Home Source of Yakima: Reviews
Reviews are the opinions of their authors. We do not verify that the author was a customer.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with Home Source. Would recommend
Negative experience: Illegally listing properties. Egress windows are required by law in all advertised bedrooms. Listing and charging a 1 bedroom house as 4 bedrooms without a way for children/tenants to escape the basement "bedrooms" is going to get someone killed. All for greed. And Illegal. When brought to their attention they hide and delete the concerns on their posts. I have reported illegal listings to the City of Yakima and I encourage all others to do the same. We need landlords with integrity, not more slum lords.
Negative experience: I’ve been trying to figure out a lease takeover I can NOT get ahold of anyone in the office I’ve reached out via phone and text multiple times and have had no luck to the point I had to contact the property manager to have her attempt to reach out. I’ve had problems with communication all the way through my leasing since the very beginning. I wish I would’ve chosen somewhere else to live because this could’ve been avoided. The lack of communication has been very frustrating and is an ongoing problem. They won’t explain any of the process whatsoever and I’ve been left in the dark while trying to communicate to the other party who is trying to take over. I’m about to just break my lease and leave not to mention I was never made aware of the $75 a day late fee mind you I’m waiting on my first check from a new job. They don’t accommodate needs or anything of the sort once you’re in it’s like signing a deal with the devil your just screwed.
Negative experience: BE AWARE!! The white Volkswagen Passat with “the home source” written in blue on the sides is a danger on the road! Older lady seemed to have some tattoos, tried to run me and my boyfriend off the road while speeding through town. We did not let her and it seemed to make her even more mad to which she then tried to push me off the road again. I did not let her and she continued riding our asses. Really not good for the company but also very dangerous so I thought I should put this out there stay safe!!
Fantastic experience: Amazing people! Easy to work with
Negative experience: unorganized, unfriendly, and awful human skills. use other renters
Negative experience: I do not recommend this property management to anyone . Casey made me think that there was a way they can work with me due to my credit she said my credit wasn’t as bad and there is a chance they can work with my application. Few days later Alicia send me a text saying I need a two bedroom because I don’t qualify for a one bedroom when it’s only one adult and one kid and one 10 month baby. When I apply for the one bedroom no where on the application and on the website mentioned that it’s only 2 people for a one bedroom . Now I just got a email that my application been denied. They just like to take people money for the application fee.
Negative experience: Communication from management needs significant improvement. While they do send out messages about important issues like parking and pet policies, the tone often comes across as abrupt and unprofessional. Many of the messages contain spelling and grammar errors, which makes them feel rushed and not well thought out. Most of the communication focuses on warnings and threats of towing rather than promoting a respectful and cooperative community. A more professional, clear, and courteous approach would make a big difference in how tenants receive these messages. Overall, the effort to communicate is there, but the quality and tone could definitely be improved.
Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would
Negative experience: If I could give this place a negative one star review I would. They don’t care about fixing anything up. All management cares about is making a dollar off you. I feel like no one was trained right in this industry. Now I know why they have the worst ratings in the valley.
Fantastic experience: I rented with them for close to two years. They were very helpful about finding me a place that met my needs/budget and I feel like the rent was reasonable even including Pet rent. Never had any issues with the property and moving out was a simple process. Got most of my refundable deposit back too, which is nice.
Negative experience: We were looking into an apartment. And they said we were not denied, just so they didn't have to refund us. If we were denied to the property we were interested in per their policy we could've been refunded the $50 each we spent on their application. My partner said we have pets but they are ESA animals, & we were still denied at the property just because he stated pets & not ESA. They just told us to look at their other properties that accept pets..This company is so judgemental & refuses us any other properties available because of that. Its ridiculous. We have the paperwork for it & they did not ask, just denied. Don't waste you're money or time.
Negative experience: Submitted some information about a house..they said they would help me qualify for housing if I provided my paperwork..they didn't even work with me or waited until I had all my paperwork submitted..they ran it through and took my 50$ deposit..never got back to me..left me hanging..they are crook's.. when you ask to speak to the person in charge they won't give you a answer..very disappointed in their service.
