Experiencia negativa: My elderly grandparents were overcharged when the house we normally rent switched to a different reality. They’re out $400 because no one could take responsibility and kept pointing the finger at each other. Very unprofessional. And disappointing.

Experiencia negativa: I made a reservation in July 2025 with this firm for a condo rental October 17-19, 2025. I requested a specific unit and was told it was available. I paid the deposit, and then paid the total. I received confirmation from C-21 Coastland on 9/17/25 of the total payment for the unit I reserved. I arrived at the office for checkin on 10/17/2025; the office closed early that day so no one was around to check in but the envelope was left in the mailbox for me. I drove to the unit and discovered that the reservation had been changed to a different condo in a completely different development. When I looked back at my emails, I found an email dated 9/10/25 with a confirmation for rental on that unit. It was a routine email but there was nothing that referred to a change in the reserved unit! The unit that was substituted was filthy! I called the office (they were closed) and left multiple messages. I also emailed photos of the unit to the office including pictures of the dog hair in the refrigerator and freezer, the hair and filth under the sofa cushions, the dirty mattress covers, etc. A representative from the company called me back and told me that they had emailed me the change, and called me multiple times to let me know that they were putting me in a different unit. Not true. They simply changed the address on that routine email and never brought up the fact that they did it. I asked them to forward me the email that stated that they had change it; they've never sent it. We were moved to another unit in the first complex, but put on the third floor in a building with no elevator (our original reservation was for first floor due to mobility issues). We were told to take our bag of linens with us to the new location, but there were not enough linens for all the beds so one adult and 3 children had to share a bed. I gave up trying to get things changed while we were there, but emailed the office after I received a request for a review. Debbie from Coastland is still insisting that they emailed me special notice of the unit change even though I never received it, nor did I receive any calls or voicemails from Coastland to let me know. The one email she says she sent as proof still states the address as the original unit I reserved. Based on the condition of the rentals and the denial of responsibility, I will never rent from this company again.

Experiencia positiva: We have stayed at 104 Channel Drive, Emerald Isle, for 2 years now. The best part about this house is the location to the beach, so easy! and the pool, which is large and so great for our family. This house is spacious and well laid out. The A/C works great, as do all of the appliances. The house is in need of some serious TLC, however. I am not clear who is responsible for the upkeep, but we found the same things broken this year as last. Broken kitchen drawer, broken blind hanging down in one of the bedroom windows. One of the doors leading from a bedroom to the deck has been kicked in. There's a broken deck chair that is without a leg that was on the deck LAST YEAR and is still there. This year there were several large blow-up floats and other stuff around the pool from the previous renters that no one bothered to clean up. When we were leaving, I was checking to make sure we had gotten all of our things and noticed the pool guy had left the hose running full blast in the yard. The side yard was flooded by the time I saw it and turned it off. The beds downstairs are so uncomfortable, uneven and are noticeably antique, my grandmother's springs did not squeak as loud as these nor bounce like a trampoline. There is a serious odor of mildew downstairs where all the bedrooms are. Even the inside of the furniture has an odor. These are all things that could easily be taken care of if someone just took the time. Such a lovely street, great area, The Point is so special, great neighborhood, etc., but this rental just really needs some TLC. I have rented about 7 times in 2025, some international, and this is not the norm (or maybe all Emerald Isle rentals are like this, but I'm thinking not). Wouldn't you want your guests to have the best experience ever for their thousands of dollars that are paid for a week of family vacation? I will say the inside itself was very clean and the pool as well was very clean. Last year the pool was not clean and Emerald Isle Realty came out right away and cleaned it. I appreciated the quick service.

Experiencia negativa: We have vacationed in Emerald Isle for over 10 years. We have rented several homes for the week with rental agencies in the area. This is the first negative review I have written. We rented a large beautiful home on the sound. The house was beautiful, but was in need of a deep cleaning. We rented the busiest week of summer and the home looked like it had not been thoroughly cleaned for months. It was clean enough, but for the price we paid, and the type of home, it was lacking in cleanliness. There was mold on air vents, the shower heads were clogged with limescale, garbage disposal did not work, the yard was in desperate need of trimming of bushes, trees, etc. There were so many spider webs and fire ant hills in the yard and deck area that it was hard to let the kids enjoy being outside. The outside chairs were broken and falling apart. The most frustrating issue was that the dryer in the unit stopped working on a Tuesday evening. I called first thing Wednesday morning to report the issue. I was told it was not emergent (understandable) and most likely would not be fixed that same day. Unfortunately, it was never fixed during our stay. We left on Saturday morning. This was a major inconvenience for a large group. There were no extra towels in the home, the laundry mat is 30 minutes away, so we were reusing towels, or hanging them on the line outside. I had to reach out to the maintenance office on Friday to check the status of a repair and was told it would not be looked at until Monday morning. It was an overall disappointing situation and I do not feel confident in being a return client or recommending Century 21 for vacation rentals.

