Fantastic experience: We just sold our house in Bothell with Matt Stark for a price in our target range with only 13 days on the market. This success is solely attributable to the great work that Matt and his team did for us. We initially chose Matt after interviewing three listing agents recommend by HomeLight. Matt was by far the most prepared for our meeting of the three. He had clearly done his homework, arriving with the most relevant comps, local market analysis, a recommended listing price range with net proceeds calculated, and an 'actionable' marketing plan. Matt provided recommendations for great contractors, and as a result, in 5 weeks, I was able to complete a top-to-bottom remodel of my new residence all while pre-inspecting and preparing my previous residence to go on the market 1 week after the move. He showed great market insight and professional integrity discouraging me from over investing in prepping my old residence for sale. We listed on a Wednesday, and in large part to his pricing advice, staging and photography partners, and marketing strategies -- and market conditions, of course -- we had ~8 showings on both Thursday and Friday, crowded weekend open houses, an offer Saturday that caused us to move the Review Date from Tues to the next day, and finally 4 offers to choose between the next day, two of which were clean cash offers tens of thousands higher than I was hoping for. Negative experience: I shouldn’t have expected any more from Matt since he was the listing agent and represented the seller but one of the first things he told me was this was the smallest listing he’s had in a long time but he would act as my agent to purchase the property. He was not available to show me the property but assured me it was fine to walk the property on my own all that I wanted. Matt agreed to print and send me copies of all documents that I had e-signed but had no means of printing out myself after my offer was made and Ernest money provided. None were ever provided. Matt was in constant contact with me with updates but never had any knowledge of the property that he had listed. I’ve never met Matt personally or shook his hand but I’m the proud owner of 1.65 acres in my hometown thanks to Chicago Title’s escrow agents in Everett. I guess this is the new norm for real estate transactions, online with no personal interaction. Matt, I’m not impressed. I’m disappointed that you will even make a dime off of this sale. I think you’re greedy, lazy, and unmotivated, but that’s just one mans opinion. I’m sure this review won’t last long enough for anyone to see, but I think you, Matt Stark, get the message. Steve G.
