Fantastic experience: This apartment is so beautiful and comfortable to live in. All the neighbors are really friendly, too. But the best part is definitely the maintenance! Alex and Jeff are always quick to respond and fix any issues right away. They are the absolute best duo!

Negative experience: 2/5 rating because I had my car broken into and stolen 2 times. If it wasn’t for this issue, I would have easily recommended this complex to anyone. I have been a resident of this apartment for 2 peaceful years, until my 3rd year when my car got firstly broken into, and then got stolen the second time. Very frustrating! The building has security cameras, but they are not very helpful when the thieves are wearing masks. The apartment complex should explore other security measures to strengthen the parking lot safety.

Positive experience: Beautiful building with updated apartments and nice amenities (gym & laundry). Unfortunately, there isn’t any green-space/lawn or outdoor space. Only negative is that parking is a NIGHTMARE if you get home after 10pm! I can’t see why they don’t have an assigned spot for each apartment.

Fantastic experience: The apartments are neat, neighbours ok (depending on which apartment you're located in, but that's apartment life for you), location fantastic, rent reasonable, but the bestest thing about this complex is the duo of Alex and Jeff, who are there to do maintenance and explain basic things whenever you ask! Always smiling and understanding, they are one of the main reasons we can't imagine living anywhere else :) thanks guys!

Fantastic experience: I waited until I have been living here for more than a year to leave a comment. Five stars for the overall experience. Great maintenance team, particularly Jeff and Alex, they are so responsive to requests and accommodations. The monthly bill covers rent, （hot) water, and AC. Great gym on the ground floor. The apartment has been recently renovated and everything was handled very nicely. Friendly neighbors and nice parks around. One small thing though, if you also consider living on the fifth floor: it takes some time for the hot water to come out if you take a shower early in the morning. Other than this, everything is perfect. I just renewed for another year.

Fantastic experience: The maintenance team at Lakewood are great! I put in a request regarding our refrigerator, and Jeff came to look at it, ascertain the problem, and resolved the issue really quickly. He was super responsive and attentive from the moment I placed the request, until everything was finished - he made sure to answer any questions we had, and remained communicative throughout.

Fantastic experience: Great place to live, laundry a little steep but, convenience is key. Overall no complaints.

Fantastic experience: Had to have a couple of things done including recently having my AC fixed in my unit. The maintenance team was great, did everything quickly and Jeff was extremely responsive when I reached out regarding the issue. Would recommend.

Positive experience: The apartment complex was clean and well maintained. Leasing office and maintenance were very timely with responding to issues and always very pleasant to deal with. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because the walls between apartments were quite thin and I could hear my neighbors at all hours of the day/night, and water was shut off quite frequently (even though we were typically warned ahead of time). Overall, I would recommend Lakewood!

Fantastic experience: I just want to say again how much I love living at Lakewood Apartments! I've lived many places and the value, location and staff are the best. If you're looking for a place in the Greater New Haven area, take a look at an apt. here. It's by the Playright, little shops and the post office and library are on the next block. It's along Lake Whitney. with nice walking trails at a park up the street. And the property manager Joanna and maintenance staff are great here. Joanna is friendly and kind, always making sure the residents are happy.

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with the maintenance at Lakewood apartments. It was new year day when I needed maintenance, and the superintendent (Jeff) came in within 20 minutes of service request and fixed my problem in no time. Highly recommend the maintenance crew at Lakewood Apartments.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been here for a little over a year and still loving my experience! The staff is still great from my leasing agent to the awesome maintenance team!!! I appreciate the care and time they give their tenants. I even received a Happy Birthday email. It’s a small and thoughtful gesture. I still love living here, top 10 recommend!

Fantastic experience: Seamless move in process. Recently renovated apartments that are spacious and comfortable. Since moving in, our early maintenance requests were expertly handled quickly by the very capable (and friendly) Jeff and Alex!

Fantastic experience: I really enjoy living at Lakewood. It's very well kept- if there's ever things that need to be fixed maintenance does it promptly. My neighbors are very nice. It's also super quiet. Having a gym and laundry in the building is an added plus.

