out to look at the situation and we all would work towards a mutually agreeable resolution. (We were told the takes great pride I. It’s work and stands by it.). This dragged on for months. The seasons changed from summer to fall to the start of winter. Since the one of the big problems with the HVAC involved the heating functionality of the system, we were forced to spend thousand of dollars in emergency repairs. We informed the company if the urgent need for repair. We provided a reasonable time for a response. Unfortunately, the response for the company came after we had to move forward with emergency repairs. During the repairs, a worker from the company finally came to the house… the worker even spoke the the HVAC contractor doing the emergency repairs. The staff member confirmed that there were problems/mishaps the HVAC system/duct work and tile work that the company did not correctly do the work. Upon leaving, The worker said that we would be hearing from the company in the near future to talk about a mutually agreeable resolution. That was at the start of winter. We’ve followed up several times and have not received any response. Now, with several more months passing by since the workers visit, I have given up hope that the company will follow thru to rectify the situation. So, I share our experience so others can be cautious and hopefully avoid the experience we’ve had, which has resulted in unexpected financial expenses, frustration, and disappointment.

Negative experience: As a property management company - my review falls in line with the below comments about how unresponsive, inconsiderate and unprofessional they are. There is no urgency in helping with issues and no care given to the well being of their tenants and what impacts urgent issues can have on their tenants. Any landlord who wants their property managed correctly, timely, and respectfully would look elsewhere as they are a waste of money and do not even respond to the landlords let alone the tenants.

This is the go to realtor when you want to purchase or sell. Amanda was the best by far realtor I have ever used. She was always attentive to all my needs, kind, and available anytime you needed her. Negative experience: I got scammed. Saw a rental unit on Saturday. Agent was 15 mins late and that’s when I should’ve known not to do business here. Saturday and Sunday I emailed and left voicemails for the agent on how to get an app. Nothing back on Monday. Monday I called two different people on how to get the app. May Dominic told me, and that way wasn’t working. Emailed twice for the app to be sent to me since the website wasn’t working on my phone or desktop. They sent the app in and then took the rental down within 20 minutes. They said the apartment is still available. I hand in the app on Tuesday morning with the app fee. I emailed them on the status because I hadn’t heard anything. An hour later they check my credit. The next three days I hear nothing with no emails or calls back. So $50 wasted. Please fix your website, carry apps with your agents, and hire someone to return emails and phone calls.

Negative experience: Everyone was very aloof and a bit full of themselves. Which is. Shame, so we went elsewhere. The lady at the desk, when you fist walk in (she had an accent) was extremely off putting. She could not even look up to make eye contact with us. Then dismissed us with a "someone will be out". She ignored us from there. Very unsettling from the moment we got there.

Negative experience: Took 3 months to to get my deposit back cheated me out of money and our security deposit charged us for problems that they are responsible for i will never rent from them again worst yr of my life

Fantastic experience: Elmer O'Brien is amazing. We worked together for almost 8 months to finally get me a home. He has worked wonders and really cares for his clients. I will definitely recommended Elmer O'Brien in the future.

Negative experience: I cannot speak for their Real Estate business (online consensus says they are great), but I can speak for the Property Management aspect of their company. I have never worked with a more unresponsive and terribly unorganized group of people. Pros: They are extremely responsive when they think you missed a payment (even though you paid in advance) Cons: Not responsive to emails. Lost numerous items that I have sent them. All around they try to avoid helping you. They took over the property a year into my lease. The previous realty company was great, but unfortunately the owner of the management company passed away and the property was picked up by Dan Helwig Inc. I am very understanding and made sure to help them through the transition. I did the following: 1) Sent them a set of keys because they did not have any. I went to the store and made a spare copy of keys and mailed them to Dan Helwig Inc (even though this was clearly a responsibility of the owner of the house, not mine, but I was nice about it). I sent them WITH MY RENT. They cashed my rent check, but LOST the keys!?!? I even labeled them with the address and taped them to the keys. They yelled at me saying I never sent them and made me make another set. I was not refunded for either of these sets. 2) They did not have any records of me paying my rent or deposit (never got it from the previous management company) so I send them a copy of every check to that date and included a table with all the payment dates. All forgiven because they just took over the property. Several months later, they tell me I have missed payments and I am behind on rent. AGAIN I send them copies of the bank statements with “cashed by Dan Helwig Realty” on them. REALLY?!?! You cashed the checks (SEVERAL CHECKS) and did not keep a record of any of them. 3) Any time I had a maintenance request I had to email multiple times and call to get someone to respond. 4) Finally, I had enough with this headache and moved out. I moved out and waited my 30 days. Nothing waited a few extra days…still nothing. No deposit check in the mail. So I email them on day 35. No response. I email again and then see a check in the mail the next day to find the check. It was dated when I sent the first email DAYS AFTER IT WAS REQUIRED BY LAW TO BE MAILED. They also did not have the decency to respond to my email even though they clearly read it and realized they needed to send the check. The property I lived at was great and I wanted to stay longer, but I could not deal with that nightmare anymore.
