Experiencia negativa: 0 stars if I could. I was a resident for 2 years and was constantly having to battle with the landlord all for a decent living. Mold in my ac unit which they refused to replace. Along with their maintenance men who just freely will enter your home with no consent. ( not cool, especially if you live alone) on top of that they will refuse to give back your deposit , even though I spent time and money to repair damages just for them to hold my money. My worst Nola experience bar far.

When there’s a maintenance concern, they’ve always handled it in a timely manner! The leasing agent, Vi, is always so friendly & helpful! Being a leasing agent myself (unaffiliated with MKC/separate Broker), it isn’t always easy to find good property management. Grateful to have that peace of mind to know issues are taken care of.

Experiencia fantástica: I lived at 724 Louisa and have to say it was a great experience. Vi Hoisington could not have been more helpful with the move in and move out. She was extremely accommodating and great to work with and always got back to me right away to answer any questions. There have also been several improvements in the property in the last few months. The building was repainted in bright colors. The locks on the gates were replaced. The courtyard was cleaned up. The parking area was repainted. There are clearly efforts to make everything as nice as possible. It was obvious that our apartment had been recently redone very nicely. There were minor repairs that needed to be made and maintenance was very quick and it was so easy to request maintenance in the app. The location is also perfect. We moved out of state, but I wouldn’t hesitate to live there.

We originally moved in as a couple and started in a one-bedroom, then transitioned into a spacious two-bedroom when our family grew. Throughout our time here, we consistently felt comfortable, safe, and well taken care of. The location is truly unbeatable—right in the heart of Freret, with a vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment just steps away. Mojo Coffee House up the street quickly became one of our favorite spots, and having Rouses next door was incredibly convenient. With Trader Joe’s coming soon, the area just keeps getting better. Our unit had really large windows, so we had a great view of the action on Freret Street. The building itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained. Whenever we needed any maintenance , service was always fast and professional. We really appreciated the privacy, the friendly neighbors, and the peaceful, community-focused feel of the building. The management team was consistently very friendly and helpful, which made a huge difference over the years. Especially, the leasing manager, Vi Hoisington. If you’re looking for a place with convenience, comfort, and a fantastic neighborhood vibe, we couldn’t recommend this spot more. We’re going to miss living here.

The apartment was in excellent condition when I first moved in and throughout my lease term, Vi was always very professional and accommodating. For any issues that arose, Vi was very quick to respond and promptly resolved any maintenance issues or other issues I had. I always felt comfortable communicating with her and knew that I’d be taken care of as a tenant. She’s an all around pleasant person to interact with and you can tell she cares about her job and puts in a lot of effort to provide a quality living experience for her tenants. Experiencia fantástica: I have been renting from MKC Properties for about 4 years and I have never had a problem that the property manager Vi did not solve quickly and to my satisfaction. She always answers my calls or texts on my first try. I have never had to chase her down or call/text multiple times. Plus they leave you alone so you're not constantly getting harassed about things you're doing "wrong" as a tenant. I will definitely continue renting from them whe my lease comes up and it's mostly due the lady Vi I deal with.

Thanks to Vi Hoisington, the leasing manager, I feel like a valued member of a small community. All of my concerns are dealt with promptly through a very attentive maintenance request system, but more importantly Vi goes out her her way both day and night to make sure any serious issues are handled quickly and in a way that feels more like a friend and neighbor than a property manager. I plan on living here for a long time. Witnessing how the maintenance is handled and constant improvements are made, makes this a happy and safe place to be. Thank you to Mike the AC guy as well, he works so hard and fast for long hours when people are in need. And the pool has been looking awesome this season! Can't wait to jump in. Experiencia positiva: I rented a property from MKC for approximately two years, and the overall experience was mixed. The property was plagued by numerous issues that necessitated frequent visits from maintenance personnel to resolve. Despite my meticulous documentation of the issues through detailed tickets and pictures, they were typically not resolved during the initial visit. However, they promptly responded to the issues. Apart from the maintenance problems, the house itself was decent and reasonably priced.

Experiencia fantástica: I lived at 4525 Freret short term while studying for the bar exam. I didn't have experiences with other management but Vi H. was so friendly and super accommodating. This building is pricey, but you can't beat the location if you're at one of the uptown universities. The building is quiet and clean and the convenient location was everything I needed as a young professional/student!

