Negative experience: Wendy helped my wife and I find in apartment in New Haven. She had an extensive knowledge of the neighborhoods, but I did not appreciate her lack of professionalism. We had our eyes set on an apartment, and asked multiple times for the Utility report costs as I had a feeling they would be high given the commercial style ventilation. She kept making excuses and then pressured us with the classic “i have someone else trying to sign right now if you don’t” line. It left a horrible taste in our mouth. As I thought, the utility costs were astronomically high and more than likely there wasn’t the mysterious buyer looking to outbid us. Something to be mindful of when looking for a realtor: trust and integrity.

Fantastic experience: Upon my first meeting with Dallas i felt seen and heard. as my search for a home transformed due to the housing market changes, Dallas had a sense of what would work for me in my situation. Dallas was always a gentleman, kind and sensitive to my needs. we both knew when we walked into the condo i would ultimately purchase that it was IT! His guidance and expertise as we moved forward quickly with an offer, secured the deal. mind you there were 15 offers in the 3 days it was on the market. i am forever grateful to Dallas, who in my humble opinion is professional, savvy, and intuitive.

Fantastic experience: Ross Cotjanle helped us buy our first home in 2015. He spent many hours helping us explore towns in the New Haven area and, after we fell in love with the Bethany area, he helped us find a ranch home on a large lot at the end of a dead-end street. He indulged our interest in historic homes at the time, but they were a bit too intimidating financially. He’s now worked a miracle and we have our dream home. A colonial home (circa 1785) situated beautifully on eight acres between two brooks—with a waterfall visible from the kitchen window. I can say with absolute certainty that we would not be in this home if it weren’t for Ross. Throughout this process, with each little crisis averted, I would say “Ross! You did it! You are magic!!” But he wouldn’t accept my thanks and praise until the papers were signed and we had the keys. Well, it has happened. We sit and look at the crooked door casings and elaborate mantles and think of ways to thank Ross. Nothing seems big enough. We were not actively looking for a house when we saw this property come on the market. In fact, we’d just renovated our kitchen and were making plans to try to transform our modest ranch home into something resembling a farmhouse with a second-story addition. We instantly fell in love with the home and property in Woodbridge. It seemed so perfect for us that we couldn’t imagine it would ever be possible. It even had a first-floor in-law suite for my mom! We didn’t have our home ready to go on the market and worried that a Hubbard clause wouldn’t appeal to the sellers and so we tried really hard not to fall too much in love. Ross helped us put together an offer that we could afford and we learned there was another interested buyer. When the other buyer, who didn’t have to sell first, offered more than us, we figured we had to let it go. A week or so later, we wrote Ross. We realized we’d regret it forever if we didn’t stretch to at least try. He put a higher offer together and then reported that the buyers might be interested, but only if we could get an actual offer in process on our house. We decided on Wednesday to go on the market Friday. After hours of frantic cleaning and staging, we piled the two boys, dog, and my mother into the car and headed out of town. Ross kept us updated on the weekend of showings and we were thrilled to receive offers at asking price on Monday. Ross became part of our nighttime routine during this process. As the boys had their bath with Dad, Ross would catch me up on the newest developments. The thing that sets Ross apart from pretty much every other person I’ve ever done business with is his patience. Real estate transactions bring out such a range of emotions! I know I’ve reacted in less than helpful ways during this months-long process (our buyers and sellers are certainly WAY less reasonable than us, of course ;) but Ross would always listen and offer calm guidance and often just solve problems before even mentioning them to me. I don’t think he would even like me to try to count the hours he spent sorting out issues at town hall in Woodbridge and Bethany, nudging septic contractors (there was a lot of septic drama), and ever so politely asking health inspectors to sign documents so we could close. It was an immense effort. It was a herculean effort. I can’t imagine asking a person to work that hard on my behalf. But the thing with Ross is that he just does it. His clients never need to ask. It’s just how he does his job. He is the best. Thank you, Ross. From all of us. You’ve made our dreams come true.

Negative experience: This agent (Frank) entered an apartment of a multi-apartment house when they were previously told they did not have permission to enter. They had written permission or denial of all tenants as to whether they could enter at a specific time for a showing. They ignored the tenant telling them they could not enter on more than one occasion. This is a huge violation of privacy and unethical behavior.

Fantastic experience: A+. If DiDi and Olivia from REAL LIVING WARECK D'OSTILIO would get a letter grade, they deserve an A+. We sold our cape style house in New Haven with the help of DiDi and Olivia in a heartbeat for an excellent price. About 3 weeks after the initial listing we got the deal-making offer (the first one we had after five days). DiDi and Olivia helped us each step along the way. With them, you get the power of two experienced professionals for the price of one. DiDi did a splendid market analysis which guaranteed that we priced the house right. Not too cheap, not overpriced which could slow down a transaction. Olivia then made sure that the staging was perfect. Our house looked de-cluttered, warm and fresh thanks to her guiding hand. All pictures of our cape showed it in its best light. Both supported the sales with countless marketing measures. Without their legal knowledge we could have not sold our house. We count us lucky having worked together with DiDi and Olivia. Both are so friendly and true advocates for your interests. Not pushy, not self-centered, rather: ready to help you sell and buy a home, not just a house.

Fantastic experience: I worked with Didi and Olivia last spring to sell my home. I highly recommend them. They are professional and knowledgeable. Our home sold quickly in a tough market and for a price that was in the range of our expectations. Didi and Olivia know New Haven - if you want to buy a house in the city - you cannot go wrong with them. They also know how to stage a house and properly present it. If you look on line, many listings have pictures that do not show the best sides of a home - Olivia and Didi make sure that proper photos are taken and that what gets posted shows the best of your house. Finally, they know how to deal with other realtors and to assess the quality of an offer you receive. We also used Didi to search for a new home. She was patient with us. It took several years of on and off again looking for us to find the right place. Didi was always supportive and never placed pressure on us to complete the search. In the end - we found what we wanted.
