Without the weird culty sales energy. Without trying to convince me the house with the concerning crack in the foundation was "full of character." Look, I'm gonna go ahead and say it: as a professional myself, many realtors seem to be an insult to the word "professional." I don't say that lightly, I say it as someone who's been convinced into things I didn't really want to do, pressured to drop contingencies, and generally treated like a walking commission check. It's absolutely exhausting. My experience here was completely the opposite, it was wonderful! I was a patient buyer, and I let them know up front I preferred to wait over buying the wrong home. Took me almost a year to find the right property for my family in a questionable market. These folks NEVER once made me feel like I was wasting their time. No guilt trips, no "this market waits for no one" nonsense, just steady, honest guidance from people who actually know what they're talking about. Because here's the critical thing: they're LAWYERS. They can advise you on contracts, review documents, and actually represent your actual legal interests. Standard realtors aren't able or even allowed to do that. On top of that, when they collect their buyer-broker commission at closing, these folks refund part of it straight back to you. The insane thing is: THE COMMISSION WAS HAPPENING ANYWAY! That money was leaving the table regardless... might as well be you pocketing part of it! I genuinely don't understand why every homebuyer isn't doing this. Save yourself the headache and a bunch of cash because these guys are the real deal... patient, sharp, and refreshingly uninterested in pressuring you into anything. If more people in this market operated like this, we'd all be better off. These lovely folks need to franchise to other states ASAP! Highly, highly recommend.

The fact that we were able to hire an attorney to be our buyer agent with the background and experience that Doug brings and do it at a buyer fee substantially lower than what is typical in the industry shows just how badly out of balance the current real estate industry is. Fantastic experience: I will never buy property any other way than the Doug Miller way. And you shouldn’t either. He is a licensed Realtor as well as a real estate attorney. He has testified before Congress regarding the corruption in the real estate industry. He’s a straight shooter and a Pit Bull—who you want in your corner doing a real estate deal. Yet, he’s a very nice fellow at the same time. He charges a flat rate for those purchasing a home, collects the commission as the buying agent, and refunds the buyer the balance. (A similar deal applies to sellers, I imagine, though I haven’t been in that position.) He’s got a team of like-minded players (closing companies and inspectors) who won’t rip you off and ensure your real estate deal is done right. I can’t recommend Doug highly enough! My wife and I have gone through a couple of deals with him over the last three years and he has been nothing but encouraging, patient and dedicated to us, his clients. If you make a real estate deal with anyone other than Doug Miller you are losing money.

Fantastic experience: Doug Miller did a fantastic job selling my condominium in Bloomington, Minnesota, and I highly recommend his services. As an attorney I really appreciated Doug laying out his expenses and fee structure. Not only did I pay much less in realtor commissions, I received much more in service than I had with two prior realtors that I had discharged during this process. I highly recommend talking to Doug about the real estate business and how commission fees can be structured to actually reflect the value of your home and the actual effort by your realtor. You will not receive the full benefit of a realtor's commission from any of the usually 6% realtors that you do business with. They simply should not be charging the percentages from your home sale or purchase when the product should sell itself. Doug was realistic about spending money on condo updates versus a solid listing price. Doug was also very good with keeping me in the loop on negotiations. He worked evenings and weekends to make sure we kept negotiations moving forward in real time, so we were able to capitalize on offers during a very brisk real estate market. I had previously fired another realtor, plus a second realtor that had a part-time law practice. Both wanted to list my condo and make a quick buck for themselves. Between the two prior realtors, I found all residences that I viewed with the prior realtors with the exception of one. Much of the information from prior realtors was contradictory when I questioned listing price and timing with the purchase of a new home. Also, the prior realtors wanted a substantial investment of my money for updates to my former condo simply for the purposes of a quick sale, while the condo itself was only 11 years old. When I asked the prior realtors what they were doing for their commission they could not define what they were doing to earn their fee other that open doors at showings and put my prior condo on the listing service. There was no analysis or actual effort being expended by the prior realtors.

Fantastic experience: As a buyer, we are so lucky to have Doug has our agent. He has always took our best interests in his mind. Not only he charges a significantly lower fee than the market average, but also also helped us avoid a mistake of inexperienced buyer that could have costed a lot more to repair/maintain down the road. He is very selective with the contractors that he uses. For example, the inspector he uses in our case was so thorough (including infrared camera photos) and professional. We are super impressed by his negotiation skills, we could not have negotiated better ourselves.

Fantastic experience: When we decided to sell our house, we also decided we didn’t want to use a “regular” realtor or list it ourselves. We came across Doug’s website while searching for an alternative. We were very happy with his services throughout the process. Doug helped us secure earnest money and monetary damages when an inspector damaged our home in breach of the contract. He took over for the buyer’s realtor when he was hospitalized with Covid-19 and stopped communicating just days before our closing date. We saw no reason to hire a realtor at that stage to work as a buyer's agent but not using an agent wasn't going to save us money(the builder saves the 2.7% but doesn't pass on the savings to buyers. It's ridiculous!!). We found Doug who agreed to represent us as our agent and charging a reasonable fixed fee(instead of a % that realtors usually charge, another absurd practise in the real estate industry) to go over the documents/contracts (Doug is actually qualified to do this since he is a lawyer) and help us with the negotiations. We had a smooth process from start to finish with Doug and we successfully closed on our home and saved over 9000 dollars!! I can't recommend Doug more highly. He is trying to help people save on real estate transactions and reform the way this whole process works.
