Navigating any real estate transaction is never easy, but doing so in the circumstances we faced were particularly challenging and overwhelming. My wife and I live in the Washington DC metropolitan area and my wife’s brother passed away. He resided in a Portland suburb and this required us to not only manage the sales process from 3000 miles away but we also quickly recognized that the Oregon real estate market, laws, and practices were different than our local market. After some detailed personal research to find an agent in the Portland area, I settled on Darcie and reached out. Simply stated, she exceeded all our expectations. She and her team were quick, responsive, communicative, and compassionate throughout this process, handling every detail with care, patience, and professionalism. Five areas in particular stood out. First, Darcie and her team communicated clearly and promptly, providing us regular updates and objective perspectives and advice. Second, they managed all of the marketing and showings of the property and stepped in to help us identify and coordinate with local contractors to prep the home. Third, Darcie was a key advisor and honest broker in both negotiating on our behalf but also advising us on local market conditions and how to consider offers/counter-offers. Fantastic experience: I’ve always known that buying a home can be incredibly stressful, but throw in this crazy market AND being a first time homebuyer and it’s bound to be overwhelming! Fortunately, my fiancé and I were able to have Darcie as our agent throughout the process. Fantastic experience: Apologies in advance for the long review, but as Chase, Darcie and the entire VanderZanden team helped my wife and I in the most important financial transaction of our lives, I think it is justified. I want to begin by emphasizing that we are very cost conscious, and the decision to purchase a home was not made lightly. We did massive amounts of research and so when we got to the Real Estate Agent phase of the process, we had our foot on the gas. The first thing that really struck me about Darcie and Chase was that they actually asked us to take a step back, and sent us some helpful data to look through so that we were 100% sure this was our time to buy. It was immediately clear to me that they cared more about us as people than they did about closing a deal. Once we verified that we were ready, they tirelessly worked on our house hunt, and Chase especially went above and beyond in accommodating long days of in person viewings (as we lived out of state and really wanted to get as many in as we could while in town). We found our home, and from there our future was really in the hands of the VanderZanden team. Chase supported us every step of the way through the inspection process, the negotiations, and the subsequent repairs we had agreed upon with the Seller. He has coordinated with contractors, advised us and comforted us in times of stress, and is someone I would now consider a friend.
