Negative experience: In all my years, I have never met a business woman as rude and nasty as Nancy. I called asking for help with auto pay and she was condescending and more. She blamed our bank yet it was an online payment issue on her end. The effort and energy you put into be a jerk could be used to help others. Try it Nancy!

Negative experience: Very Poor Property Management! Would highly recommend NOT renting through these guys! My parents and CHILDREN and I with special needs lived in a home “managed” by Accent Property Management and the home has been INHABITABLE since we moved in! Not to Mention Sunnyvale Condominiums HOA management! They Already have the place for rent with conditions of the Condominium being inhabitable!

Negative experience: Nancy Harris is an incompetent, lazy, manipulative liar. She pressured me to sign a lease that resulted in me getting scammed by another tenant and then berated me for being more cautious next time I signed a document from her. She was aggressive and emotional when she called me on her personal cell phone after business hours and berated me for questioning a predatory clause. She is unreliable and regularly ghosted me for week-long periods and was generally unprofessional and condescending in most interactions I had with her. It is clear that she is accustomed to taking advantage of naïve college students and has a strange power complex around property management.

Fantastic experience: As I'm getting ready to move out of my current rental home, I have to give a giant shout out to Nancy and Scott at Accent Properties. 12 years ago, I moved into a home with my little girls. A single mom, I called Nancy and Scott for help with everything. They were always super responsive and helpful and as kind as could be. Nancy helped me move into the current home I'm in and I never would have landed here without her help. Nancy and Scott are like family to all of us and I'm going to miss them very much. I can't recommend them or thank them enough for all of their years of support and care.

Negative experience: ILLEGAL PRACTICES from your agent Bill Morris. Here are his exact words when I wanted to tour a house for renting: "I only want to rent the home to a family. The current tenant has rented the house for 6 years. It will cost me over $10,000 in paint and carpets when a tenant vacates. Plus lots of time and energy on my part to find new tenants, and possibly a month of no rent. I have been a property manager for 46years, and through experience , familles stay in a home longer than 2 friends." This goes against Colorado law for fair housing. You cannot discriminate housing against someone based on things we know like gender and sexual orientation, however you also can't discriminate against FAMILY OR MARITAL STATUS. Meaning you can't refuse to show houses before I even apply just because I'm single or not married. I'm reporting you to the BBB and any other Colorado agency this involves. I have evidence of the conversation. Please reach out if you'd like to somehow rectify this.

Fantastic experience: I have lived in various units with Accent, and various other apartments in CO, and Accent has been by far the best property management group I’ve worked with. They have worked with me through various situations and are a much more “personal” company than most corporate type renters you will find in Boulder. Nancy has been a great point of contact and is always quick to respond to issues.

Fantastic experience: What an unexpectedly perfect experience the past 2 years with Nancy and Accent properties. For college living in Boulder, I’ve heard the horror stores and expected the worst. Quite the opposite was the case with Nancy and her team. Not only did my roommate and I get a killer deal on rent, but we received our security deposit back, the payment portal was easy, the maintenance guys were reliable, and the house was fantastic. It couldn’t have gone better. I strongly recommend accent over any other property management company in Boulder. If you actually care about how much rent you pay and your overall living experience, don’t mess around and stick with Accent. They don’t try to rip you off, they’re easy to deal with, and they care. We’re gunna miss it. Thanks for creating those amazing memories! Sko buffs. - The Cabin

Negative experience: Nancy is the best part of Accent Properties. She did everything in her power to help with noisy neighbors, but police intervention was required, and she always responded to and helped with problems as soon as she could. Took 8 months to respond to multiple black mold spots that had been present since before move in, all they did was paint over and cover with wooden planks. Other than mold spots and neighbors, unit was nice and price was fair

Fantastic experience: We have rented threw Nancy now for two years and it has been the best two years that we have ever rented from anybody. Nancy has always been sweet and kind to me and my family and we enjoyed every minute of it thank you Nancy for always being there for us. The Smith family will miss seeing your smile and warm heart.