Positive experience: The maintenance guys in this building are amazing - super kind and prompt about fixing any issues. I also love the location of the building - it’s equally distant from the center of New Haven and the center of Hamden. It’s also close to a food market and soup place, which is convenient for when it snows. The building is very clean and feels safe. My only concerns are… - The rent keeps going up by at least $50 every year. - The water gets shut off once a month.

Fantastic experience: I have had an amazing experience since moving here in November. Jeff and Alex from maintenance completed all requests thoroughly and promptly. This included fixing a broken thermostat in my unit and my shower faucet (the day after request), as well as dealing with untended clothing left in the laundry room. My leasing agent, Jessica, and all others I've interacted with from the leasing team, such as Esther, have been professional and a pleasure to communicate with. I recently requested a parking sticker for a temporary rental, and received an envelope slipped under my door the next day. Often I also find delivered packages kindly transferred to my doorstep. My unit is cozy, modern and clean, equipped with hardwood floors. My only suggestion would be to add a dishwasher in the future. Most other larger units in the building have a dishwasher, so this might just be a space constraint. Another comment is that my unit gets less sunlight than others. Units on taller floor and unblocked by the building's own facade receive more natural light. Overall, I highly recommend living at a property managed by Franklin Communities.

Fantastic experience: My experience at Lakewoods Apartments has been great entirely. From the first apartment tour to move in day- everything was wonderful. Austin was a great and very helpful with any questions. I needed couple things repaired the day I moved in and maintenance responded to my request within an hour. Maintenance was very helpful and was able to attend to everything and made sure to let me know to reach out again if there was anything else. Apartment is very clean, up to date, and feels safe living there. I’ve felt welcome since day one and very happy to be living here. Would recommend Franklin Communities to anyone I know needing an apartment!

Fantastic experience: For someone who just moved into he country on work, it was a very homely and safe place. Management is great and so is where it's located. We had no major issues staying there for 2 years. We moved to a larger apartment within Franklin communities.

Fantastic experience: I've been living at Lakewood for almost three years now and I absolutely love it! The apartments are spacious, have amazing natural light, and great views of either Whitney Ave or the Lake. The area is so walkable, with a small garden with benches right across the street, as well as local favorites like Soup/Scoop girl, the Playwright, and Whitneyville Market. With Books and Company and Whitneyville Cultural Commons down the road there is always something to do. Maintenance is prompt and helpful, and packages are behind the locked main doors so I haven't experienced any issues with theft. I can't reccomend Lakewood enough!

Fantastic experience: I've lived at Lakewood for over a year and it's been a great experience. The maintenance team resolves any issues very quickly, and my guests have always noted how clean the common areas like the entrances and hallways are. Building management is responsive, kind, and helpful. My neighbors are all friendly and respectful. The building is very conveniently located close to several bus stops, for those that rely on public transportation. It's a safe, comfortable place to live!

Fantastic experience: Best apartment building in Hamden CT. I lived for 4 years, the building is always clean and maintenance provides prompt services. Jeff, Alex, and Carrolle are always friendly, respectful and helpful. I will miss them dearly.

Fantastic experience: I have had several issues in the apartment that needed fixing. But every single time when I call maintenance, they always come very promptly and fix the issue. They are also very kind and willing to answer any question that I may have about the issue, without making me feel like I'm a bother. Very thorough and very professional.

Fantastic experience: After dealing with neglectful management at our previous apartment, my partner and I have been living at Lakewood for a year and a half now and cannot stress enough what a drastic improvement it's been in every area. We're still in awe of how lucky we are. The maintenance team is super responsive, and anything we've needed has been addressed within one day at the most. Issues rarely come up, but when they do, they are handled promptly. The staff are all super kind and friendly, the building is kept clean, and there is clear communication regarding any maintenance being done within the building. Today, our cat managed to climb up and get stuck in a small hole in the closet ceiling, and not only did maintenance quickly (and safely) help get our cat down, they also patched up the hole and cleaned up afterward. They really go above and beyond.

