Negative experience: After speaking with Matthew briefly, I could sense that he had no interest in helping me to find what I wanted in a home. Time and time again, he steered me to properties that benefitted him and his perceived commissions. It became laughable as we tested how he would react to our inquiries. Each time was more self-serving than the next. He didn’t have a chance to do anything unethical or illegal, but I had the distinct impression that he would cross lines if unchecked. Stay away. Some people aren’t cut out for the service industry.

Negative experience: i’d give zero stars if i could. i asked to not be communicated with and the communication persists.

Negative experience: Bottom line: He will neglect to do his job, neglect his obligation to act in your best interest (do his fiduciary duty), sneak in a contract without telling you, and then gaslight and attempt to manipulate you if you take issue with it. Also, he'll probably hold you hostage in a contract that he never explained and act very passive aggressive about it and get less and less responsive if you're not doing what you want him to or giving him money. Overall, at best, Matt is okay to make conversation with and at worst is quite possibly one of the worst realtors to ever do business with. If you're thinking about going with him, don't waste your time. After working with him for a little while, there were several things that made us feel the need to seek other avenues - we're glad we did. Not once did he ask us what we wanted in a property nor did he find listings for us. He was good at checking in with us and was available to schedule showings, however he didn't make effort to find properties. He was good at answering questions, however didn't offer additional information unless asked. We were very open about being first-time homebuyers, and we don't feel that he did his fiduciary duty to fully explain the process or the legal documents. We found all of the properties ourselves - it made us feel the the pressure to find places. We found a property on a different website and went with a different realtor who we feel better fits our needs because they were actively searching for properties that fit the criteria that they had asked us about. In other words, they were doing their job. So in this case, he didn't do the job. He never once sent us a listing he personally found. (He claimed that automatically generated listings from a website were him personally sending us recommendations.) He simply wasn't looking and never had our best interests in mind. He was only looking to make a quick buck - focused on the money without keeping in mind that he's supposed to be working for it. Because of this, we lost the dream home that we wanted to buy. He pressured us to sign a document without doing due dilligence and fully disclosing what it meant. His methods for getting us to sign a contract by sneaking it into the end of a batch of paperwork without accurately answering questions regarding some of the clauses is shady at best. He didn't even do the bare minimum to reach real estate agent standards and shouldn't be licensed to be in the field of real estate. When we tried speaking with him about our concerns he completely talked around the issues, all while being manipulative and condescending. If I could rate 0 or a negative number, I would because working with Matt only put us at a disadvantage and put a bad taste in our mouths of what should have been an exciting and beautiful experience of purchasing our first home.

Fantastic experience: Matt’s a true professional. He helped us navigate through multiple offers when selling our home. Pro tip, use his brother Phil for photography if you can.

Fantastic experience: Matthew Salter and his team were so helpful throughout the whole process. He answered all of my questions clearly and in a timely manner. He made sure to work around my and my husband's complicated work schedules and went above and beyond to be there whenever we needed him. He truly made buying a house for the first time a less stressful experience, and stepped in give suggestions when needed as well as prevented from getting scammed. And at the end of it all, Matthew and his team got us an amazing rate and a great townhouse for our budget. I would highly recommend working with such a good hearted company.

Negative experience: Matt is great to work with and easy to talk to. He is responsive and gives good vibes. From a realtor standpoint he leaves much to be desired. He doesn't work in the best interests of his clients and strives to close the deal first and foremost. His familiarity of the process of buying a home is also questionable so plan on doing your homework, double checking everything, and make sure you have other realtors you can lean on and ask questions.
