As you may know, we moved to Reston because of our experience visiting Lake Anne plaza one summer evening in 1970. The architecture, the siting of the structures, the fountain all created a space that the residents obviously were enjoying. We had two two young children at the time and envisioned our small family joining this community. We lived in the Crescent apartments while our house was being built in the Uplands area. Our children attended the Lake Anne Nursery School, and the tiny Safeway provided additional reasons to visit the plaza. A few years later Gulf Reston asked Brenda and Norman and Rebecca Krasnegor if we would like to use the Heron House art space to display and sell art. Our loud and immediate response was OF COURSE! I employed my rudimentary carpentry skills to fabricate a simple sign installed near the new gallery. Several years later Reverend Embry Rucker organized a group which became the Greater Reston Art Center and Brenda became the first director. GRACE soon became a significant organism in the larger Reston community. In the late 90’s we moved from Reston and over time discovered Florida. But nowhere in Florida did we experience the sense of community we had enjoyed in Reston, so we began to explore the idea of moving back to Reston, but this time to the very plaza we had enjoyed more than fifty years ago. A very close friend of ours in Florida used his contacts in the real estate community to put us in touch with you, and here we are! Your video visits to the options available to us were invaluable in helping us to decide on the perfect unit for us. Fantastic experience: We have been living outside the US for over 20 years and were recently asked to move back to the Northeast US for work. I had no contacts and no way of starting a home search until I reached out to Kathy Tracey. I contacted Kathy in a “cold call” and started providing her some information about us and what we wanted to live in. After our initial call, Kathy did the rest, she set us up with a search for the houses we had described and helped us find a loan, Jeremy is also very helpful but that’s another story, and she kept in touch over the next 3 months as we organized our move back to the US. We had the fortune of having the Tracey's for both a buying and selling experience. Our buying experience occurred in Summer 2020, when COVID was still new, travel was very limited, and in-person visits were a near-impossibility. As I was getting ready for a military move to the hot DC housing market area, my wife and I had no choice but to press through. The Traceys were ready for the challenge. With outstanding research and prompt and clear communication to both my wife and I, we were able to find a wonderful home that met our price and location parameters before it went on the market. As almost all sales were settled within a day or two, Kathy and Graham wisely recommended make an offer on the first day and write a letter to tell a little bit of our story as a military family. The combination of speed and personal touch worked and the seller went with us without forcing us to go into a bidding war, something very common that summer and now. When we decided this February to retire from the military this Summer (2022) and move to the Tampa area (The decision had nothing to do with our DC area home...We love that home and will miss it deeply!), we knew who to go to: Kathy and Graham. Again, we needed to move fast, as we have four school-aged kids and would need to sell a home, move, and get settled before the school year in Florida starts.