Experiencia fantástica: We had a wonderful vacation through Century 21 Coastland Realty. We had a schedule conflict on our part and had to reschedule our trip. Century 21 Coastal Realty graciously worked with us to find a time that worked with our plans and got the reservation changed. I also had several concerns about the rental due to a previous bad experience with another company. They were patient with me in answering my questions and assuring that there would be no issues. We had a wonderful trip and look forward to booking another stay with Century 21 Coastal Realty again.

The young lady at the desk at our check-in was amazing as well and I'm sorry I cannot remember her name. This office is very friendly and professional. We stayed at Lucky Pelican and it was absolutely gorgeous. It was perfect for us. It was decorated beautifully and I loved that it was a short walk to the beach. It was very clean and well taken care of. Thank you so much for the recommendation Martha and we WILL be back. It was a very relaxing, amazing week.

Experiencia fantástica: I loved every part of my stay. We stayed at Pebble Beach H211 while celebrating my daughter’s graduation. From checkin to checkout Century 21 was very nice and pleasant. I love the way the owner has the place organized and decorated. Will stay again if ever in the area.

Experiencia positiva: We rented a Vacation Home through VRBO which happened to be through here. The employees are very nice and willing to make your stay enjoyable. I do believe that they need to look at changing their cleaning company/standards for the homes they have for Rent. Working in the Medical Field and them just spraying the comforters with Lysol was not acceptable. I feel like all linings should be dry-cleaned before the next guests arrive. Again, the employees I dealt with were super helpful and understanding. Would consider Renting again for a vacation home but would have to see that they have changed their cleaning standards for the better.

Experiencia negativa: Our family loves Emerald Isle, but we will NEVER rent from Coastland again! We stayed at Rooms With A View East in July 2020. The location was perfect and the pool was great. When we checked in, the house was filthy - dirty towels laying on a bed, hair everywhere on dressers, crumbs on the kitchen table, I could go on. When we called after check-In, no one answered. When we went to the office during office hours, it was locked up tight. There is no way a cleaning company touched that place in between rentals. But the biggest problem was COCKROACHES! Which, Coastland quickly dismissed as Palmetto bugs (PSA: a palmetto bug is a cockroach!!). They did finally tell us they would send an exterminator in the next 2 days - but no one ever showed up. We called more and emailed photos to management. They offered to give us $100. They basically told us that every week, 20 or 30 people are unsatisfied with the accommodations and that’s just part of the business. I don’t feel that it is unreasonable to want to spend the week without bugs in your bedroom! We will make sure our friends and family ONLY rent from Emerald Isle Realty! Coastland has Terrible customer service and not a care in the world for their tenants’ concerns.

Experiencia fantástica: CENTURY 21 Coastland Realty is my favorite real estate company in Emerald Isle. Over the last 16 years we have used others only to come back to Century 21. I previously had required an annual rental and Century 21 found the perfect property. So when I retired recently and wanted to live on Emerald Isle, naturally I contacted Steve Conklin who had found me a property before. He and Martha were fantastic. I believe in business it is important to have and maintain relationships. Century 21 is very professional, friendly, trustworthy, knowledgeable and timely. Other local realtors just seem like a big business where they just want your money. Were it not for purchasing a home in New Bern near family, I would still be a client. I look forward to future vacation rentals now that I no longer live on the island. Thank you Century 21 Team!!!

Experiencia negativa: Cried upon arrival and misled...1301 Ocean Drive, Emerald Isle. I've never been so disappointed by a beach rental in my life. We're a military family and my husband just returned from a deployment. This was our fun beach vacation and we had people coming to visit us. I was completely embarrassed by the property. The property was SOLD during our stay and we were inconvenienced on not one, but two occasions. Absolutely inexcusable. The listing agent should've informed Vrbo and we should've been given an option to stay elsewhere. They 'the real estate rental company' told me upon check-in there was a showing at the property on the Tuesday. I'm an understanding person and was willing to accommodate. When they called to confirm, they said it was a 'final inspection' and would take 30 minutes. They were there more than 2 hours. Would you allow this on your vacation? If I was told that upon arrival, I would've understood more what was going on and tried to change this stay at that time. I was misled and not given proper notice of the situation. On Thursday, the new owner wanted cable installed and inconvenienced us again. Rude and completely unacceptable. The installation technician interrupted our lunch and said he'd be 10 minutes. He was more than an hour. Again, would you like this on your vacation? The listing of this property was quite inaccurate for what it really was, there were cockroaches, the house was dirty, outdated and unwelcoming. They provided linens and I had to put them on myself, that's one thing, but the bedspreads were not washed from prior stays, were stained and foul. I wanted to gag. Light bulbs were out, the mattresses were uncomfortable, and the couch had the most disgusting slip covers I've ever seen. I didn't sit on the couch the entirety of my stay. We left a day early we were so disgusted by the entire situation. I feel completely robbed of a nice stay at a waterfront property. The view and the beach didn't even make up for this horrendous show. I will not use use this company in the future, nor will I recommend them to any my friends. The stay was a negative and I would not give a single star if I was given the option.