Negative experience: If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. If I had the money to sue them, I would. I hope and pray nobody else gets robbed by this company or their landlords (behind the rentals). We initially rented with just a landlord. After the year was done we were on a month to month lease. We never signed a new contract which is not okay. But landlord eventually had home source handle “his properties.” After we moved out we had the carpet professionally cleaned, I cleaned the whole place except the windows. We gave a total of $3,400. We got $1,500 back. They unfairly kept $1,900. They stated they had to keep that much to cover a 3-inch hole made when we were moving because of an accident (which I take full ownership of.) They also said they had to cover nail holes (which is normal wear and tear in WA state and the landlord is responsible for that charge) and to paint which is also not the renters responsibility. Taking into consideration before we even put up anything on the walls we asked the landlord if we could and he stated “yes.” Never did he or anyone say they’d charge $1,900 for nail holes and paint. The hole on the wall I do understand but not even replacing a whole drywall costs that much. So all in all I GIVE 0 STARS AND HOME-SOURCE IS A COMPLETE JOKE. They only care about their company and ripping people off!! STAY AWAY FROM HOMESOURCE AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE TO RENT. PS I would look into who owns the places you rent too. People that have various rentals sometimes only care about the money.
Fantastic experience: Pretty decent rentals . Quick solution to get in and have a roof over your head . Not bad at all
Negative experience: We contacted this company about a two bedroom rental, we called email sent personal information and credit history, not once did we receive a call or email from this company, if you are looking to rent or are a landlord looking for tennants, stear clear from this company they are absolutely the worst ever
Negative experience: They only care about getting you moved in after that nothing else matters.
Negative experience: Horrible don't trust
Fantastic experience: HIGHLY Recommend! **Do your research, if there is a bad review, look at all the OTHER reviews that one person has done, the review may be a TREND for that person!!** Considering the housing market and response time I will continue to recommend Home Source. They are on time, with excellent customer service and delivery on promises. Try any other of the Property Management in Yakima and see how it compares. !!10 out of 10!!
Negative experience: WORST company to rent from in Yakima- horrible
Positive experience: Great renting with this company. However, poor communication on transitioning to another one of their properties. I will be renting from another place as renters' history with the company had no significance to them.
Fantastic experience: My son has lived here for a couple of years. The office staff and maintenance workers have always been kind ,helpful, and quick to resolve any issue.Special thanks to Ms. Mary.
Fantastic experience: I've had great experience with them. I rented my first apartment in Yakima from them and after I needed a bigger place I rented a two-bedroom house with a fenced yard and garage from them. I've been renting from them for almost 3 years.Their rent is cheaper than other places and they are very good. If there's a problem they have maintenance come right away. I've never had any problems with them and highly recommend them!
Fantastic experience: We have only had one experience with Lars and his team, but very impressed. Thoughtful, intuitive, exactly what we needed done. Impressed.
Fantastic experience: We have been going through home source for many years now and are absolutely happy with their work. Lars and his team are kind and knowledgeable, *Alicia is our favorite person to work with ;) They make having rentals a piece of cake! Highly recommend this business!!
Negative experience: Muy exigentes con los puntos de crédito y si no calificas pierdes tu dinero, yo tenia como comprobar por parte de mi banco mis puntos pero ellos usan diferentes agencias crediticias muy mala experiencia, $80 dólares a la basura
Negative experience: Absolutely horrible I couldn't believe the treatment from the girls that work there.I thought I was being pranked I don't recommend this company AT ALL.
Fantastic experience: Very fast at addressing and fixing issues. Very polite and helpful.
Fantastic experience: The leasing officer was nice and helpful and kept in contact with me during the process of renting from them
Negative experience: El personal es muy déspota,
Fantastic experience: Best propwrty management company in yakima!
Negative experience: this place is horrible. they cheated my mother, an elderly woman of 80, out of over 1000 dollars and basically laughed in her face! cost me THOUSANDS of dollars in repairs because the tennant they put in my moms rental was very destructive and i had fo replace an entire shower and two toilets and wallpaper walls that were so damaged they could not be repaired even by the professional i had to hire! DO NOT deal with these people, they are only in this game to make themselves and their friends money!
Positive experience: Decent places for rent
Fantastic experience: Very friendly....went out of their way to help!