Experiencia negativa: They have a long-standing rodent infestation problem at 724 Louisa. They leave smoke alarm batteries unchanged at vacant properties, like 1512 St. Phillip, for weeks, disturbing the sleep patterns and ability to work for an entire neighborhood. True definition of slumlords. They should not be allowed to operate as a business. Update: clearly they do not understand that tenancy is mutually exclusive from being a responsible neighbor. Review not only stands, but is emboldened by their lack of care. It should be noted that the smoke alarm item has been raised to them multiple times prior to writing this review with zero response to those communications prior to a public comment.

Experiencia fantástica: Renting from MKC has been an absolute dream. After years of bad landlords and a horrible experience in the Quarter, I found MKC through a different apartment listing last fall. I met with Vi Hoisington and let her know our needs and budget. Even though the initial apartment we saw didn’t quite fit our space needs, she spent her entire day showing me their other properties. The very last house she showed me was the one we ended up renting. Vi listened so well to our needs and even accommodated an early move-in schedule when I broke my ankle. The few repairs on the home from a previous tenant were done quickly so we could move in on a tight schedule. Maintenance team is very prompt and the portal is a great communication tool for both parties. When our electricity went out, Vi bought us dinner since we couldn’t cook and it was back on the next day. I feel confident letting the maintenance guys in when I’m not home and they’re always respectful of our space. The neighbors and the neighborhood are amazing. Vi promised we’d love them and we’ve become fast friends. We planted the front yard today and it looks so good! Love the feeling of pride we can take in our rental home together. We’ve been here for 8 months now and I feel so safe and cared for here. I would recommend MKC a thousand times over to anyone that is looking for a responsible, communicative and transparent property management company.

Experiencia fantástica: I was SO fortunate to stumble across MKC properties during my search for a rental. I made an appointment to see an apartment, but it was not as spacious as I expected. The leasing manager Vi Hoisington, was so friendly and more than patient with me. She asked specific questions to find out exactly what I was looking for and then made time right then to show me another property, which was fabulous and perfect for me. The application process was very quick, and Vi followed up with me to make sure everything was going smoothly. I did hit a road bump as I was trying to turn on the electricity. I reached out to Vi and she contacted the company and then spent an HOUR on the phone with both the company and I to resolve the issue. I cannot say enough good things about her. The property itself is one of the nicer places that I have lived in. Everything is updated, works well and looks great. The company website is completely automated for maintenance requests and to pay your rent online. I would definitely recommend MKC properties and Vi specifically, as she took great care of me.

We loved the house, the people working at MKC were always incredibly responsive to our needs/requests and communicated very quickly and easily, and we felt very well taken care of. We would have loved to stay at the property longer but had to relocate for a job. This has by far been my favorite housing rental experience out of all the places I’ve lived and I would recommend MKC to anyone.

Living in Holy Angels is beautiful and peaceful but you’re also close to everything so it’s perfect. I asked for a closet in my apartment and they put one in the next day. The pool is a life changing amenity. Landlords are the cause of a lot stress in this city; being treated with compassion, respect and fairness literally made the rest of my life easier. Highly recommend living in any of their properties.

Experiencia fantástica: I currently live here & I absolutely love it. I worked with Vi to get my lease set up and she is fantastic. Honestly, I gave the place a chance because of how easy she was to talk to and work with, but after living here for awhile I’m so glad I did!! Between the quality of the apartment, the neighborhood, and the management it’s everything I have ever looked for. The complex is safe, quiet, and incredibly well kept. I’ve rented from slum lords before, but at MKC properties that is not the case. They do a proactive job of keeping the property nice and up to date. Every staff member I’ve come into contact with has been responsive and incredibly kind. When I first rented I was told that most people who rent here renew their lease for a few years and after living here for a few months, I understand why.

Experiencia fantástica: I lived in the Cadiz apartments right off of freret. Management was always very responsive and maintenance was super quick. They take parking very seriously, so you never have to worry about someone taking your assigned spot. They are super attentive to your needs to make sure you are happy in your home. Vi (the property manager) is awesome, so if you are having issues getting any information, Vi is always happy to help. Our lease mentioned the deposit taking about 4 weeks to be returned and that is exactly how long it took. We received it all back with no issues (and following move out procedures). I have no complaints about this apartment!

With each apartment comes a parking spot in a gated lot, and only tenants can access the building. A very safe place for students to live, and close to Tulane and Loyola Universities.

Vi Hoisington, the leasing manager, helped me find a house that wasn’t listed yet, when there were seemingly no proper units on the market. They even worked overtime to have the unit ready for my early move-in date. Throughout my lease, they promptly responded to any maintenance requests via their easy-to-use tenant portal. Even when my A/C unit went out, they accommodated me with a stay in a temporary rental while it was replaced. Their office is also very easy to contact, and the staff work hard to make sure you feel at home. MKC is an easy recommendation from me.