Experiencia negativa: Stayed at Pebble Beach D308. It had BED BUGS! We were told to leave which we wanted to do but they refused to find us another place to stay. We were told by the receptionist they could put us in another unit but the manager said there was nothing available & we would have to leave. When we got home we spent 2 days cleaning our stuff. They would only reimburse us half of our money. Our vacation was ruined.

Experiencia negativa: This company is the worst. The property managers are lazy and lie to you. I've been a tenant for several months now and wish I could break my lease because they are just that bad. Stay away from Coastland at all costs!!

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience renting with Century 21 Coastland Realty. Between the nails sticking up from the floor, outlet covers missing or broken, the underwear and women’s hygeine stickers found, the home practically falling apart, to the false advertisement of the property rented. The manager Debbie was so dismissive and the owner Vann Parker not only price shamed me for a $1600 rental, but also couldn’t take accountability for the rental conditions and the horrible experience, instead he blamed me for staying in that property. Do not rent with them, there are other wonderful rental company’s on Emerald Isle that will take care of their customers!!

They worked with us from the beginning and assured us the room that we wanted. We were thinking that the Pebble Beach condos would be nice but our expectations were well exceeded. This was by far the nicest and most comfortable place we have ever stayed and we have stayed in upper scale places. It really felt like our home away from home. The convenience of the amenities and location of the beach was excellent. We weren't bothered by anyone. It was very quiet and peaceful. The realty company made sure we had everything we needed which was a lovely surprise. Everyone was so friendly and nice. They took time to answer questions from the time we booked until after we left, making sure we were happy and thanking us. We look forward to working with Century 21 Coastland Realty on arranging future vacations and perhaps making a permanent purchase one day.

Experiencia fantástica: We came down to Emerald Isle for a family reunion and rented several places from Coastland Realty. We called to several companies before choosing them, as we found they were the most helpful and friendly on the phone. The agents actually knew the properties personally and were in Emerald Isle. Their prices were the most reasonable we heard from the 3 other companies we called. We arrived after hours and owed a balance and they let us pick up the keys anyway and drop out check in the drop box. Unheard of these days... We did have an air conditioner problem at one of the places, but it was fixed in a timely manner. We will definitely be using this company again if we get a chance to come back to Emerald Isle.

They treat you as family and that's what i enjoyed most I didn't just go to a house and punch in a code to get in. I went to there office picked up my key pack and was greeted by a very friendly group of people. If you are looking for a company to book through i highly recommend that you go through them. Experiencia negativa: We rented a duplex through this realty. The owner of the duplex recommended going through them instead of VRBO. From the get go, they were slow to respond to emails (days). I had questions about the rental insurance (like what does it cover?) and they didn't know the answers to that question or any others. How can you automatically add on rental insurance and not know a thing about it? It didn't end there either. When we arrived at the home, it was disgusting. Not clean at all. I emailed them (since they are responsible to contracting a cleaning company) and copied the owner about it. The owner was the only one that called immediately the next morning. I never heard a word from Century 21. The owner ended up personally coming to the home to fix a few things and he even cleaned some. He must have called Century 21 himself and had them send a cleaning company back over who spent less than 30 minutes cleaning things that didn't need cleaned. As a side note, I owned a housecleaning company years ago and how they cleaned this home is completely unacceptable. Considering the thick dust on the blinds and décor, streaks on the mirrors and tv, bathing suit panty liner stuck on bedroom wall, and trash behind the dresser, I am not sure what exactly they are getting paid to do. I never received any apology from Century 21 regarding this or ever got a reply back to my email. If you don't have to rent from this company, DON'T!

Experiencia negativa: Don't rent over the phone. Do it in person so you: A) Know what the actual policies of the place are rather than what a sales agent will say to you to book a unit. B) Don't get hung up on when you are angry because an agent included a service that goes against said policies, and now they won't follow through. I do not, DO NOT recommend renting a beach condo with these folks. Their agent information is conflicted, and even their online site information conflicts what's on your rental agreement. If you are going to rent through them, do it in person.