Fantastic experience: I rented an apartment through Accent Properties for 3 years of my undergrad time at Boulder. Nancy and her associates have always been quick to respond to my calls/emails and gave me reasonable notices whenever they would be coming in for maintenance or showings. Overall had a good experience as a first time renter!

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed my experience with accent properties. Was a tenant for 4+ years, loved the property, and open communication with the management company. Nancy is great to work with and was always easy to get a hold of.

Negative experience: Painted over toxic mold many times. Huge amounts of black mold in the bathroom, I asked for it to be professionally removed because I became devastating ill and disabled with mold toxicity. They said yes, and both times I happened to be home for the "professional mold treatment" and it was simply a lady painting thick layers of regular paint, AGAIN. The mold would emerge in days. It has taken me many years to recover, I'm still very sick. I rented this house with my husband after getting married and feel like the honeymoon phase of my life was stolen and replaced with agony, fatigue, brain fog, nerve pain, not knowing if I would be able to walk or not each day, nausea, anxiety and depression. Had to move in with my Grandmother on short notice. They lied about treating the mold MANY times. The business owners seemed kind and I enjoyed my interactions with them but their mistreatment of the property and my health left me partially disabled. I am still undergoing treatment and am NOT ok. This was insane. I'm glad to see 625 Gay street has sold, I pray the owner does mold treatment or a demolition.

Negative experience: I want to start off praising Tawny Shipman for her professional attitude, willingness to work with tenants, kindness, and prompt action. Tawny was the only reason I made it through renting from Accent Properties without losing my mind. Nancy Harris, on the other hand, is one of the most unprofessional and rude people I have ever met. When a technical glitch prevented me from receiving notice on a showing in a reasonable time period (less than 12 hours), I asked to be rescheduled so that I could find proper accommodations for my disabled immune compromised husband to be away from the home while strangers were there. Nancy scolded me for calling her, told me the showing was going to happen anyway, and hung up on me. I had to call her back multiple times to get a response, I was hung up on more than once. When I did reach her I was screamed at, our financial status was used against us, she accused me of hiding something, and she treated myself, my husband, and our room mates like criminals. All for needing to simply reschedule a showing to accommodate someone with a disability. I never received an apology. The entire blowup could have been avoided if she had just done her job. DO NOT RENT FROM ACCENT PROPERTIES. If you find you have no choice, get everything in writing (typed or email, handwriting is sometimes not very legible), research tenant's rights, and stick to your guns. Try to work with Tawny as much as you can. She's the only one with the skills to interface with clients. Stay safe and sane.

Negative experience: DO NOT RENT A PROPERTY THROUGH ACCENT! I had issues from before my lease even technically started. The condition of the place was terrible when I got in including broken oven, missing drawers, black mold. These issues were reported repeatedly and either never fixed or fixed 8-10 months into my 12 month lease. I experienced hardship during the COVID outbreak and they offered no flexibility or support. THIS COMPANY IS A LEGAL SCAM. THEY'LL TAKE YOUR MONEY BUT NONE OF THEIR RESONSIBILITY. PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. From the look of the reviews I'm not the only one whose upset or been wronged.

Fantastic experience: I am renting one of Accent's single family homes in Lafayette. I have had to deal with the management several times over the years. I have found them to be friendly and competent. They also fixed and replaced broken things in my home.

Rebecca Sterling Published on Google

Negative experience: Nancy was not the nicest lady. She was quite rude, assumed incorrect things about me, and accused me of lying. I hope she is nicer to other people in the future and that nobody else experiences what I did when trying to sign a lease with her. I won't ever lease from Accent Properties because of this experience.

Fantastic experience: Great place to rent! Nancy is a great property manager and has been in boulder for many years. They are straightforward and no-nonsense. It’s kind of crazy how many negative reviews are on here, because they’ve never been anything but pleasant to deal with. Apparently a lot of people don’t understand how the rental process works, I guess. I highly recommend accent for rentals and sales.