Negative experience: This review is based solely on the application process. My husband and I applied for a rental and both had to fill out an application ($40 each). We applied for the rental the first day it was listed and the day after we applied for the listing it was pulled from the website. Concerned, I emailed and asked if the rental was still available. I was assured that it was, they had just had 20 people apply for the property in a single day. I was told that applications take 5 days to processes and we would be contacted as soon as our applications were approved or denied. After 5, 6 and 7 business days I still hadn’t heard anything. So I called, and the first time I got no answer. The second time someone answered and told me that the property we had applied for had been rented out already. (This is frustrating because if you spend $80 to apply for a rental the least they could do is give you a courtesy call or email and tell you that you didn’t get the property. That way we could have continued looking for available rentals instead of wasting time.) The person also told me that our applications hadn’t been approved because they were having trouble getting ahold of our references. They suggested that we contact our rental references and have them contact Home Source. This would be easier said than done since my husband is in the military. This means our most recent rental history is base housing (part of which was in Japan). The military is exceptionally difficult to contact for any reason and I am assuming sharing rental history is not high up on their list of things to do. So I’m assuming we just ate $80 despite the fact that we have excellent credit history and amazing personal references. I’m sharing this because I am super disappointed and hope the same thing doesn’t happen to you.
Positive experience: People are a little rude on the phone. Maybe some customer service skills classes would help
Positive experience: We moved in and out during covid-19. Jessica took great care of us and worked with us from showing us rentals to moving in and out. We are very satisfied with Home Source, the management and the maintenance team. The rental unit was very comfortable and pretty well taken care of. Whenever there was an issue that arose they were prompt to get it taken care of for us. Very responsive to emails or texts. Only reason I didn't give five stars is, after we had signed the paperwork to move in, they said the rent changed by more than $150 a month. By that time we really didn't have enough time to reconsider and find another rental. So we accepted the price increase. That being said we still enjoyed the rental and felt very comfortable and at home. They gave us our privacy but they were just a text or phone call away if we needed them. Paying rent online was easy. Home Source took good care of us while we were there. Moving out was just as easy. We received our deposit back promptly. Just a few weeks after we moved out. If we are ever in the position to need to rent again I feel confident that we would go with Home Source again. We recommend them.
Fantastic experience: The application process was so easy and seamless despite our current COVID-19 situation. In addition, every person I spoke to at Home Source was very helpful and polite. The unit itself was in excellent condition moving in, can’t rant enough about how clean it was. Their cleaning crew did an amazing job! The ability to pay rent and submit work orders online is also a plus!
Negative experience: I was moved into a place it had tagging in the back yard looked ugly and we didnt know what it ment. But the house was nice it was comfortable kids were happy dog was happy. Till someone did a drive by shooting on our place 2 months later. They told us we should just be glad no one was hurt and they wouldn't give is deposites back that it wasn't fair to the owners. They told us we should the thankful that we dont have to pay for the damages. And said the best they could do was have us give a 20 day notice and we loose all money put into it.. they dont care and almost seems like they blame us.
Fantastic experience: Help us find a apartment faster then wilson . Got us move in 6days, instead of month a half of stalling with wilson
Negative experience: Disgusting behavior of approving a Veteran for an place, having them get utilities in their name before papers are signed and then 2 hrs before signing deny veteran... I am appalled that a business who treat that veteran this way.... I will be warning all my fellow advocates and pass this info through the Veteran community.
Negative experience: Worst rental experience ever. Totally tried to screw us over and when I caught them they stopped answering my emails and calls. Don't rent from them!
Negative experience: I give ZERO Stars.... apparently they haven't changed their ways for over a year. It feels like this company accepts application fees and don't follow up immediately. I had all my application fees and move-in fees ready for a particular property, they took forever and hardly responded to my voicemails and took forever responding to my emails. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I shouldn't. If you're in the military I'm working to blacklist this company. They took over $120 in application fees for NOTHING!!! Definitely feels like an application fee scheme!!
Negative experience: Rental experience is easy and good, HOWEVER, the moving out process was less than desirable - We were charged for a utility bill that was supposed to be theirs. I called Home Source with proof stating that the bill was theirs and they assured me it would be taken care of and there would be no worries. 5 months later I get a letter in the mail stating that this bill has been sent to collections, which I now have to dispute. This never should have happened if they took care of it when they said they did. I am frustrated and feel taken advantage by this company and it makes me hesitant to rent from them in the future or recommend them to others.
Fantastic experience: Me gustan sus apartamentos, de hecho,yo tengo uno rentado,se ajusta al tus necesidades, hay bastantes aquí en yakima Washington.
Fantastic experience: I currently rent though HomeSource and would recommend them to anyone looking for an affordable and well-maintained rental property!
Fantastic experience: I have been helped by everyone in that office including Mike B and everyone has been great; super helpful and friendly. Great place of business.
Positive experience: This place offers easier eay of finding clients for landlords. However as a property owner myself have to go out of my way to vomllsin if tennent does bad things to neighbors like chopping down historic bine on my property.
Negative experience: Poor management, fail to keep in contact