I was new to the city and wasn't quite sure where to live that was safe and affordable and she was able to give me two great options! We've been here two years and will stay as long as possible! We LOVE living right off St Charles. Our apartment is close to everything. We havent had to deal with bugs, flooding, anything of that matter, which for NOLA is amazing. Vi, the leasing manager, has made it such a pleasure. She is always soo helpful, responds quickly & just gets things done. Super reliable & really good at her job. Shes also just a lovely person in general. We know we're lucky to have found this place! Experiencia fantástica: Over the past year and a half I’ve been a tenant of MKC properties. The leasing manager Vi; who is what I call the backbone of this company, receives less credit than what she is due. Literally Vi is the face of the company. She worked with me and helped me find the most beautiful apt in a reasonable price range and for her time and service im grateful. Over my time here I have had 3 maintenance issues, a/c repair which took a day, a pest problem, which took a weekend to repair, and a current request im waiting for service. All in all i feel maintenance responds in a timely fashion. Lastly, management is understanding and helpful. Is there room for improvement? YES! but in my opinion one can say that about any company you may name.

The property was old, just like most properties in NO, but they responded to ALL our maintenance requests (and there were many b/c of the age of the property) and whatever the issue was it was always fixed in a timely manner. We usually dealt with Vi, the leasing manager, and let me tell you, she is awesome! She was always respectful, professional, patient, and understanding. She made sure whatever issue or concern that came up was handled even though it wasn't always her job to do so. We genuinely liked everyone we encountered at MKC, Michelle, Vi, and the maintenance crew were always good to us. They never encroached on our privacy, always responded to our calls or texts, and treated us with respect. When we had to move because MKC sold the property Vi went out of her way to show us other MKC properties so we'd have somewhere to go and made the whole situation as smooth as possible even though we didn't end up moving to one of their properties. We really enjoyed renting from them. Thanks again Vi, Michelle, and the whole MKC fam :)

Experiencia negativa: Multiple issues here. First they advertised my apartment as a two bedroom it's one bedroom. The other room has no window and therefore is not a bedroom. Should never have been listed as such. The maintenance is a joke. We have monthly a/c filter replacements and pest spray. I've gotten two air filter changes and zero pest sprays since I've lived here. The lock on my apt door never worked. When I moved in I put a maintenance request in only to be told they were aware of the faulty lock but that they were waiting for someone to complain. The complex came with a locked courtyard. The lock has been faulty since I moved in. Multiple requests for maintenance. One gave us a faulty lock that management told us was exactly how door knobs works- I ask you- do you have to physically push in and turn the locking piece to shut your doors? No. Next replacement had a keypad to get OUT and one on the other side to get in. So in case of fire- don't panic and forget the code- you'll burn. Next replacement had a knob and the same key pad. It broke and jammed within a month and a half. It locked my neighbor out and he had to knock on neighbors doors to get in. Then someone takes the lock off - it's been a week with nothing now. No repairs. No knob. Also- the oven has never gotten to temp - when I submitted a work order the guy came out and asked my neighbor how I could prove it didn't work because the maintenance man didn't bring a thermometer. He knew he was coming to check on a stove issue and he didn't bring a thermometer. The oven maintenance request was closed and never fixed. That was almost 10 months ago. And finally, I asked that they look into sealing my vents and insulation as the smells from neighboring apts leak into my apt and I am allergic ansd cannot sleep or breathe. I wake up constantly coughing and have itchy eyes. The result of this complaint was to tell my neighbors that they couldn't tell them WHO but that the person in the aprartment (enter description of my apartment in location to theirs) is going to call the cops on them. So now I'm a hated occupant. Never did I say anything about police. I said- FIX THE GATE AND FIX THE VENTS AND INSULATION. They took it upon themselves to cause strife and pass blame on a run down, rat infested, overpriced rental. I would never expect such unprofessional and absolute immature behavior from a company of this size. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. irresponsible.

Experiencia negativa: Rented with MKC Properties over the course of 3 years and happy to be away from the owner (not necessarily the property managers). We lived in our apartment for a full year with one of the downstairs businesses violating lease terms and being incredibly loud. The business owners were removed after going back and forth with ownership for an entire year, but with no recognition or apologies from the owner. In fact, he claimed we needed to stop complaining as the issue had been resolved (which was not the case considering we were woken up at 6AM to screaming and kicking almost daily for an entire year). The security gate was constantly broken and packages were constantly stolen, once again with very little recognition from the owner that the problem was being fixed. Trash pileups were routine. Even after thoroughly cleaning and preparing the apartment to nearly move-in ready, they managed to still take out money from our security deposit (likely due to owner's pressure, not the property managers) for apartment "touch ups". Rent was consistently raised year after year in a manner not consistent with housing rate increases around NOLA. I want to make this clear that this is a reflection on the owner of MKC and not the property managers. The numerous property managers were always great when we interacted with them, but they were quickly turned over by the owner leading to confusion for the tenants on who to contact.