Fantastic experience: Nancy has always been very helpful and prompt to return calls. She is very busy, but has always treated me fairly in our business. She gets me good tenants and when I need repairs or maintenance has go to people who get the job done in a timely manner. Would recommend for real-estate transactions and property management.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with Accent Properties. My friends and I were in contact with Nancy Harris about a property. We reached out to her and she promptly replied by sending a lease over. Upon inspection we found many clauses that were suspicious and took all blame from their group. We called Nancy and talked with her personally about changes to make on the lease. She agreed to make the changes that we wanted that would make it clearer, and emailed us later the next day with the “changed lease.” A couple things had been changed, but not as she’d said she would. Other clauses remained completely unchanged: any negligence was put on the tenant to pay (regardless of if it was our fault or not), and several more clauses that would allow them to take a our money if they wanted (which of course was a concern for us based on the reviews). When we reached out to her asking about the changes she had agreed to make, she refused to do so and told us if we didn’t sign they would move on.

Fantastic experience: I have no problems with Accent, they Were understanding when I needed an extension on rent or lost my key and are always prompt when they deal with an issue. Nancy is always friendly to us and fixes every issue that comes up as fast as she can.

Fantastic experience: As I sit here reading some of these reviews I'm in total dismay.... I have had the pleasure of renting from the team at Accent Properties and have had zero issues. They have been by far one of the most understanding and accommodating rental company I've ever done business with, this Summer 2018 we had a slew of bad roommates that absconded on rent, leaving me and my other flat mates in quite the hole. The team at Accent was more then understanding while we all complied funds to cover what previous flat mates hadn't paid. Anytime we've had an issue with anything Nancy, is quick to respond to e-mails/texts, when our oven broke we had a new one within three days. If you communicate with the office, you will have zero issues, so to all the one star reviews I say ignore them while Nancy, is a no nonsense person she is one of the nicest landlords I've had in 10+ years of renting.

Negative experience: Poor quality properties with dishonest and lazy property managers--avoid at all costs! Nancy is not at all up front; if you are an inexperienced college student you will be taken advantage of. For example, during our move-out evaluation she said everything was perfect and to expect the full security deposit returned, yet it arrived with a list of expenses tacked on for things we did not damage. The house we rented was in poor condition. You'd think charging over 3K per month (utilities not included) would give them enough of a budget to maintain the place, but no. They do the bare minimum, if anything, to keep their houses from rotting apart. Twice we had to call them about the same section of the fence collapsing. After six months, their solution was to nail the decaying wood back up, so, of course, it fell back down, exposing our back yard to everyone. A few months after leaving, I drove by. Lo and behold! They still have not fixed it.

Fantastic experience: Nancy is a very up front and honest. I had a very hard time adjusting from New York to Boulder, but she was always kind and understanding. She really helped me out A LOT. I was consistently impressed with how quick she responded to emails and any questions that I had. I am incredibly grateful to have been her tenant.

Fantastic experience: As a tenant I have to say that the team at Accent is exceptional in the fact of how helpful they are. Time and time again I am pleased with the quality of care and attention provided to my needs. Communication is crucial on both ends and as long as consistent dialogue is maintained, Accent will go above and beyond to help!

Negative experience: Worst people to rent from in Boulder. Nancy is the the most evil, manipulative, untrustworthy liar on the face of the earth.

Fantastic experience: Nancy and her team are great! Always responsive, follow through on requests and kind and courteous. I lived in an Accent managed home for three years and have nothing but fond memories of my time there (2015-2018) and of the Accent staff. If I ever move back to Boulder, they will be my first call.

Negative experience: The kind of Property Management company that'll STILL charge you for paint touchups after you meticulously spent hours going to the hardware store, comparing paint samples to your apartment walls, finding the perfect tone and touching up all the walls yourself.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely LOVE Accent Properties, my husband and I have worked with them now for the last four years. We use this company as our management company for our townhouse rental in Erie. We have had the same tenant renting our townhouse the entire time and feel very lucky in that respect. The tenant himself has been very happy working with Accent Property too and has spoken highly of the service that he has received from them, specifically, Nancy. Our repairs have been minimal (normal wear and tear) and we are always notified right away of any work that needs to be done AND the cost estimates. I can honestly say that Nancy and Accent Properties have made being a "landlord" a breeze. We are getting ready to list our townhouse to sell, so be sure to look for it listed with none other than Accent Properties!

