When I was ready to buy he made sure that I had all of my documents prepared and organized, anticipating a fast paced market. We looked at a lot of neighborhoods and went to a lot of Open Houses! One of them was in Riverside RI. I did a drive by the day before the Sunday Open House, and told Matt that I wasn’t sure about it so I’d go on my own. Well, I got there, saw the neighborhood, home and yard- and knew that it was the one! I texted Matt saying uh-oh I should have asked him to go to the open house with me. He said he’d be right there, and left whatever he was doing to join me! The selling realtor set a deadline for offers for that evening, and there were multiple offers. But, because Matt had the necessary documents ready, and because of his expert negotiating skills, I got the house! Experiencia fantástica: Matt was so amazing to work with. We were selling our house in RI and buying in another state, so we had to use another realtor for the buying process. Matt was communicative with us as sellers and also with our out of state real estate agent to ensure everything ran smoothly. He’s familiar with the area and attended every open house and showing. He was willing to work with our schedule and he was willing to make time in his busy schedule to provide extra open houses as were under pressure to sell quickly. He gave pointers on how to make the house look more appealing from a staging perspective and answered all of our questions along the way. He was also available via call/text. We ran into some bumps in the road in our selling process (issues with potential buyers lenders and such, nothing of Matt’s fault), and as sellers we were stressed, but Matt assured us he’d work everything out and he did. We were definitely the latter two and on top of that, we were internationally based and he actually walked thru properties using FaceTime or WhatsApp video on several occasions! I saw several great personality traits in my man Matt: he was not shy to tell us when he thought a property was not really what we should be chasing, he knew when to add his excellent technical advice and he knew an amazing array of contacts who could help us in this process….from insurance agents to electricians to other real estate agents who had knowledge of a property. The problem was, we were first time home buyers, did not have a realtor, or a plan and got VERY quickly overwhelmed by the seller, who was also the realtor (if it sounds shady, it's because it was), trying to pressure us into using him as our realtor (conflict of interest much?!) vs. seeking one out to represent us in the buying process. We were bombarded with late night text messages and threats to not accept our offer if it included realtor fees and manipulation regarding being out bid by "higher offers" from "several" potential buyers. My brother ended up connecting us with Matt and I am SO happy he did! Matt stepped in immediately, set up strong boundaries with the seller/realtor and took over all communication; I am still in awe on how well he was able to keep his professional integrity intact throughout! Matt got us through SO many hurdles and was able to walk us through what would have otherwise been a NIGHTMARE and we were finally able to close on our first (dream) home! Even after the closing, Matt has been extremely supportive and helpful, going as far as to deal with a lien that was missed during the title search and continuing to relay communications between us and the seller (thank goodness!) .
