Negative experience: Searching for months for an apartment after our building was sold. Contacted on a rental app about an apartment down the block from me. Got a call from Jeffrey Sulaymanov the next day (Sunday) at 8:23 pm, about a showing the following day (Monday) from 12-1. Had to shift some things but made it work. Attended the showing and he seemed professional and friendly. Only saw 1 other person who got there after me. Interesting to think about now. I knew it would probably be the best option at this point. Walked around measuring rooms just to be sure. Texted him immediately after getting home asking how to start the process of applying and what he would need. Since usually it's first come first serve.  As soon as the showing was over at 1, he texted me saying was driving to his office and would hopefully send it as soon as he got there. Still didn't hear anything a few hours later a little after 5 pm. So texted to prompt again, just wanting to get it all going as we need to move out asap. At 8:25 pm he emailed the application and list of requirements. Great. Got to work on getting it all completed. Sent it over the next morning including the $100 Zelle for the processing fee all before 8:30 am. Waited anxiously for an update. Finally Thursday night he texts to tell us they went with another application. That he would send the reports over and see how much of the processing fee he could get back to us. Called after 8pm for a showing the next afternoon...but not to tell us we didn't get the apartment and now had nowhere to move. Gutted, we tried asking what the issue was and if there was anything we could change. Even to pay more. He said he didn't know the details of why the other application was accepted. If there was no issue maybe my family would have a place to live for the holidays. No response since asking if he had any other similar apartments in the area. Communication could be better. No refund or even partial refund. He did send over the credit report/background check though. EDIT: Lowered rating as 2 reviews were brought to my attention. 1 particularly interesting review from the new tenant. The one Jeffrey was super friendly and chatty with, who arrived after I did. In the back of my mind I worried their would be some level of favoritism. But I brushed it off as overthinking. Expecting there would be professionalism. Choosing instead to focus on getting the application process started. Can't say for certain this is why theirs was accepted but it couldn't have hurt. Was this the reason it took so long to get the application? Now I'll never know. Finding out they were kept updated every step of the way, while we texted for updates since we weren't hearing anything. Very interesting. But no idea why their application was accepted...Its not so much that another application was accepted. But more so that it wasn't because the application came in first. In my experience, honest isn't the word I would use to describe this. Honest would have been mentioning the other application taking some level of priority so we could move along. Not dragging your feet to send over an email and wasting our time. A little heads up is all. Would not recommend.
