Negative experience: It is so frustrating trying to get ahold of anyone at this company for literally anything. Maintenance has been so friendly and helpful, but the management staff needs to be fired immediately. I have lived at my property for 6 years and anytime I have needed anything - I mean literally anything - it is like pulling teeth. I think I would rather pull my teeth. It is SO painful to have to send so many texts and emails and make so many calls. Who has that kind of time??? I pray something changes because I don't know how much longer I can live like this. I mean really. It's that bad. I guess if you like having problems and shouting into the void.... They'll be great for you.

Fantastic experience: I have been a tenant at Holt Hall in Portland since moving to Maine on January 5, 2001. The length of time I have lived at Holt Hall speaks for itself. I love living here as the building is kept up nicely by their terrific Maintenance staff. The Property Manager, Kathi Nickerson, pays attention to the small details that make the big difference. I am particular about my unit and my many requests to Kathi to update particular items by Dirigo staff or on my own, have been granted. Recently, I had a Hip Replacement & wanted a Stall Shower installed (at my cost) to replace the existing Tub/Shower Combo. Kathi, together with one of their affiliate's, DMC Painting & Remodeling, orchestrated the job to my specifications and created an absolutely perfect Stall Shower. The DMC Group handled every detail of the project and I am totaly thrilled with every aspect of their work. I highly recommend Holt Hall to anyone looking for an apartment in the Portland area although their vacancy rate is very low.

Negative experience: Poor communication with tenants until they want your money

Negative experience: Absolutely the most negligent property management company I’ve ever encountered. I was on a waitlist for housing for two and a half years. Dirigo no longer represents the complexes I applied for. Never told me and still can’t tell me who to contact. I consider Dirigo as the least trusted and reliable property management company in the state of Maine. I was a case manager for Maine Behavioral Health, Learning Works and other organizations for 30 years and never have I encountered such neglect and disregard for people who are in need of housing

Fantastic experience: Dirigo is the property management concern for Bayview Court Apartments where I am a long term resident. During their tenure I have not discerned any deficiency in their duties. There has always been timely maintenance either accomplished by them utilizing in house resources or by calling in outside companies who have all been extremely competent and efficient. It is the best run building I have lived in which also features an online rent paying system that is quick and easy to use . Their representatives are friendly and very responsive. Dirigo is an outsized reason I have remained long term.

Negative experience: Unprofessional. The management team lacks the ability to communicate effectively. The only time they respond to emails is when it benefits them. My building was sold and the new owner hired this company, my rent was promptly increased by $560 and they attempted to give me a 42 day notice when legally a 75 day notice is required for anything over 10% increase. I have requested a lease seven different times over the last month and no one from this company has responded to an email or returned a phone call. They have entered my apartment without any notice and leave maintenance requests half finished with no follow up. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: They will scam you out of your security deposit, so I don't recommend renting with this company if you need that money back. The maintenance workers are part of the company, so they create their own services to get away with charging you extra (they charged us $700 for a few spots that needed paint). Rent at your own risk (and make sure to take lots of pictures before you move in).

Fantastic experience: I have used DMC for about two years now. DMC is the most professional, thoughtful, and reasonably priced property management company I have ever dealt with. Highly recommend using them. Expect calls and emails to be returned promptly, and for properties to be appropriately maintained. Alisha and Crystal are a pleasure to work with.

Negative experience: Worst management company I’ve ever worked with.

Negative experience: Don’t expect to get your security deposit back upon moving out. They use their own maintenance company to overcharge themselves for minor repairs and to transfer all fees on tenants. Also various amenities (washers, dryers, indoor exercise equipment) are hardly ever fixed unless there is an opportunity to charge additional fees on tenants (more expensive washers & dryers).

Negative experience: It is near impossible to get an email response from Dirigo Management Company, formerly R&E Associates. For the amount of money we pay a month to have them oversee our property, the service is disappointing.