Fantastic experience: They are great but I really want to highlight the maintenance. The maintenance is kind, professional, punctual, thorough, and very keen to go above and beyond for us residents. I've had a few maintenance requests and the team solved them swiftly and with smiles on there face. I wanted to write this review to highlight their hard work

Fantastic experience: From start to finish: meeting with my assigned agent, Jessica, to look over the various options and available move-in dates, application process, lease agreement, apartment inspection, receiving the keys, and finally moving in has been an excellent experience . Living in the building and my unit for just over a week now has been great as well. Everyone is welcoming and respectful, and it is a comfortable and safe place to call home, filled with all the necessary amenities to make everything accommodating.

The maintainance staff is absolutely wonderful — they are fast, friendly and attentive to details. The location is convenient with bus stop right in front of the apartment and free parking. Fantastic experience: We have lived at this property for 9 years and are very satisfied. The location is perfect as it is so close to shopping and medical facilities. The building and grounds are well maintained, the security is good and the parking lots are well lit. Maintenance calls are handled quickly. efficiently and with a smile! The staff Alex, Carol, and Jeff do a great job in keeping things in order. We truly appreciate them. We would recommend the Lakewood Apartments to family and friends.

Fantastic experience: I recently moved out after living here for two years. Overall I would recommend this location. Pros - rent payment, document storage, maintenance requests, etc are all done through an app that works well. You can also schedule the timing of maintenance appointments which I really appreciate. - the superintendents who perform the maintenance requests and other on-site management were excellent. Really pleasant to talk to and were prompt to fix issues. - location is close to New Haven, the various highways, both train stations and also walking distance to hiking trails at East Rock park. Also great local shops and incredible pub across the street. - The property management group that runs the property is easily the most responsive I have ever interacted with. Whenever I had an issue, they reached out promptly. Cons - parking can occasionally be limited. I’d say in my two years here, there were 10 or so times I was unable to get a parking spot. Still, at least they have free parking. For a fee you can get a spot in their garage. Limited availability though. Pro tip: - the pub across the street is excellent. - the wine shop across the street does monthly wine bags, 6 bottles for $50 and you get an email w info about each.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. The maintenance staff is very attentive and helpful. Never had any issues.

Negative experience: The place is old but well-maintained. The staff is nice, but my fan in the kitchen wasn't fixed the whole time. The moving-out is a nightmare. I noticed them 90-days before moving out that I would move out early and I'm still charged for the remaining two months. They charged me $390 (6hrs labor costs) for just removing stains from countertops, which is insane.

Positive experience: Overall I had a really good experience at lakewood. The place was clean, maintenance was fast, and management was nice. The only thing that really stood out as an issue was that the water of the entire building would get shut off each month for some reason, and often at inconvenient times.

Fantastic experience: I have been living at Lakewood for 1 year and have been so impressed by the comfort of the apartment, the responsiveness and quality work of the maintenance staff, and the friendliness of the fellow residents! Other things that I love about living here are the location, the incredible view out onto Lake Whitney, the impressive insulation (my apartment is so quiet and I hardly have to use heating/cooling!), and the "extra touches"--such as the holiday decorations--that the staff add to make the apartments truly feel like home! Couldn't be happier or recommend the place any higher. Huge thanks to all of those who make the Lakewood an awesome place to live. ______ UPDATE: It has now been 3.5 years and I'll be moving out in order to live closer to my family. My experience here has been great from start to finish. I'm so grateful for everything the staff does here to make it feel like home. They have done LOTS of updates since I've been here as well, including a really nice update to the exterior, a new parking lot, and a new gym with great equipment and nice windows/lighting. The other tenants are very friendly--this is a great community. I will miss it!

Negative experience: Loud Neighbors who you can hear because there is absolutely no sound proofing. The building is old and while repairs look nice things broke or weren't working within the first week of moving in. Finishes look good but things are not functional you can't store anything in the kitchen cabinets because they are incorrectly designed. Also 24 hour emergency maintenance is a lie. Apparently showers that won't turn off and non functional plumbing are not "Emergencies".

Fantastic experience: Lived here for 6 years. Best value/cost apartments around. No hidden fees or extra charges. During my stay, the ground floor was updated to include a small gym. Management/maintenance appropriately responsive. This was a great fit for my busy job in New Haven. Neighbors can sometimes be loud and disruptive, but not the company's fault.
