Negative experience: I have worked with many realtors in my life and i had great successes with many that helped me buy houses and then helped me sell years later. This was one of my worst experiences thus far. I got zero responses on every question i asked. I was not given clear answers on anything. I lived in California during this and bought the house in Colorado before i relocated and as you can imagine communication was keen to ensure that i am comfortable with the huge transaction i was embarking on. You can say that communication was non existent. In several occasions it also seemed that the realtor was working for the other party rather than trying to help me. My feeling was that he just wanted to make a sale to get the commission and that's it. Horrible experience.

Fantastic experience: Do not be fooled by the fairy tale that a realtor is unnecessary or optional in a strong sellers' market. Do not be enticed by the lure of "easy money" and "innovation" offered by the flat fee alternative. I have no background or legitimate experience in real estate, but that has not stopped me from buying and selling several 1st and 2d homes over the past 10 years. And I can say without hesitation that Brent Hilvitz and his team delivered the best experience, top to bottom, beginning to end, that I could have imagined. On the surface, our transaction appeared to fit into "slam dunk" status, but the succeeding months were a testament to the unexpected and unforeseeable, conditions that existed below the surface that I could barely fathom. Brent was masterful, both intellectually and emotionally supportive, and navigated my wife and me through a few complicated and unanticipated turns. Don't misinterpret my review as a vote against the flat fee approach or listing your home yourself. Rather, think hard about whether or not you need an expert to assist you in the buying or selling of your home. I will never represent myself in a court of law, change out my own transmission, or remove my own appendix. Brent Hilvitz is an expert. And incidentally, I did not miss out on a single penny by passing on the alternatives and choosing Redesigned Realty.

He went way beyond his obligations as a realtor to make sure all parties in a 1031 exchange met their's on time, including helping the buyer find and secure backup financing when their original plan went off-course. He more than made up his commission by helping me find the right buyer and replacement property, negotiate big savings in those contracts and by holding all parties to the terms. The positive and calm manner in which he and his team dealt with all the details and crises behind the scenes made the whole process seem easy and fair.