Negative experience: EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NEGLIGENT!!! CAUTION! BEWARE!! Dirigo Management is a joke of a company, DO NOT RECOMMEND to anyone!! If you use this company Your SECURITY and well being IS NOT their priority or even their concern! I along with several other clients have dealt with quite a few issues stemming from their negligence and lack of communication as well as motivation to help in any way. Beyond there obvious lack of care for there clients, Problem solving is not there strong suit. There employees are very shady and highly motivated to do everything but there job. when brought to the company’s attention they refuse to hold there employees accountable. I personally reached out to the president of this company Mr BOB KEEGAN and I explained the issues I was having with his employee PAULA BEYER, after our conversation he assured me he would get to the bottom of the issues. I left a half dozen voicemails after that conversation before he returned my call. That conversation summed up to “my relationship with my employees is more important then my relationship with my clients” I HIGHLY recommend reaching out to current “Clients” of this company before deciding to use them.

Negative experience: Disappointed I can’t shop at the blazin ace today because of the mess they refuse to clean up in their property! Absolutely disgusting they can’t even do their job properly or professionally!

Fantastic experience: I have had the pleasure of renting through Dirigo for the last year+. I have dealt with both Alisha and Crystal, and I couldn't speak more highly of them. They are both extremely communicative, professional, and respectful!

Fantastic experience: I lived at a DMC apartment for nearly two years (Turner Street). I loved my apartment. It was in a great location, right near Casco Bay. The apartment was beautiful and clean. Anytime I had a minor issue that needed to be fixed, Alisha was on it, immediately. I really appreciated the help provided by Alisha and Crystal. I recommend DRM.

Negative experience: They just dumped our condo association due to "insufficient staffing". Our contact was fairly good to work with, but since she's leaving they have given us their 60 day notice for terminating our account.

Fantastic experience: I reached out to Dirigo when I started renting my condo. Crystal and Alisha handle the residential rentals, and they are both AMAZING. From being very informative during my first call, to answering my endless follow-up questions, to doing a walk-through to tell me everything that needed to be done for Code, to showing the place and finding GREAT tenants, they hit it out of the park every step of the way. I would highly recommend Crystal, Alisha, and the whole team at Dirigo!!!

Fantastic experience: I helped move my brother in law into Bayview Ct. From my first encounter with Crystal, I knew we were in good hands. She did everything possible to make the process as seamless as possible. Even moving up the 'move-in' date which we desperately needed. The apartment itself was clean and fresh and bright. Again Crystal immediately addressed minor concerns. The building is secure, neat and orderly. On move-in day we were stunned at how lovely and welcoming the tenants were as they were coming and going. One couple helped us load the elevator. Such a great vibe. The location is perfect as my brother in law does not drive and sits on the bus line. Very convenient. With the efficient and respectful manner that Crystal runs the show, I would imagine Dirigo's other properties are similar. Refreshing!

Fantastic experience: I own two condos at the Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach. I haven't had a lot of contact with others at Dirigo, but our building manager Paula Beyer constantly goes above and beyond her expected duties. I always know if I email her with an issue I'll hear back rapidly.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I spent a year and a half in the sweet embrace of the Dirigo Management Company team at Holt Hall in Portland, Maine. Besides providing a stunning apartment with tasteful paint and appliance choices at a very fair price, they were always attentive to our needs and quick to respond about any issues we had in the apartment. I knew who I needed to be in touch with and could rest easy knowing that the team would tackle any problem as soon as possible ample amounts of communication and consideration to our personal space and time. And that was all through a pandemic! We definitely recommend working with this group based off of our experience. We literally have no complaints. Thanks to Kathi and everyone over at Dirigo! Fantastic experience: I recently decided to move from Massachusetts to Maine and Alisha from Dirigo Management was extremely helpful from the apartment viewing to the lease signing process. I had to drive 2 hours to view the apartment and Alisha was there on time, friendly, informative and ready to answer any questions that I had. I submitted my application for the apartment after the initial viewing and I got a confirmation the following day. I was hesitant to move during an on going pandemic too but after this positive experience working with Alisha and Dirigo, I can say with a great deal of confidence to anyone that is also considered a move to go for it!

With the current Covid-19 lockdown, the property manager Kathi in particular has gone above and beyond in looking after the safety and well-being of our parent. We are ever so grateful for the human kindness of this establishment and would recommend it to others.

