I'm writing this from the dining room of our new home, surrounded by moving boxes and a napping dog. We've been slowly moving in over the course of the last week, and I can honestly say there hasn't been a day that we haven't talked about how lucky we were to have Melissa there to help us make it happen. My partner and I were not overly familiar with the process of buying a home before we contacted Melissa. I'm sure there are many of you reading this, looking for a realtor for the first time, who are in the same boat. On our very first meeting (on a quarantine Zoom call) Melissa patiently detailed each step and let us know what actionable things we'd be doing right away. There's a dense fog of new information and stress as you learn how multi faceted the entire process is, and she helped us not only see a clearer picture but compartmentalize the process into tasks we would to accomplish together. She prepared us for financing, set up a custom search using our price/area/style preferences, and started booking showings. She learned our less searchable tastes along the way and got pretty darn good at predicting the things we'd find charming and which we'd find damning. When we finally found THE house, we were introduced to another side of Melissa -- The fighter. The first house we bid on went into multiple bids on the opening day. Not a dream scenario for first time buyers, but it's a competitive market and we were mentally prepared (thanks to Melissa) for that possibility. She helped us craft an offer that was uncomplicated, appealing to the seller, offered us safety, and was within our comfort zone. She stayed up with us late into the night building the details and she woke up early the next day to do the final signing. Our offer was accepted, thanks to her guidance and knowledge of what the sellers were looking for. We were not the highest bidders in dollar amount. The fight didn't end there, though. Throughout the inspection process and the last stage of negotiations she was on the front lines, taking our 11pm calls, offering advice, and communicating with the seller's agent to make sure we closed the deal and were comfortable with the terms. Perhaps most important of all, she genuinely cared about us; how we were feeling each step, helping us learn the process, and never (not even a little) nudging us towards a decision. She'll fight for you and your best interest because she cares, and she'll check on you long after you close because she cares.