Fantastic experience: I was looking up Accent Properties phone number in Boulder when I came upon these reviews. Wow...I HAVE to tell our story! After renting in Boulder over 12 years now, Nancy was absolutely, hands down the very best agent we have ever worked with. She was delightful as well. I cannot imagine anyone saying anything but great things about Nancy and Gary and Accent Properties. My husband and I rented from Nancy directly for four years, and she was amazingly gracious and HONEST as the day is long. Truly fabulous people to work with. Of course we paid our rent on time, and we took great care of the home we rented. Any time there was even a tiny fix needed, Nancy had plumber or a lock expert or landscape professional arrive on our doorstep within hours. I am quite dismayed at what some of these people have said. It feels like a "pile up" and full of revenge. I wanted to be sure and share HONESTLY what a great experience we had with Nancy. Those other comments sound very slanted. Too bad as people read these earnestly. I want to be sure everyone knows there is another story - they are truly the best company and we have worked with many! :)

Negative experience: Most of my experience with Accent properties was fairly benign. I wasn't bothered much at home and the people working the front desk when I would drop rent off were always pleasant. That being said, I would not do business with them again and would warn anyone else against doing so. Nancy Harris has been an absolute terror to work with. Based on personal experience, first hand testimony and other reviews I have read, I believe I can say with very little doubt that Nancy is just plain dishonest. Apparently she will not hesitate to flat out lie if she decides she doesn't care for you. If you happen to have the misfortune of getting Nancy as your agent my advice to you is document everything. Get as much as you can in writing, maybe even record some conversations. Just cover yourself. I sincerely hope this doesn't just sound like some fresh out on his own kid who's salty about how he's been treated. I've been around. I know honesty and fairness when I see it and I know who I would want to do business with again. Nancy is none of those.

Jared Stormer Published on Google

Negative experience: Nancy Harris is a liar and a thief, there is no other way around it. She will do whatever she can to extract every cent she can from you. DO NOT do business with these people. She will act like she is your friend and is a nice old lady but it is not the case. She makes her living off of stealing from broke college kids to pay for her botox and vanity plates. Do whatever you can do to not do business with this company. We were essentially ripped off for over $1,000 total on false claims that we could not refute without going to court.

Jessica Brown Published on Google

Negative experience: Don't be fooled. Nancy can appear to be a lovely women. She is your worst nightmare. Nancy will take your entire security deposit - the MAJORITY of it for "other" or "touch ups," she will never spend a dime on improvements - but will forge documents to pretend she has, and she will undoubtedly fight you for every dime you are worth. If you like flushing money down the toilet and blatant disrespect, I highly recommend Nancy and her team at Accent Properties. No choice? Already signed? Goodluck. Track your expenses and get a lawyer.

Fantastic experience: Accent Properties was the best experience I have ever had with a property management company. Normally, I try to stick to private owner landlords, as I have had so many poor experiences with property management companies. Nancy was exceptional as my landlord, we were tenant's for two years and never had a problem. They were on the seen when the main line clogged in 24 hrs with help. Nancy and everyone there changed my property management as terrible people to work with theory upside down. True most are difficult, however these guys and gals do an exceptional job!!

Fantastic experience: Nancy Harris is a great realtor, she helped me and my room mates find our first apartment very professionally and happily and is now helping me to find another house. Leah (the secretary) and Nancy are so cheerful all the time and I love to go into their office because I know they will be glad to see me and discuss business. Every time we have had a problem (getting locked out, door sticking, dryer breaking, etc...) they have always made a conscious effort to come and fix the problem quickly. Also, every time I have had to replace something myself, they have always refunded every last penny that I spent on the job. Being a college student and renting for the first time was really terrifying, but they made it simple and walked us through everything. Even when we forgot that we had to set up electricity with Exel for 4 months, they helped get us through it and we didn't loose power. All of the utilities that are contained within the main bill of the rent is also very reasonable and very inexpensive for what we were expecting from boulder. I see all these reviews about people having trouble with the company, but I honestly don't see it, as long as I have continued to respect them and have on time rental payments and fair dealings and requests, they have given me the exact same treatment. These are good people and I plan to rent from them until I leave Boulder.