Experiencia fantástica: I was Moving my daughter from Dallas to New Orleans for law school and did not know anything about the area because I’m from California. Vi Hoisington (Leasing manager) At the complex of Faubourg at Freret At MKC Properties was an absolute blessing. She always answered every Text question we had so fast on so many questions. She was very professional with a darling Personality that makes you realize what a hard working dedicated person she is to her job and to her tenants. We had an issue with the doors not shutting we’ll because the wooden doors swelled up from the Humid weather. She immediately had it taken care of that afternoon. I loved the apartment from the moment we pulled up and saw it & the area it was in. I loved that it was gated and felt very safe. It’s super spacious and Well taken care of by the maintenance man. We couldn’t be more happier !!!! I feel better leaving my daughter for college knowing that it’s safe & Vi is always there to help.

From the beginning Vi Hoisington, our leasing manager, has been incredibly professional, responsive and has made this the easiest move for me. She was willing to do a showing within an hour, consistently answers my texts and calls with questions, has met us after traditional working hours to give me my keys, and even brings packages up to my door when I have been out of town. Coming from out of state, Vi has made this the easiest and most positive move I could have ever experienced and I’m excited to be living at the Fauborg on Freret.

Experiencia fantástica: Just moved into my new apartment leased under MKC Properties and I LOVE MY PLACE!!! The ENTIRE COMPLEX has been gutted, remodeled and updated! My unit has BRAND NEW APPLIANCES and it's super quiet! I really lucked up and found one of New Orleans' hidden jems!!! As I am still decorating and getting furniture moved in, I am glad I signed a year lease. I'm closer to work at Children's Hospital, I'm in a quiet neighborhood with SUPER friendly neighbors and it's somewhere my mom can sleep easy at night. My leasing agent, Miss Hoisington was very polite, helpful and just accommodating with my work and pay schedule! I've PRAYED for a place like this for the past year and God has ANSWERED!!

Experiencia fantástica: I just moved in to a place, and I love it. Vi showed me different apartments and houses by videochat so I was able to find a house even in the times of COVID. They have been incredibly responsive to every comment and question that I've had, and the house is beautiful!

Experiencia fantástica: I moved into a gorgeous, brand new renovation last week a block off of canal and six blocks from city park. Vi Hoisington is one of the managers, and she is an absolute treasure! I even received a “welcome” gift bag, which I’ve never gotten from any other property I’ve rented from. They have been extremely communicative, helpful, polite, and give quick responses. From what I understand, MKC just came under new management, and I have no doubt she and her team will turn things around quickly and compensate for past issues!

Experiencia negativa: The owner needs to value his properties more. We pay a good amount for rent every month. When or if I have a maintenance problem it should be addressed immediately not 2 weeks or a month later. I read the reviews before I decided to go with MKC I should've listened.

Experiencia negativa: Shady, it was listed for $800 in the ad and when we got there they said no it was $875 & the ad magically disappeared! It was cute inside but ghetto outside! Plus they are liars, be careful, do your research first !

My move out experience, with the new staff, especially Dominick, was so smooth. He went above and beyond to make sure things were as easy as possible for me. I definitely recommend MKC properties!

Experiencia fantástica: I moved to Fauberg on Freret a month ago and had several issues upon move-in (deadbolt wouldn't lock on back door, no mailbox key, gated parking lot remote broken). As soon as I brought it to their attention, they were fixed within the hour. Very attentive. Putting in work orders is their preferred maintenance remedy, but I find that following up with them so they put a name to a voice/face works best. I have cultivated great personal relationships with Mary, Dominic, and Arnold. They are great people and I will definitely be renting here for the next several years while I am in law school. I think it is important to note that no one makes time to write good reviews (I have lived in 3 different apartments in the last 4 years and have never reviewed any of them). I love my apartment and have nothing but great things to say about the building and the management. Update 9/10: My back door handle literally pulled right off last night. It made me feel uneasy and unsafe. I put in a work order and was contacted IMMEDIATELY! At 8 a.m. sharp, MKC had a maintenance guy out there to fix it. Unbelievable management. I cannot stress enough how great these people are. Grateful to have them.