Fantastic experience: We have been at our Saco duplex that Dirigo manages since it was built 15 years ago. In all those years when we have had issues they have been quickly addressed and they have communicated with us on the progress being made during these problems. Positive experience: I've been a residential tenant of a property managed by Dirigo Management Company for over 3 years. The staff has been very helpful and attentive. Any maintenance issues that I've had were addressed promptly and courteously. If my rental requirements change I will ask Dirigo if they have properties that will meet my needs and expectations.

Fantastic experience: After having a not so great experience with another local Property Management Company I continued my search for a rental that met all of my needs in Portland and I found a few beautiful listings on Zillow, posted by Dirigo Management Company that peaked my interest. I sent an email to inquire about the rental further and almost immediately my email inquiries were followed up by a phone call from Crystal, the rental agent. In a matter of minutes we had scheduled a time to meet the following day so she could show me a couple of different units downtown. She was running a few moments late but was prompt in giving me a call well beforehand to let me know she would be a bit late (she was only 2 minutes late). Upon arrival the agent was kind, respectful and very professional. This experience was by far above and beyond any I've had in the past, she provided more than amply information that she had available pertaining to utilities and such which was also very helpful. Although I didn't decide to proceed with either of the rentals I saw *for one reason or another* I will most definitely be keeping an eye on their website for additional availability in the near future and will be sure to tell all of my friends!!!!

Fantastic experience: Over the years my husband and I have leased three properties through Dirigo Management Company, and they’ve consistently provided first-rate property management services for our rentals. Managers and staff are just great—very friendly and helpful. Whenever you have an issue, response times are extremely fast, and any concerns are dealt with competently. I really like that the company conducts regular equipment maintenance checks to keep your unit’s heating/cooling/hot water, fire alarm system and appliances in top working order. Company management also makes sure buildings are kept clean and the plowing and waste removal services arrive on schedule. Dirigo has a modern communication network in place that gives tenants multiple ways to contact the office. When I recently had a minor issue in our loft, a maintenance person arrived within hours - which was impressive considering I'd only made the appointment that same morning. Overall, our experience with Dirigo Management Company has been terrific.

The building is newly renovated and very well maintained. On the few occasions I have had a maintenance issue, they have come the same day I called or emailed to fix the problem. Everyone that I have interacted with has been friendly, professional, and helpful. I would highly recommend Dirigo to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I have been a tenant in a property managed by Dirigo Management for several years. I can't express enough about the attention to detail in my building with regard to general maintenance, super quick response to maintenance requests (usually completed same day) and professionalism of the staff at Dirigo. Not only is Dirigo efficient with regard to the above, any questions e-mailed to the staff results in super fast response and/or action taken, whichever the case may be. Great team!!

Negative experience: Poor communication and Little motivation to help solve issues when they arise. After hours they farm out to out-of-state answering service. They do seem to be good at offering platitudes on the google review board though! [EDIT] And I understand that a management company that posts tow-zone signs without contact telephone number to RETRIEVE a vehicle are probably poorly run, if not negligent. maybe dmc has been spending too much time tending an online reputation with vapid google responses to real issues. One star too many.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I rent an apartment in the Diego managed JB Brown building at 537 Congress St. in Portland, Maine. The building is very clean and obviously well maintained. The few minor issues that have cropped up during the past two years were always promptly addressed with a single phone call. over all, we couldn’t ask for better landlord.

Fantastic experience: Dirigo management is by far the best management company I’ve ever worked with. I have lived in an apartment through them for about 4 years total. They are extremely quick to respond, easy to reach, and happy to help with any questions or issues. The building is gorgeous, newly renovated, and I really have never had any problems. They come same day to fix a problem if you have one. You really will not get any better than Dirigo!

Negative experience: They manage a lot of the buildings in Portland Maine. And definitely should be avoided. I lived in an older building in the area and the location is great in general - close to restaurants. However, it was fairly noisy. The building super is awesome too. However, the actual property managers are awful. They never respond to phone calls/maintenance requests. There are days with too much heat in the summer and too little heat in the winters. The washers and dryers don't work more than 50% of the time.They also verbally say things that contradict with your lease. They will do anything to get you to sign the lease and then good luck. So be careful.

Fantastic experience: I've rented office space from Dirigo Managment Co for over 10 years. They have a great team. Very responsive to their business clients. The maintenance team works hard to keep our building in good condition.

Negative experience: They are crooks plain and simple!