Cassie D Published on Google

Negative experience: Hated it. Took 6 months to do any repairs, not to mention the initial ones that were supposed to be done upon move in. Made up false claims to withhold part of deposit, which took 2 months to get back, including bills we had previously paid. Worst rental company ever.

Natasha Wettstein Published on Google

Negative experience: Where to start? The office staff at Accent Properties was wonderful. Very nice and very helpful in answering most of the questions I had about a property. However, when I came to visit the property I found the realtor, Nancy, to be terribly ignorant and dismissive. Watching how she treated the few other people viewing the property within the window of time I was there, I warn anyone under 35 or with disabilities not to bother trying to speak with her. When I tried to discuss the 'pet policy' and my service dog, attempting to inform her of certain clauses within the Fair Housing Act, she told me "It doesn't matter," and indicated a filled-out application from an older couple, seemingly saying she would not take my application even if I cared to apply. I kindly told her that on principle it did matter, because as a realtor she and her company should be well-informed about all aspects of the FHA and ADA. She turned to the older couple and ignored me until I walked away. This is up there on my list of "most frustrating interactions with people who should know better". Perhaps Accent Properties should consider asking one of their secretaries to take over for Nancy, as they were all much more polite and welcoming.

Ryan Decker Published on Google

Negative experience: As with many of these other reviews: BEWARE! Do NOT use these property management folks if you care about honesty. First, I have been renting properties for the last 12 years all over the country. From college to the Navy, I have used numerous property management companies over the years and this is the WORST. First, very disorganized and very dishonest. When we did our move in inspection, Nancy Harris forgot the form and so she wrote it on the back of a scratch piece of paper. Come to find out during move out, she had decided to fill out her own form, never had us review it and signed it as "Tenants not available for inspection." Totally false. Next, the property was HORRIBLE. It had not been maintained adequately and had numerous life safety issues that I ended up fixing myself. BUT, during move out, she is trying to charge us for all kinds of damage and above wear and tear items. She is trying to keep over half of our deposit for items that were in need of repair about 10 years ago. She used her own made up form from move in and then gave us a very generic description of the charges. We are having to fight it now, and we are getting ZERO response from them for over 6 months. Do yourself a favor and AVOID this company at all costs. They are shady, dishonest and just horrible human beings.

Kate Yzquierdo Published on Google

Negative experience: Do not rent with Accent Properties. Nancy is always rushed and in a hurry and doesn't give you the time of day. There were so many errors with the rental property that they did not fix after emailing, calling and attempting to get ahold of. Every time I had to contact or communicate with Accent, it was a stressful, rushed encounter. Find another place to live; dealing with these people isn't worth it.

Brenda Small Published on Google

Positive experience: So college students or people not wealthy enough to own in high-priced Boulder shouldn't be allowed dogs? It's tough enough trying to find a place to rent when you have a pet without everyone down on you because of some idiot who can't control his dog. Accent has been great to us which is why we've rented from them for three years now. Yeah, the house is fine but the best is having a fenced in yard so we know our puppy is safe. People shouldn't let their dogs run loose, it's not fair to the rest of us. And if their's really a vicious dog attacking people, I'd think animal control are the people to call.

Mark Young Published on Google

Fantastic experience: Nancy ang Gary are great. They have managed proeprty for me without a hitcha and when I needed to rent a place they were right there for me. I have refered several friends and no one has been dissapointed. I would and do recomend them to everyone.

Sara Sullivan Published on Google

Positive experience: They are generally friendly, and when I needed to get off my lease, they let me switch with another person for free. (Unlike BPM, by the way, who charges $300.) The house I am in switched from FourStar and the rent went up. Amazingly, our total monthly payment went down because Accent has no mystery utility and administration fees, like FourStar.