Experiencia negativa: My air conditioner stopped working 2 days ago and the landlord has not responded with a date or time for anyone to even look at it, let alone fix it. It’s May in New Orleans with 96 degree heat. Obviously, VERY uncomfortable! Please consider this before renting from this landlord.

Experiencia negativa: Dishonest, unprofessional and money hungry. Rent went up before the year lease was even up/ did not respond to issues unless directly affected their money (ie a leaky faucet)/ stole half of my deposit by upcharging for minor issues despite the good condition of the place (ie charged 100 dollars for cleaning the ceiling fans)/ Arnold kirschman did not respond to emails until I had sent multiples and would not discuss in person the charges even though I saw him in the office multiple times. He would leave as soon as I arrived. Staff gives you the run around. Rent at your own risk. Try Windfeel Properties instead; Ashley has been great, makes an effort to fix any issues, quick responses has shown great care about the tenants and the property!

Do NOT lease from this company, they’re thieves, they charge you an arm an a leg for all but 400 sq. foot apartments, in which there is ONE maintenance guy that take care of how ever many properties, they take weeks to respond to your maintenance request, Faye Shelby does NOT return calls, she’s manipulative, she will tell you anything to get you in the apartment, they gave a tenant a lease copy to provide with Cox cable to get services at my apartment, and my services was disconnected so somewhere the ball was dropped, an all around negative living experience! If I knew what I know NOW I would not have moved if, but of course....

Experiencia negativa: Whatever you do, avoid renting from this company at all costs. This company is very shady, and they do not care about their tenants whatsoever. I went without a working toilet and running water for over a week, and was still charged full rent and water. They recently returned my deposit, but only returned $760 of the $1200 and deducted $35 for things like "dust on ceiling fan blades" and deducted $150 for things that were damaged before I was a tenant. My rent was $1275 a month for a tiny apartment. These people are absolutely price gougers, and quite frankly criminals. Their company has an extremely high turnover with their employees, which is evident when you call them, because it is always a different person on the phone. That is, if you can actually get someone on the phone! Most of the time they will ignore your phone calls and never call you back. I was attacked by another tenant's Pitbull (which is a restricted breed) and management did nothing about it despite me reporting it to them and animal control. The owners of the Pitbull hid the dog at a friend's house for a few days and about a week later, the dog was back. These neighbors were also drug addicts and had the police called on them multiple times for disturbing the other tenants in the complex, and MKC did absolutely nothing to address their partying and carrying on. I could not wait to leave that apartment! When you put in a maintenance request, on average it takes them 1 month or longer to respond. They only have 1 maintenance man who services all of their properties. He is very nice, but unfortunately the man is overwhelmed because it is just him. We had an emergency plumbing situation where sewerage was backing up into our bathroom, and it took MKC 1 week and multiple threatening phone calls from me before they sent a plumber out to fix the issue. A neighbor had clogged up our plumbing system by flushing baby wipes. All that was done by MKC was to send out an email telling people not to flush baby wipes. Most of the time, there is not a staff member present at the office when you go. Even if you go during regular office hours, they will simply hide in the back and wait until you go away, or they are gone because they left early. Overall, I would say my experience with this company was overwhelmingly negative and I would strongly caution anyone from renting from this company. Their rent is outrageously overpriced, and they are totally unresponsive to maintenance requests. They allow drug addicts with Pitbulls to terrorize and attack the other tenants. The only thing they care about is taking your money from you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

I figured I’d lay low and not have any problems but I was wrong. Terrible communication. Different story depending on which employee you talk to. Don’t do it.

Experiencia negativa: About as unprofessional as it gets. My girlfriend and I set up at viewing at one of their properties with a realtor named Shelby, and she never showed up. Called her multiple times with no response. Couldn’t leave an angry voicemail because her inbox was full. Would give zero stars if I could.

AC didn't work for months. Bugs, because no one would come to spray. We finally just left. Now I'm fighting tooth and nail to get security deposit back. DO NOT RENT from MKC!!!!

Experiencia negativa: As a tenant, your needs will almost certainly not be meet. The maintenance team is all but non existent. There was a leak in my ceiling with then caused the walls to mold, decay, and soften. I've filled 5 work orders in 3 months. Sent video, pictures, and have been to the office in person twice and I'm still waiting. They had workers come and paint my apartment and leave ALL their materials in front my door afterwards and have not been back to get them (paint cans, brushes, wood, tables, trash, etc.). RENTERS BEWARE
