Experiencia negativa: It’s been two years since we bought our home, and over time, we’ve uncovered a number of issues that should have been flagged during the buying process. Some of that is on me. I put too much trust in Jackie and her team. We paid full asking price and chose to work with her as a dual agent, which I now regret. It was clear throughout the process that she prioritized the seller’s interests over ours. Looking back, Jackie gave the seller a discount on her commission, and the home never even hit the market—we bought it directly. Yet despite this streamlined sale, the house was filthy when we moved in. We had to pay nearly $600 to have it professionally cleaned on a Sunday just to make it livable. Jackie didn’t follow up once after the deal was done—not even a courtesy call. We also faced significant issues that a more attentive buyer’s agent might have helped avoid. For example, we were encouraged to buy a wine cooler instead of an ice maker due to space limitations—only to discover the space didn’t actually fit anything else. We ended up installing an ice maker anyway, only to find that the drainage pipe had been cut and led nowhere. This caused a major leak in the basement that could’ve led to electrical damage or worse. It was clear the previous owners knew about this, but it was never disclosed. This happened about a month after moving in. Throughout the house, there’s been a mix of well-disguised, subpar workmanship—things we might have spotted or negotiated if we had an agent fully in our corner. Jackie also failed to inform us that we could have charged the sellers rent while they remained in the house after closing. That oversight turned into a headache and a missed financial opportunity. That’s said, it’s on me. Bottom line: I would not recommend Jackie as a dual agent. If I had hired my own dedicated buyer’s agent, I believe the experience—and the outcome—would have been far better.
